mayrs2014

Rocksmith 2014 DLC for May, was quite diverse.

We started off with the frat boy reggae influenced stylings of 311, then we drop-tuned our way to the sludgy prog-metal of Mastodon, made music game history with a 5 pack from Alternative Rock band Cake, and topped it all off with a 3 pack from legendary guitarist, Slash!

This month was quite kind to our bass guitar friends offering some of the most fun charts in a long time via Cake’s The Distance and their deadpan vocal rendition of the disco hit I Will Survive.

Guitarists felt they were getting out of this month without too much of a challenge but if Mastodon wasn’t enough, then Slash’s Anastasia and Cake’s Stickshifts and Safety Belts certainly delivered.

May had a great variety of tunings to strengthen the Rocksmith 2014 DLC library!

Arrangement Standard Drop D Eb Standard D Standard Drop C
Lead 9 X 2 2 1
Rhythm 6 X 2 2 1
Bass 8 1 2 2 1

May sure had a lot of love for Standard, definitely a solid month for those that hate tuning.

So, that brings us to the final question:

311
Mastodon
Cake
Slash

See you next month!

  1. Haven’t picked anything up in May… I voted for the one that I will get later. It’s been a decent month for popular bands, and I’ve enjoyed my extra money, and time to practice old DLC.

        1. Daaaaaaaaamn! That is going to annoy a lot of people judging by the forum. I’m not a fan of sum 41 at all, but I know a lot of people like pop-punk so I won’t bitch about it.

  2. Please don’t resort to personal attacks on other individuals. Heated discussion is fine but direct attacks on other’s sexuality or violent threats will not be tolerated.

    Thanks.

    1. scroll to the top here. The menu option on the right, ‘Request a song’. Sign in with your u-play account and there you go.

  3. I knew one out of four of these bands before Rocksmith and I think they are all great. I do get annoyed when songs don’t have both rhythm and lead and think they should cost less when they don’t but these are still all great. The only song I have regretted downloading was the single spin doctors one that I wish didn’t exist in my list. It just sits there at the top annoying me every time I go to play.

  4. None of the above. The most interested I’ve been to date was for that false alarm for Def Leppard. I’ll never forgive you, RiffRepeater, for that tragic letdown. Let it be known to Ubisoft that I will be ruthlessly killing a kitten a week until there’s some DL. That one there with the big eyes is next…

  5. I usually don’t vote in these poll things, but…yeah, Cake!! These recaps are neat; Elliott, keep ’em coming.

  6. I love the Mastodon and Slash packs, not too fussed on the others. If there is one a month I want I’m pretty pleased, so this was a good month for me.

  7. Cake is the best for me this month.. i did buy the Mastodon pack too, and “beautiful disaster” of 311..
    No Slash..
that “vote for the best DLC of the month” thing is cool.. you should do it every month.. 🙂

    1. YES! Every month do this please 🙂 Thx! (Gawd I’m a guitar nerd!) Pretty sad when your homepage is a guitar forum LOL.

  8. While Mastodon was a ton of fun and probably should be my fav of the month, I can’t deny how awesome that Cake pack was. I’m -1 from FCing Stickshifts & Safetybelts and close to 99% on I Will Survive… easily the 2 standout tracks from the pack for guitar.

311 was a snooze-fest for the most part. I haven’t really delved much into the Slash pack… only played Back From Cali. A lot more fun than I expected but I’m just not a big Slash fan.

    I’d say Cake > Mastodon > Slash > 311 from me.

  9. I bought all of it except Slash. 311 is my personal pick for best DLC of the month with Cake a close 2nd. I haven’t even gotten around to downtuning low enough to play the Mastodon tracks, but I like the band a lot for a metal band. Mad catchy choruses.

All 3 bands I knew a handful of songs from, but was never heavily into and never learned any of their music. I look forward to June and what it might bring.

    1. I only bought Cake. Last month, Dylan. One worthy DLC pack a month is actually more than I expected, so hopefully they keep it up.

  10. Took 1 of 311,2 of cake,3 of slash(was not able to wait to have more skill)…
So hard to choose my favorite, love em all.
That was an awesome month for dlc.

  11. I bet we will see more bandfuse tracks in the next few months like finger death punhc, faith no more, social distortion at least I hope they end up there

      1. who cares, there is like 2 to 3 requests per thread and you are acting like there is 15-20 for every real comment.
the only thing I find annoying is you always saying “no song requests!” and “metal elitists!”, usually you are the common denominator in every negative comment on this site.

        1. and by negative, I mean “in bad taste” not the voicing of an opinion that is from an opposing perspective of another person

    1. THIS idiot…

Maybe Ubi kidnapped his pets and force him to buy the dlc?

      Hence the incessant butthurtness.

      1. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(Not @Blackhealer, but at that picture… I gotta use that in a different forum!)
