Greetings Rocksmith fans!

We were promised a big announcement, and BOY was that delivered! Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix is coming to Rocksmith, and we’re not just getting a measly five pack! That’s right, we’re getting TWELVE songs by the guitar great. To top it all off, if you’re a PS4 or Xbox One owner, you can get these tracks for the low, low price of FREE! That’s right, once these songs become available on December 16th, PS4 and Xbox One owners have until January 31st to get these songs for free.

The songs won’t be a timed exclusive to the new consoles, but will only be free there. 360/PS3/PC/Mac players will have to purchase the songs. In order to download the free tracks, you must get them from the in-game store. In addition to the 12 pack, the songs will also be available as 4 3-packs, and singles. How the songs will be divided up remains unknown at this time.

This is definitely a massive get for Rocksmith, especially given the presumed BandFuse exclusivity. My gut says that, given how huge his catalogue is, even though this is a huge pack, there may be more even more coming! Either way, this is a fantastic pack, and is sure to keep us busy for a while (once it’s out, of course)!

  1. what’s the group gonna be for the New year up for DLC will it be Tool,Black label Society,Stone sour,Korn,Skillet,Slipknot,In flames or Five Finger Death punch

  2. I own RS 2014 on PS3, PS4, & PC. I also own RS1 for PS3 and own for cables. I have purchased two other copies RS 2014 to give as gifts.

  3. I would like to give some thanks. I purchased the XBOX One version for the game itself. Rocksmith 2014 is an amazing game. I have 5 children ages 3 to 12 and all but the youngest love your game. This Tuesday at our local Veteran’s Day parade a marching band played “Pinball Wizard”. Maybe 15% of the crowd recognized the song, but my 5 year old son cried out, “I can play this on my guitar!” and proceeded to belt out the lyrics at the top of his mini Rockstar voice! It was a great moment and I want to thank you all for it. Rocksmith is a wonderful way to learn guitar, bond with my family, and bridge the generation gap when it comes to music appreciation. Continuing this on my next generation console was a no brainer. That having been said, I recently heard about the bonus Hendrix content and I am thrilled at this wonderful bonus.

    1. That’s awesome! I’m also incredibly impressed that your 5-year-old can play “Pinball Wizard!” Gonna be a rock star!

  4. I am so sick of people bitching about all of this. If you want to buy it, buy it. If not, don’t. If you NEED to get it for free so badly, then buy a new system…

A lot of you must have very few actual struggles in your lives if you take this incentive situation so seriously and so personally.

…just enjoy the game (or don’t), and please keep your complaining to yourself.

  5. So when I first read this article Tuesday I thought 12 hendrix songs that’s cool but I won’t be getting a ps4 anytime soon. Then Friday my refurbished ps3 finally broke down, so I traded it in for a ps4. Now I still gotta pay 60$ for digital rocksmith plus the newer dlc I want to buy, but after all that at least I’ll get hendrix dlc for free BITCHES.

  6. Best worst news ever. Wish I had a one. Guess I gotta pay like a sucker to play dope tunes. Us 360 users are getting screwed almost as bad as Noel Redding.

  7. Out of all the controversial things here, I’m surprised most people are saying stuff about Red House. Like, that’s a hidden gem from Are You Experienced!! I’m very pleasant with that grab.

Other than that, nothing I can’t complain or say about this pack. Just gotta get $30 from somewhere.

  8. ill wait til the xb1 exclusive metalica 12 pack comes out before getting a xb1. so probably wont be getting one anytime soon

  9. wow, free to only next gen??? god fucking dammit. not even a temporary discount for everyone else, what the fuck Ubi.

HA!, i side with you on the argument, you put it into words very well multiple times on what is wrong with this.

gonna have to nitpick the songs i want more over others, over time.

    1. Well I think this is a nice gift to those of us who have RockSmith for xbox 360 and have to pay another $60 for the game again to get it on xbox1.

quit your bitching, get with the times and buy a new console. The 360 is a dinosaur already…

All I can say is this is the best fucking news I’ve had all week! Jimi is the fucking man!

      1. Buy a new console, why? I, like many people, am not interested in an xbox one and/or ps4. If you want a new one, good for you. I have no reason for one. None.

That’s not even the main problem! We we’re told, in no unclear words whatsoever, that there would be uniform treatment across all platforms with no incentives of any kind to next gen users.

It is not the cost of the pack, its contents, etc. It is simply the aspect of people lying through their teeth to allay our fears and then taking the opposite action to realize them.

      1. Last time I checked this is the only game available in the market that allows you to play along on console or computer. I would be happy just to pay them to keep supporting dlc releases because everyone was predicting how bandfuse was going to take off and in 3 months they were done so no one is getting screwed we all enjoy this game and once its gone you’ll miss it

        1. scrolling tabs are a joke compared to the interface rocksmith has.

I could have told you without ever playing Bandfuse that it was going to crash and burn.

  10. No complaints here. I’ll gladly buy it. Anyone concerned about next gen and last gen drama should just get the steam version and you will always have it on a computer. I’m personally switching over to steam from my PS3. And I will eventually rebuy my old dlc during a steam sale.

  11. OMG can we say drama lol.
They are probably getting some kickback from Microsoft and/or Sony to push the next get.

We already know that 360 and PS4 titles are going to stop coming very soon, and face it, we will all be moving to a next gen platform, if not for us, then for our kids.

Its not enough to get me upset over.

And like someone else mentioned, we have enjoyed this gave for about a year.

  12. Dudes – my perspective as someone who really treasures what Rocksmith brings to my life. i.e. someone who is learning to play, remembering the times before Rocksmith existed when I was at best playing snatches of songs and basically running dry of inspiration. Now I can play Paranoid Android in its entirety.
I’ve been getting worried Rocksmith had insufficient customers to be a long term viable concern – so confirmation there is life and further investment with XBox1 and PS4 is just bloody good news for us all, irrespective the game at this point is unchanged. Expecially considering all our hard won DLC is transferable if/ when we decide to convert.
Not hard to imagine sales of RS2014 on the XBox1 have been pretty low given it is the same game as before. I find it hard to begrudge there being a little incentive to make the leap.
Just good news for me as given the history with the original XBOX I don’t exactly feel like my 360 is going to last forever… – so even if RS finishes as a franchise I can invest in the XBOX1 and keep playing this amazing game which is the only reason I use the machine.
Otherwise we get to invest in this new DLC on the 360 same as before which most of us had no issue with.
These guys are generally super inclusive with the RS community – got to remember these decisions are made as they are accountable to give profits back to the parent company to keep the franchise rolling and protect their own jobs etc.
Finally, jesus Christ its Hendrix and 12 tracks – could it get any better – this is the main thing to focus on IMHO – Christmas come early! 30 bucks well spent.
Now if they could only pretty please get round to releasing an Appetite for Destruction pack….

    1. I agree a lot with your opinion, honestly. From a marketing standpoint, this is a brilliant move.

To another point though (and this is in zero way Rocksmith’s fault), our hard-won DLC does not transfer…necessarily.

If I ever do upgrade to next-gen, it will be years. On top of that, I hate XBox and have a 360 now, so I would certainly buy a PS4. Again, not their fault at all and totally understandable, but it is a total bummer that DLC won’t be recoverable in that case :'(

  13. Amazing! A bit sad there is no Hey Joe and Watchtower as well.. and I bet the ones I want all end in different 3 packs, but fuck it, can’t wait =D

    1. Yeah Hey Joe would have been a big one for me too – but I’ll probably buy the lot regardless.

Incidentally, with all these people moaning about it being free for One/PS4 and not for us – I don’t get it. If it WASN’T being made available for free, i doubt we’d hear much complaining. How does that make sense?

I’ve been involved in bringing countless promotions to market for a large company, and I’m sure that loyal long term customers would have been firmly front of mind when this was being planned out. But, acquisition and revenue are also important. I’m a loyal, long term Rocksmith customer myself – I’m heavily invested, I’m not getting Hendrix for free, but I’m okay with that. I never expected to – and I’m more than happy to buy. They’re a business….and I’m sure that Hendrix doesn’t come cheap.

I think it’s cool they’ve been able to work something out which will hopefully encourage more people to discover Rocksmith. It might even be the incentive for some to upgrade to the next gen version – factoring in the RRP for the DLC makes the price right…and hey, since they’re using it more (now that it’s no longer a hassle to plug in the 360 just to play Rocksmith), maybe they’ll buy the other 15 songs they were holding out on. More active users equals more revenue, which means more development. That means even more DLC – Good news for everyone, surely?

On the topic of DLC, I’ve been pretty amazed with the quantity and quality of what’s been coming out. In particular, I’m impressed with the diversity – not everything’s for me, but that probably means someone with totally different tastes in music is equally as stoked as I am.

      1. You are 100% correct. If it wasn’t made available for free, there would be no whining, since it would be uniform how everyone is being treated.

Well, there’d probably still be people whining about what songs didn’t get included haha 😛

  14. I’m not usually one to buy into or make “slippery slope” arguments, but here are some thoughts I’ve been having:

From the article “Rocksmith comes to Next-Gen in November,” Dan had the following to say:

“When I support something and it expands, I don’t want to think that someone else is getting more than I am getting if I was there at the start. So if we’d put extra songs on the disc and then released it as DLC, we’d get complaints that the new people were getting stuff free that we asked the “true fans” to pay for.”

He said this in regards to there being new, “incentive” songs on next-gen that weren’t on previous versions, which he quickly dismissed. However, read that carefully and tell me that making Hendrix DLC free for next-gen buyers doesn’t go 100% against that sentiment.

Also, the Tom Petty DLC came out for XB1/PS4, and correct me if I’m wrong, was then fixed and taken off the markets. However, it seems like it might be released for a while on only next-gen and the rest of us will have to wait?

This is the start of what could become “well, we did say we’ll release the DLC on every console…but you’ll have to wait 6 months before you can buy it” or something similar.

There are going to be more and more incentives (whether they’re going to call them that or not) to try and push people into next-gen. It happens, and I get it. Old technology phases out slowly, but if you promise to support them all evenly…do so. Don’t offer freebies to one group over another. That goes against what they claim is their mission statement.

Just a few thoughts. Criticism welcome, but please, discuss it. Don’t just call me a whiner or entitled because many of us share my sentiments. A huge group of us feel shafted and not just on this forum.

    1. I agree.
Also, Nothing is free. Meaning, someone is paying for those free downloads. Sony, Microsoft.? Total conspiracy sounding and a little dramatic, I know.
It’s like the old adage, if you didn’t bring enough for everybody dont bring it at all.
I just hope by next Xmas there are still downloads for everybody and not just the next gen. Hopefully I’m just being paranoid.

    2. it would be nice if RS set around 300+ Song Quota for Loyal Customers to receive this “perk” also
as it would be benificial for Ubi for it would spark DLC purchases from those under the 300+ Song Quota & take some anger away from some Loyal Customers that are beyond pissed

    3. I can appreciate your point of view, however personally I don’t buy into this ‘loyal supporter’ thing. None of us bought this to support the RS team, we bought it for selfish reasons – that is an indisputable fact. So they don’t owe us, as people who bought it to make ourselves happy, anything. Also if someone wants to buy RS on the PS3 or Xbox360, they can get it pretty darn cheap right now. Anyone buying it for the PS4 or Xbox ONE is going to have to pay a lot more for it, they get a perk while we have had the fun of playing it for the past year, which they haven’t – unless they have, in which case for buying the same game again, they surely deserve a little something.
I am not a loyal supporter, as you cannot be loyal when there is no alternative and I buy the DLC not to support RS, but to make myself happy. As we all do. I owe the RS team my gratitude for making such an awesome product that has given me so much and made me a better guitarist. They don’t owe me jack, and I’ve been there since day one of the first game. That’s how i see it anyway. Whoo, that got a bit long, sorry.

      1. over analyze stuff much…?
I would say if one owns RS & RS2014 on all 3 formats & B.F. since their release dates then that is a pretty good indicator they are LOYAL to the product

        😆

        1. well if they are that loyal I’m sure they are buying the Next-gen version too, to support Rocksmith? Sorry, just kidding and being a bit facetious, haha! But does anyone really own it on all 3 formats? And if yes, why?!

      2. You have a fair point, and I obviously see that there are two main perspectives on this issue:

        1) OMG HENDRIX!!! Take my money, I don’t care. The rest of you are whiners. (which is fine, and I respect and value these opinions)

        2) Hendrix is great, but you said no incentives to any console/PC over any other…you lied.

I actually do consider myself as a loyal customer and a supporter, for a couple reasons. One, there are a lot of choices of games/DLC out there, but I avidly choose to spend my available game money on new songs/packs. Sure, this is an investment in myself and my own fun, but this defines a loyal customer. Second, I very much believe that when I spend my money, where I spend it is an investment. I support my local record store to invest in their future; I buy albums from bands that haven’t sold out and that I wish to continue to support. Spending money to me on things like this is very much an investment and a vote of confidence in their continued success.

I’m aware not everyone thinks about spending money on things like that, but that’s my opinion. For what it’s worth.

    4. Uh, a resounding nope to all the slippery slope arguments. If beans are 30 cents off at the grocery store this week — by this logic, next week they’ll be 50 cents off, then a dollar, and then the entire bean market will implode? C’mon. It’s a coupon. We’re not forging new marketing territory here.

You have seen one exception and assumed it will become the rule. It won’t. All DLC will continue to come out for all platforms at the same time. There will be no exclusive availability windows.

At the announcement, people asked “where’s the upgrade offer?” We couldn’t make one (we did try, actually), so we did this instead. Yes, you read that right — this offer came from existing players asking “Why would I upgrade if I already bought it? Why aren’t you offering me something more to keep me?” So we said, okay, if you’re on the fence and you need motivation…how about Hendrix DLC? And suddenly it became “you’re rewarding new people instead of existing customers” when it was the existing customers who asked for a sweeter deal in the first place. Loser: Rocksmith.

In truth, this lets us entice both groups. Total newbies get Hendrix DLC for free. Returning customers get Hendrix DLC for free and all their existing DLC library for free too (and that wasn’t exactly easy to wrangle). If you don’t want to change platforms, you don’t have to, and all the new content will continue to come out for your existing platform. So this is a bad offer…why?

I think you’re overreacting, but I will leave you to the nightmares of your own making.

      1. Dan, thank you very much for taking the time to read through everything. I, and I assume others, really appreciate it.

While our viewpoints differ on the matter, I think it is important for people to always consider all perspectives. I avidly voiced my concerns in the case that you would a) read it (so thank you again) and b) that you may see a new perspective on how this offer is making some of us feel.

I respect and value that you are trying to provide people a reason to continue to support you on next-gen, but honestly, if those people chose to upgrade and can afford it, they should expect to have to buy the game again or wait for a new version. In my opinion, the “entitled” ones are those people thinking that because they bought a new, shiny console they deserve something for continuing to support Rocksmith.

I choose to spend my money on DLC (which I like to think/hope that you get more money on %-wise than a new copy of the game) instead of a new console (which you see no money from). I do this selfishly of course because I enjoy playing the songs and improving my skills. However, I really do consider this as investing in your company and in the future of this game/franchise.

This is why it feels like a kick in the pants for strangers to the game and upgraders to get Hendrix for free. I fully understand it as a business model, but I hope you see my/our concern.

        Thanks!

  15. classy move RS
SCREWING over the one’s that have supported you
while you treated us like guinea pigs waiting for you to fix your bugs & programming flaws

    1. I have this on my 360. What bugs and programming flaws are you talking about? I’ve only had mine crash 3 times in all the time I have been playing, so I’m curious?

      1. I also have on 360, and I’m assuming this is in reference to the occasional jumpiness/lag of the songs? Whenever I download new stuff, I get note highways that are jumpy and skip for a while, so I have to restart the console when it’s done.

@Bat Wings, is that your issue, too?

        1. Yeah. That would be one thing that I would want to upgrade to next gen for, but not any time soon. It’s not a $400 annoyance lol

  16. So when rocksmith first arrived, they gave us 3 obscure Xmas songs for free.

When rocksmith 2014 arrives for the next gen consoles,
They give them 12 bad ass Jimi Hendrix songs for free. Lucky them.

I know life isn’t fair, but that seems like a little F*** Up.

    Thanks rocksmith

  17. Steam users, lets contact rocksmith and demand ur free 12 songs! For years we buy and support the game. But now we are left in the dark… Over some stupid ps4/x1 promo deal…Sad move from the makers. Ill make a statment, if we not gettings those songs ill will not buy the next 12 weeks of dlc. ./nerdrage mode off.

    1. I feel your pain, brother.

I’m on a PS3 myself, and now I have had to buy a new console AND rebuy the game just to get the free stuff. I thought about just shelling out the $30 for the Hendrix DLC, but I felt that that would be sending Ubisoft the wrong message. I urge all existing PS3/X360 owners to do the same. Only by maintaining the rage can we defeat them.

      1. Hey man. Just letting you know, that it’d be cheaper for you, just to buy the Hendrix pack, instead of buying a console and a game just to get it for free. That’s an option too, you know?

    2. When you go to your grocery store, and they have, let’s say “buy one cola, get one for free” Do you demand only the free cola, cause everyone who buys a cola gets one for free, so why shouldn’t you get one, eventhough you aren’t buying the first one? It’s unfair, especially because you have been supporting that grocery store for [EXCESSIVE AMOUNT] years with [EXCESSIVE AMOUNT]dollars… Am I right?

      1. You analogy isn’t very good, in my opinion. That only works if the store was a small chain that would have gone under without your monetary support for years…to then turn around and give new customers a bunch of freebies and not give any regards to the people that got them to that point.

        1. What are you on about? If you’ve been “supporting for years” right? And you upgrade to thw new versions, you too, will get the freebie..

          1. You’re assuming that everyone can or wants to “upgrade” to a next-gen system. I’ve had a 360 for ages and only really use it to play Rocksmith. Otherwise, I just don’t care about Xbox or their titles anymore. In the occasion that I do play a video game, I’m happy playing something on wii by myself or with some buddies.

I, like many others I assume, am not in a position to just throw $400-500 at a new Rocksmith-running machine. No thanks.

Dan said that it doesn’t matter which console we use because they don’t want the experience to be any different. Well guess what…it is.

            1. You don’t qualify for the offer, if you don’t buy the thing, that the offer is connected too…

Man, it’s like, my local 7-11 has on offer, that when you buy half a liter of coca cola, you’ll get a free mini speaker yeah? I’ve been buying cola there for years, I should get that speaker for free, shouldn’t I? NO! And I would be dumber than stone to assume so.

      2. “so why shouldn’t you get one, eventhough you aren’t buying the first one?”

The reason that statement doesn’t work is because we did buy the first one. People who paid for and bought RS on the older consoles get nothing free. It was a 60 dollar game then as it is now.

Look I was all for them offering incentives to upgrade, but they were adamant about not giving those incentives. And now they’re basically contradicting themselves. This seems fishy to me. It’s like they got the idea to throw this DLC out as free and then took a step back and said hey maybe if we only make it free on the new consoles we’ll get more sales! Genius! It seems very underhanded.

    3. Just letting you know, the PS4 version runs so much smoother and more responsive imho!! No more jumpy note tracks and lag. And the graphics pop and are easy on the eyes like a Victoria’s Secret Magazine! ;P

  18. its truth that its been some slap recently

and an incomprehensible move too was the holy diver one ( 2 weeks )

  19. No More Money:

I don’t know what you are whining about. PC (aka Steam Users) are offered dlc sales and free code giveaways on the Rocksmith forums. Call an effing whaambulance.

  20. So if you bought DLC on PS3 it will work on PS4? Just not the other way around? That’s cool, anyway I can afford to spend 30 dollars on Hendrix DLC so couldn’t give a toss about a free incentive or not. Will pick up a PS4 in future, once it is more established, plus the new edition of Rocksmith, knowing my DLC will transfer.

      1. I’ve been hoping since the release of the next-gen consoles that RS would upgrade. I want to see an extremely long life for RS and the upgrade is only logical and needed for the future.

I’m using RS on both PS3 and PS4 and I haven’t tried this yet to see if having Music Unlimited on at the same time as RS on PS4 would allow me to play along with the streaming music. I’ve been waiting for a way to do this and I’m going to try tonight. Has anyone else tried this yet?

  21. Wow didn’t think it would happen so quickly since bandfuse had the rights but its so much better than zeppelin or even metallica. Now if they could just release new version next year taking some of bandfuse’s best features.

      1. I hope that next year’s Rocksmith will take out the guitar backing track. It made the tones in BandFuse sound so much more crisp.

          1. I would take everything Dan says from now on with a grain of salt. He literally said there would be no incentives for switching over to the new consoles and low and behold, here are the incentives. He lied through his teeth. If he’s done it before, he’ll do it again.

Ubisoft has certainly made AC a year title. Why wouldn’t they want the same for RS? If not yearly, then every 2 years. I expect there to be a new game next fall (RS2016).

            1. If we’re going to throw around personal accusations, read carefully.

I’d love it if we can do another Rocksmith game. A lot of folks here would. I just don’t expect a big sequel to appear by next year. See, we did a major game in 2011, then a major game in 2013…I know why people started to assume there’d be a major game in 2015. I’m not stupid; I see a pattern. So I’m managing expectations. Your expectations, from the sound of it, because you have games planned out two years from now already.

Plans change in this industry all the time. If we suddenly get a green light and get to do a whole new game, that’d be wonderful. But to help people temper anticipation, I said it’s not in the works right now, other than the usual “what would we do if we had the chance” meetings about functionality and stuff. If those meetings bear fruit, who knows? Should we not do one starting tomorrow because yesterday we didn’t have a plan in place? If you’re more concerned with what was said then than what is happening now, I won’t be joining you.

I never said there would be no incentives for switching over, as you suggest. I said there would be no exclusive tracks or content for any of the platforms. Hendrix is coming to all as paid DLC; there is no exclusive content to “force” people to upgrade, which is what people were fear-mongering at the time. However, a limited-time free offer of universal content is a clear incentive for people who are interested in moving to a new platform to make that leap. If you are not one of them, you are not missing anything at all. Literally. Like I said: If we’re going to throw around personal accusations, read carefully.

I’ll keep being as transparent as I can. Take it with a whole shaker of salt if you like, but if you paint me as a villain for sharing information, I may challenge that.

  22. It’s been a long wait people, and this free dlc is sweet! Hit me up with a friend request on the ps4 (while I wait for my digital copy and all my PS3 dlc to instal).

    Psn name: The_lexx

    😛

  23. I have a PS4, but all my DLC is on my xbox 360 so I’m not upgrading my copy of RS. But I don’t give a damn that i have to pay for it, I’m just stoked that something I love as much as Hendrix is coming with 12 tracks!!!! That is bloody amazing and I am VERY happy about this!

    HENDRIIIIIIIIIIX!!!!

  24. How is anyone upset about this? If you don’t have the ps4/xboxone version of rocksmith then you can buy these songs just like any other dlc release. If you purchased the ps4/xboxone version then you are getting a reward for buying the game a second time. Just picked up my Xbox one version. Can’t wait to play some Hendrix

    1. coz they say “fuck you”! why wouldn’t we be upset? they say, “all you’ve people who’ve spent lots of money, FUCK YOU”

      1. So you get rewarded for spending money on a new console and spending $60 on a game, but if you already bought the game for $60+ (with/without cable) and have spent literally hundreds of dollars on DLC, you get nothing?

I don’t understand how people don’t think this is a huge dick move.

Point is, I’m excited and I’ll buy it. But I’m not happy about how they are treating the existing fan base.

        1. I agree that people should be upset about not getting the free DLC. The PS4 and Xbox1 users haven’t been supporting the company or keeping it afloat while its competition died (bandfuse). It should be for all, not for just the hold outs.

          1. This whole thread reeks of entitlement issues. You guys must be masters of the waaah pedal. 😉

            #FirstWorldProblems

            1. It’s not entitlement if we have contributed to supporting the company. Entitlement would be the next gen owners that feel they deserve the free DLC while others do not.

              1. You get 12 hendrix songs for $30 . Nuff said greatest game ever. For $30 I can go can see a crappie movie, stale popcorn and watered down soda. Get a clue

                1. I’ve got a clue, so do some others on this forum.

They said they wouldn’t have incentives or console exclusives…they do.

They’re giving away a $30 pack to either a) people who are paying for the game again to switch consoles (that’s a nice move, which is great) and to b) the people out there new to the game, who have only supported it by buying the disc and/or cable.

But what about all the people who have been shelling out cash for years to help pay your salaries and keep new music coming? What about all the people who are always talking the game up and trying to get new people interested? We get kicked in sack and told to buy the pack full price.

I don’t view this as entitlement, but perhaps there’s a fair point there. However, after we collectively have been buying into this game for so long (I for one bought Rocksmith day 1, pre-ordered Rocksmith 2014 at the first available moment, and have spent more money on DLC than I care to think about for the fear or inducing a coronary) it just feels like we deserve better. Maybe a deal for all owners? …something.

Clearly some of you don’t care. Fine, that’s up to you. What I and many others are afraid of is “what next?”

They win. I’m going to shell out $30 for Hendrix even though I don’t want them to be rewarded for this ploy. But maybe, just maybe, someone will realize going forward that without fans and supporters, do you know what you turn into? …Bandfuse.

                  1. you know the answer already , ppl don’t wanna see.

$$$ since it worked why stop, they ll get money on old console cause its jimi. since its free on new console the game is double price so anyway you choose you have to repay again. money rules the world you like it or not in every domain in life. when someone spend 100 000$ they want 1 000 000 , they dont care if 35 % or more are not happy they still do their money .

            2. Agreed. Bunch of Whiney crybabies in this town. Constantly moaning that there is no Hendrix on rocksmith and then when their wish is fulfilled they moan that it’s not free.

” Wah! Wah! My diamond shoes are too tight and no one has change for my hundred dollar bill! Wah ! Wah!”

Do you think Jimmy Hendrix sat around moping because no one would give him free muddy waters sheet music?

              1. it just that i’m older now and those magician tricks ( look left , while my right hand is doing the trick..) is getting more and more evident

and the worse that could happen ( if this really happen ) the put a package of next gen console with rocksmith 2014 with a 60$ to 100$ discount, that would probably be the final blow

i dont crack my console cause i have respect , but im starting to think of it

          2. That right there is a massive leap. Plenty of folks ONLY keeping their PS3/360 around as a RS console until the new RS version.

Also, offering a small incentive to urge players to make the change (assuming they have a new console, of course) is a smart business move.

UbiSoft doesn’t owe you anything for supporting the game. Instead, they offer WEEKLY, reasonably-priced DLC.

            1. I agree. And I ‘Was’ a 360 just waiting to put it away for the Nextgen support. 1 Less power supply sucking power.

Hendrix? Free is ok, but he was not my style and normally wouldn’t have bought it. It’ll just be longer to zoom through my playlist selections if I snagged 12 for free. Enumeration would drive me crazy. But maybe Rocksmith will eventually let us have CLUTTER CONTROL and file in seperate tracks in Album or Track Favorite Folders.

              1. I really like the idea of a Favorites or Playlist menu. I find myself hoping not to land too long on a song I cannot stand, land on it too long, cringe, and proceed to scroll along until I find what I feel like (or my wife requests) me to play.

  25. Could we at least put the photo of Jimi the correct way?

This is great news for Rocksmith players. I’m an X-Box 360 user, no plan to upgrade to the ONE, but will gladly throw down my hard earned on this DLC.

    1. What do you mean? He was a lefty, and played right-handed guitars upside-down. That’s what I see. Something doesn’t look quite right about the labeling though.

  26. I became curious and checked whether any of Jimi’s Bandfuse songs were left in the Xbox Marketplace. It turns out everything is gone except for the in-house DLC. Ah well, 12 SONGS, WOOOO!

  27. I’m stunned that they reeled Hendrix in, and I look forward to what other big artists are waiting in the wings, but this just reminds me of the original article revealing the current-gen versions and how Dan Amrich spent his time responding to us. So much for his borderline harassing us for complaining about the lack of incentive to upgrade.

What a joke. Call me when they bother to put out a disc-only version for those of us who already supported the hell out of this game, or you find a cheap used copy, because that’s the only way I’ll bite on PS4. Digital only at full price is a slap in the face.

        1. I don’t want a discount, at all, so good try on that decoding thing. If there was a disc-only retail version, I’d have already bought it.

          1. Thanks for letting me know, that I did good, I’m conficted, however, cause you say I did good, but also that I was wrong.

So you¨re bitching about not being able to buy the new version on disc, without the cable? How about a digital version, what’s the problem with that?

      1. I’m not mad, though it does likely come across as such; I just find it really disconcerting and rather contradictory that Dan Amrich loudly called everyone out and degraded them when they asked about incentives for upgrading (all of this was in your article about the reveal of RS2014 for current-gen systems) and effectively saying that “buy it if you want to own it on current-gen, but there will be no incentives provided.”

While some people were upset that there wasn’t an incentive (admittedly I was one of them, though I wasn’t going to completely abandon the game), I’m more bothered by the fact that he behaved the way he did all the while knowing this entire Jimi Hendrix incentive existed– this kind of thing doesn’t get decided at the last second.
It’s not entitlement or anger or anything irrational like that– I just don’t like the way this has unfolded after his original comments in the previously referenced article.

That, coupled with the fact that there’s no disc-only retail version, is just disappointing enough to turn me off from the whole PS4 edition. I don’t buy digital games unless it’s the only option, and I’m not ponying up for Rocksmith 2014 for a third time to get another cable after I already own two of them. This last part? Not Ubisoft’s fault, I completely understand that– but they could have provided the option to buy a disc-only retail version, because I guarantee I’m not the only person who shies away from digital-only. As someone who must be in the 99th percentile of Rocksmith supporters, I basically feel as if what matters most to me is being neglected.

      2. Oh, and it seems that only singles purchases transfer over to next-gen right now, and not pack purchases, which is another slap in the face if true (it’s listed as such on the PlayStation Blog and PSN, so hopefully this is in error). That, I would definitely be mad about.

  28. Are people seriously asking why these are free for the new consoles??? Are you people completely unaware of how business works? It is certainly in Ubi’s best interests if the XB1 and PS4 releases do well. In order to spur people that already own the old console versions to upgrade, they are offering what is basically a $20 “perk”. If you don’t understand this, you are seriously daft.

    1. It’s not that we don’t understand, but it is HEARTLESS to just throw free DLC at new gamers on next gen and people that can afford to upgrade consoles and then turn around and tell your loyal supporters to screw off.

They wouldn’t even have a product that is succeeding or making it to next gen if it weren’t for those of us pouring hundreds of dollars into the DLC to support them.

If you don’t see this as a slap in the face, I think you are daft. That’s my opinion though.

      1. Ubisoft is taking a loss on the Next Gen so that way they can build an install base….aka they had to pay for this shit and now you want it for free but they got no reason to give you something that cost them an arm and a leg, be glad they took the risk so that you might pay them money so they could recover what was spent.

        1. Who said it has to be free? Any discount, even for like one week, would be great. And it wouldn’t feel like a slap in the face.

They took a risk by making this free to next gen owners and not their existing support group. THAT was the risk.

  29. :O :O :O :O :O :O :O :O :O :O

I wanna get a guitar now. Jimi did have a nice bassist accompany him often but, so much Hendrix begs for guitar.

I do wish we could have gotten All Along The Watchtower and Third Stone from the Sun, but wow 12-pack!

      1. Hate to agree, but Hey Joe is my favorite Hendrix song so I would have loved to see it too. Better than anything else though, I would have loved to see Rocksmith extend the deal to its loyal customers that already existed and not just the next ten hold outs.

  30. Not being funny but Xbox 360/Ps3/PC were before Xb1 and Ps4 we spent a longer time on it and we are the ones that have to pay for it? bunch of BS

    1. I agree…I’ve spent so much money on DLC and have no interest in upgrading to an Xbox One/PS4.

Why do the people who’ve spent countless dollars on DLC get the shaft just because it’s available on a new system?

I’m still going to buy it, for two reasons. One, I love Hendrix. Two, I will support this game as long as feasible.

I just wish that having spent hundreds of dollars to support them would maybe get me this pack free too…instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new console that they don’t see any profit from. Sigh.

  31. I wish they could have secured the rights to the Experience’s covers of All Along The Watchtower and Hey Joe. Bob Dylan seems Rocksmith-friendly, though, so perhaps there’s a chance on the former, maybe?
