Hello Rocksmith fans!

You may have noticed the Ubisoft Forums have been down for quite awhile now.

Since it doesn’t look like they are coming back today I’ve decided to have this article to solve the puzzle that @DanAmrich has created for next week’s DLC.

Update: Forums are Back!

  1. I’m really curious why Creed elicits almost no “Hey, it’s not my thing, but if it’s yours, then enjoy it~!” type reactions, and plenty of “I WILL KILL THE WHOLE FAMILY OF WHOEVER APPROVED THIS DLC!!!!!!”

Why is it all so visceral?

  2. Wow, you guys are so damn negative all the time! Why can’t you just be happy that there’s continuing DLC and not bitch and moan about all the stuff coming out that you don’t like!

I for one think this could be some fun guitar to play. There’s some nostalgia in there since this was on the radio often while I did homework in high school. Tremonti has some fun riffs and chords though.

Give it a chance! Or don’t buy it and shut the hell up! Geez.

  3. Not a fan of creed at all, so this is definitely a skip (still waiting for a Huey Lewis and the News pack).
By the way, what was the whole spam issue about?

    1. He already said yes.. It’s hidden somewhere amongst all the drama of “Dan didn’t wait for the forum to be online to post the clue” 🙄

They were changing offices, so I guess he just didn’t have time to make a harder clue..

  4. Tremonti is a good player. Creed is popular and this is a mass-market piece of software. A handful of songs you don’t download will not change your life, and really, nobody cares what YOU like — they care what THEY like. Why complain?

Just skip it and go back to that Bachsmith track that kicked your ass.

  5. Gotta admit, I don’t really get all the hate for Creed. I’ve just decided to listen to some songs to see if it’s a buy for me, and they’re not that bad, seems pretty playable without being too boring. I’ll probably pick up the pack

  6. So there’s two guesses: Creed and Blind Willie Johnson.

I think Blind Willie Johnson would be just too easy to play on guitar and there’s no bass.

I would probably lose my bass card for this, but I would buy a Creed pack. I grew up in the 90s listening to popular radio. I got into Creed way before I got into Pearl Jam, lol!

  7. Creed isn’t that bad I mean people like Alter Bridge so not sure why all the dislike for Creed. Personally rather have more Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam but I would play Creed for the fun drop D songs

  8. A creed pack would be extremely painful following a week of singles from three bands that deserve a pack each.

    1. I’d say “Jesus wept”, but that is likely already either the name of one of their songs or in the lyrics. Wow, I usually can scrounge some good out of most packs, but this is a fucking catastrophe, musically-speaking. What’s next? Presidents of the United States of America?

I’d be deathly afraid to download it as it would lame up the rest of my library.

      1. At least PotUSA were very deliberate in their awfulness. Creed on the other hand, and more specifically, Scott Stapp had no self awareness.

How they became so huge in the US is a mystery to me.

        1. Very good point. I like their sense of humor and my wife likes them (PotUSA). So, not a very fair comparison. Actually, it is unfair to compare anyone to Creed.

Creed was just awful. I do remember how popular they were. Fucking baffling. Perhaps they would be better-suited to kareoke, but certainly not Rocksmith.

          Fucking Creed? Gahhhh

        2. Isnt alterbridge just creed with a different singer? People love them but hate creed. I don’t know if it was the “christan” label or just scott. Ive always liked the guitar work of mark but never a fan of either band.

          1. For the record, I don’t care for Alter Bridge, but they are nowhere near the level of musical abortion as Creed.

      2. I cant believe you dissed Presidents of USA one of the better gimmick bands from the 90s. Who wouldn’t want to play Lump or Peaches?

  9. I kind of like With arms wide open. And I’ll bet with all the backlash Creed has gotten, it’s probably easy and cheap to secure the rights to those songs now.

  10. Is creed the best guess so far? I never thought of them as a band that would warrant its own pack. Honestly I’ve never heard anyone admit they’re a creed fan

    1. Well, I am just baffled why anyone thought this would be something people would actually like. Aside from the rare fan or the Christian community, I figure this won’t be very popular (if indeed creed).

I mean, well, they just were not very good is my main complaint.

  11. Hey look, Dan’s in the comments and he has a picture. That’s pretty cool.

I digress, I call it a 90’s pack, because I’m pretty sure people would make fun of me if I bought something called a “Creed Track Pack”.

  12. > Post picture indicating Prince DLC
    > It’s Creed 😡
    > ?
    > Profit!

Crafty. Very crafty, Mr. Elliot. 😐

      1. Well now I have the urge to load up some Prince tunes, so really I should be thanking you. I guess. 🙂

  13. In the Matrix Neo becomes blind and sees the world in gold light. He is fighting against the Machines so I am guessing Rage Against the Machine

    1. “another world where they see a man which was blind gold on the outside”
another blues song on the record is

“Melancholy Blues,” performed by Louis Armstrong and his Hot Seven. 3:05

      But it’s mostly trumpet…
is it a Willie Johnson Five pack? or A blues five pack? Or should I have settled on creed?

      1. I have to agree.
“When dreaming I’m guided to another world”

        Chorus:
Take me higher blah blah blah
“To a place where blind men see”
        yadda yadda take me higher
“To a place with golden streets”

  14. Could it be a clock face?

    12:30 or 6:00
No idea what the square would be so I’m probably wrong
    3:15
    3:15
    9:45

  15. I think I am noticing a little something behind the letters. There’s 5 symbols, and a few of them look kinda like peace signs.

Maybe a photoshop/CS wizard can clean it up a bit.

    1. You are correct, there are symbols hidden in there.

First is a circle with a line pointing up and down (inside circle)
      second is a square
third is a circle with a line pointing right
fourth is a circle with a line pointing right
last, is a circle with a line pointing left

  16. Wish the pic of Dan was the clue… I’d actually be able to help figure it out for once, not that the usual code breaking crew need any help.

  17. I saved the image and checked the properties. Under origin: Program name: adobe photoshop CS6. So I believe you could be right and there is more under. maybe

  18. this is what i have so far, i hope someone can expand on it:

    alium mundum ubi vident
    homines caeco foris auream

    hope mankind/worlds where see
    man blind forums feminine/gold/magnificent

edit: i’m 99% sure there’s another image behind the latin but i don’t have photoshop
    =(

    1. OK so I put that into Google translate, came out with this:

      another world where they see
      blind men without gold

Now I put *that* into Google and the first music related result is… CREED!

“when dreaming, I’m guided to another world…”

“to a place where blind men see…”

The lettering in the clue image does remind me of Alter Bridge back when it was released as DLC some months ago, and Alter Bridge is basically Creed without Scott Stapp.

Also, maybe those five symbol looking things in the background of the clue image spell out CREED.

Now I know Creed gets a lot of sneering, but I personally would love a Creed DLC.

  19. okay, so here are some possible leads:

-It says “more” in the URL
-There’s some sort of code in the background

    1. Yeah, that sure looks like a Prince outfit to me.

Which would be waaaay too easy compared to the usual difficulty.

As you mention, the post writes “Stay tuned for the clue from @UbisoftStudioSF”. But maybe the clue will be related to the picture? A funk DLC?

      1. I would love some more funk in my Rocksmith.

Maybe Prince would be easy for guitar, but would make for a nice bass DLC.

          1. I think he meant the clue was too easy to be Prince, but yes, he is definitely an underrated guitarist, he can absolutely shred. Buddy of mine has seen him a couple at the grocery store near his studio with extremely tall and attractive blonde women. Must be something to purifying oneself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka ;).

I.E.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y Sick Prince guitar solo begins at 3:30.

            1. Yes, I meant the puzzle would have been way too easy. I’ve never gotten one of these puzzles. So there was just no way that the puzzle was

“Look at a picture of an obvious Prince costume ==> Deduce that the DLC is from Prince. ”

BTW, I would love a Prince or funk DLC

            2. Yeah, see the ending solo focus of Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad at ~2:40

And while there isn’t a dominant solo in I Wanna Be Your Lover, I just love the funky timing and the subtle but awesome accompaniment.
