HELLO ROCKSMITH FANS! YOU WANTED (more of) THE BEST? YOU GOT (more of) THE BEST! THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD… KISS!

Story time: Once upon a time I went to rock camp, and during one of those weeks we wound up performing a 15 song set, of which eight of those tunes were by legendary arena rockers KISS. While some may dismiss KISS as a silly proto hair metal band, they’ve always held a special place in my heart and were a big part of my formative music listening years. I know that I’m personally super pumped for this pack, and I hope you guys are too!

Just like the last time KISS came to Rocksmith, we have one song making its rhythm game debut, but all three of these songs are appearing as the original studio versions for the first time! First off, from their 1974 debut album KISS we have “Strutter“, which many of you may remember from Guitar Hero II. Next up, making its rhythm game debut, from 1976’s Destroyer we have the rocking “God of Thunder“, which was also featured on the radio on Brütal Legend! Rounding off this pack we have my favourite song ever written about Gene Simmons’ wang, from the 1977 album of the same name, it’s “Love Gun“!

  1. I picked up the Kiss pack this month which I’m having a lot of fun playing. They are super fun songs for the not so skilled guitarist like me. Plus I’ll confess I was a die-hard Kiss fan when I was a kid. Now I don’t like the band much anymore but I still like their music. Sadly they are a band that has hung around for too long. I stopped going to their live performances because if you’ve seen it once, you’re not going to see anything new at one of their concerts. They just rehash the exact same schtick every time.

  2. Apparently all the writers for this site have nothing to say about All Time Low. That’s too bad. I have no clue who they are or what they’ve done and I really didn’t feel like doing all the research myself. Please come back RR team?

  3. I enjoyed this weeks posts. Mustaine is a musical and literary genius. Fact. He is outspoken politically and philosophically which will always create rifts, understood. KISS is a group that I have no problem with. It’s not the BEST. Popular appeal may be the current standard for the best, which explains the Kardashians. I have seen MD live every chance I get and I don’t feel the least bit convinced that I should question my comments or my taste! Gigantour 2016 is going to be very nice ( and unfortunately hot ).

  4. I am confused. I thought I already had a song pack about a rockstar’s dong. Oh, nevermind. It was “Lick My Love Pump” by Spinal Pap.

  5. This is too horrible. Oh the humanity. Worse than that, did they honestly say this is the best. I survived the 70’s only to have a fat merchandising finger of a plastic Gene Simmons waved in my face. No, you may have taught corporate America that if you dumb something down enough you can sell anything. Just kidding. You Kiss fans deserve the elevator shoes and stuff. I only want someone to retract that best comment. Megadeth is the best. I think the 90’s were best. 80’s were ok. 70’s were good but these guys were the original market soakers. Bon Appetite! Now was Domino or Hotter than Hell in there? Let’s see.

      1. Dave mustaine is one of my favorite guitarist singers.. you are entitled to your opinion but given that you didnt give any examples or reasons can I assume you are being sarcastic? Idc I’m going to assume it anyways.

        1. My opinion of Megadeth is that Dave can’t write lyrics or sing vocals. His songs always come across as a joke to me, but at the same time I don’t really know if that’s his intention.

They have good riffs, but the rest of the music doesn’t back it up as well as it could.

  6. not for me but thats awesome for KISS fans. I really want some Danzig, Dio, Smashing Pumpkins and more Mastodon!

  7. in the video did he play with jazz 3 dunlop?? .. ( i lost my last one and i cant find a store near my house that got some , they ve dissapear 🙁 )

  8. i think … i may be wrong but this is the best fcking 3 pack rocksmith ever made!!! and fckin isnt appropriate cause there s no word for that .

Kiss is exactly what is wrong with music, yes they are talented musicians and face painters but this is where music became more about the show and less about music, this is why we now have ‘bands’ consisting of a vocalist and 6 back up dancers…. For shame

i d really realy like to know what you listen to , to say something like that ??!!

oh maybe you re a Real Man that doesnt love to move all around and get excited but music maybe you love to struck a power chord till it means nothing ( old green day may be the only band that i can listen that does it , by old i mean before dookie , maybe with half of shenanigans) or some of the blues pack ( for me that pack was really bad choice for a bluesy one.. ) or love most of the music over the 2000 that got a market plan behind and every move they make and it sounds like it. Like he says if youre listening to katy perry , lady gaga or any pop star that dance more than siging that kills music , no that just aint music thats singing while trying to please to most ppl they can to get to more money they can .

Those who rocks nowadays dont say they rock in tv shows they just go onstage and rock

just for this pack i d like to apologize for every shitty thing i might have said in the last 2 month about dlc ( .. but hey dont wait 2 month to get something like this again cause my rubbers coming to an end ) , its like a dream having a band with a whole pack filled with greatness

      1. Pink Floyd; they’re totally a “stand there” band w/ minimal showmanship. I’d pay hundreds for even a regroup of surviving members.

      2. I’ll pay $80 any night to see pearl jam… Best band in the x generation.. And they are the only band to have kept it going from the early 90’s.

    1. Guess it’s high time to get back on the R-R with a comment. There are groups in each genre (and even combined genres) that are more about the show than the music. While I’m not a Kiss fan, I can’t agree that they are more about the show than the music. From how I understand it, Kiss was quite nearly, the rock equivalent of the P-Funk. (Probably without quite as many drugs as P-Funk) In both situation as well as many others, the artist knows you go to a show and see 4, 5, 7, 10 people on stage playing the music you purchased. They know you paid top dollar to be in that room with 1K other people. All of you bought the recordings, or at least listened to them, and then also bought the concert ticket. Your reward = receiving something in return more than just 4 guys standing there laughing at the money they repeatedly took from you. That brings up the show.

Music is about movement. It should take you to a place or pull you in from somewhere. Once you’ve reached that spot, bask in it like any single note played by BB King or the sustain of early Carlos Santana. Let it marinate. The show is music in 3D, (or 4D if you’re watching Burned Beyond Recongnition from MWC). Kiss created characters that enhanced their music. And as far as saying they started this, that is not correct. George Clinton was out before them. David Bowie and I believe Alice Cooper were out before Kiss or at least around that time. Same goes for early Genesis. We can even go as far back or farther than Howlin’ Wolf and Little Richard if you talk about music and the show.

Fast forward and I can give you a perfect example of when the show, or the money became more important than the music. I love and grew up in hip hop, but when Puffy and many of the early 90s producers failed to understand there actually is an art to sampling (and it isn’t just riding on a vocaless track), that’s when I saw music starting to suck a fat one.

For those enjoying the Kiss DLC, congrats. “Let’s Rock”.

  9. Don’t have Facebook either…but sure PoTUSA (and Morphine!) would be great….but both guitarists in that band combined have fewer strings on their two guitars than we do on our one…how would that work out?

  10. Amazing pack. I have wanted all three of these songs. I don’t think there has been a week besides Iron Maiden that I have liked every song in a pack. Awesome.

    1. This definetely makes up for the first Kiss pack. I was disappointed that these songs didn’t make it in there. So glad they are in there now.

  11. Definite buy — love all three songs and easily enough great KISS songs left for a third pack as well. I would pick Deuce / Cold Gin / Black Diamond for a start.

  12. Kiss is exactly what is wrong with music, yes they are talented musicians and face painters but this is where music became more about the show and less about music, this is why we now have ‘bands’ consisting of a vocalist and 6 back up dancers…. For shame

    1. I don’t like kiss but your wrong. Rock is all about putting on a kick ass show to compliment your music. That’s usually how you make a name for yourself. I have never seen a band with 6 backup dancers let alone 1. Maybe some Beyoncé, Katy Perry shit.

    2. Everything you just said is completely wrong. They’re NOT especially talented musicians, and the showman element of it is what makes everything more exciting.

  13. I’ve saved so much money the last 2 months I can almost get a new guitar or more weed…yeah prob just the weed. If I had facebook I would comment on that PoTUSA, yes please!!
