Rocksmith’s FaceBook page has been bustling lately with requests for “more classic tunes” and less “Black Keys” so it comes as no surprise that this week is the second incarnation of their “Rock Hits 70s” Pack!
Featuring David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” Heart’s “Barracuda,” and Blue Oyster Cult’s epic “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” these songs will definitely keep you busy till the 31st.
“Rock Hits 60’s-70’s” (Singles)
- (Don’t Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult (Video) – Combo, Combo 2. – [XBL] / Steam
- Space Oddity by David Bowie (Video) – Combo, Chord. – [XBL] / Steam
- Barracuda by Heart (Video) – Single Note, Combo. – [XBL] / Steam
- Blue Öyster Cult Song Pack – [XBL] / Steam
Each song will be available for individual purchase only for $2.99 on the Playstation network and 240 Microsoft points on Xbox Live.
I’ve heard from the developers that one of the issues to be patched on Xbox 360 relates to “Packs” which may be why “The Black Keys Pack” was a PSN only affair. We’ll keep you posted.
Is multiple artists from a specific time period the kind of DLC you want from Rocksmith? Let us know in the comments below!
They have something that the others don't have…Led Zeppelin. Jimmy page won't let GH or RB use his music. why take time to master a fake guitar when you can learn the real thing. RS actually help you learn. I know jimmy will give then the rights to use his music. Spread this and hopefully they will see this and realize that they have advantage over the other company. I just wanna spread their music and also learn them.
I have to say I really enjoy Rocksmith and hope that they come out with more classic rock DLC; as for the Black Keys, I guess I'm biased because I discovered TBK by playing Rocksmith and now I love them. It would be great to get Lonely Boy as DLC.
You buy a guitfiddle, the strap, the amp, strings, pics, cords, chord books, bi-weekly lessons, etc. The game plus the axe plus the "overpriced" downloads is still cheaper. Keep em' coming. But leave that terrible 3 days from a door down grace of abels puddle of nickel puppies garbage out.
More Heart DLC~!
How about a game that doesnt crash when you play DLC ? That would be very nice
That's interesting that "Barracuda" only features single note and combo modes, considering the Free Bird DLC made made mention of part rhythm for that song.
Three great songs. I will be buying (Don't Fear) the Reaper.
I'd rather see some KISS and some outlaw country (old and new school).
Probably get all of these. Rocksmith needs more DLC in a big way.
It's a shame these have all been featured in Rockband already, though.
$2.99 a song? Really? I'm new to both Rocksmith and playing the guitar. I'm actually still waiting for my guitar to arrive in the mail via UPS *sometime* by EoW…
Now, I've played RB and GH for a few years now and I'll admit, I've grown use to DLC costing $1.99/song or $4.99/3-song pack. It's tough times, and after spending close to $200 for the game and a guitar, they want me to shell out $3/song, $8/song pack? I'll wait waiting for sales on PSN or for Ubi to smarten up.
You can't compare it to RB/GH DLC — those songs are simple 5-button entertainment, while Rocksmith songs come with multiple *actual arrangements* to teach you how to play those songs for real.
But if learning a new song on guitar is not worth 3 bucks to you, I suppose you're not really in the target group.
However Rock Band Pro Mode offers 2/3 of these songs (Space Oddity is on Disc and Barracuda is DLC). Guess how much Barracuda costs to play on Rock Band Pro..
Wait for it!
$3.00
Don't Fear the Reaper in on RB1 as well (no pro guitar though).
The point stands though. In RB these days, you can spend $2 to get pro drums, harmonies, pro keys, and all of the standard tracks. For some songs you have the option to pay an extra buck to add pro guitar and pro bass. In Rocksmith you pay $3 and only get the guitar part.
While I enjoy having this conversation over and over I think we'll just leave it at the facts.
Rocksmith gives you the authentic tone, multiple guitar parts, and you can turn off your console and keep playing the song you just learned.
That's worth $9 every two weeks to me.
To each their own 🙂
The only irk that I have was I just bought Barracuda Pro last week… if I had only waited. :/
Then you are not used to the pro mode. Playing the real thing cost more.
If they release anything from the Foo Fighters or Jimmy Eat World i'll be very happy e.e
btw, good week, but these are not songs I'd really like to learn…
Awesome pack! More of this, please! (But as a beginner, I do enjoy some Black Keys as well)
