  1. I try to encourage almost everyone to whom I speak to try Rocksmith. I can think of a few times when people have asked me if there was any Joni Mitchell, so I think this should be fairly popular. I believe I had requested the Counting Crows version of “Big Yellow Taxi” in the past (I also enjoy there cover of the Dead’s “Friend of the Devil”) but this one should be just as fun.

  2. I cant belive we get joni Mitchell before, anything with etta james, richie havens, warren zevon, big momma thorton and a whole list of people. Let alone more hendrix, doors, tom petty, j winter, booker t and the mg’s, stooges and a heap of others. Really want more of the old blues folks, or maybe leadbelly. I’m sure she would be an interesting human being to hang out with but as a singer/songwriter/guitarist joni does nothing for me. Btw I know I’ve made my requests but anyone else ask for any 13th floor elevators, pretty things, bo didley or hell anything and everything from chess records (my favorite label)? I’m just curious. Joni wouldn’t have made my top 100 female artists and I just dont think that many people requested her. There is a whole slew of female blues artists though. None on here. For now anyway.

    1. Oh man, Chess is great. I stumbled across their “Psychedelic jazz and funky grooves” CD that featured a bunch of their artists (Bo Diddley’s “Bad Trip” is on it) and ended up tracking down many of the individual artist’s albums. Big fan of the Rotary Connection and Phil Upchurch.

      1. Considering the entire british invasion alone seemed to be listening to everything chess I actually think they might be the most influential label ever alone as well. I dare not try and suggest anything from the label since I would not dictate personal taste, but muddy, wolf, chuck, bo and etta alone, oh lord. Amazed we dont have more of all them on here. I think like everyone there are things none of us request even though we like it. Captain beefheart comes to mind. I am amazed we dont have things like tom waits though. Never met any charting musician, probably just musicianperiod that wasn’t a fan and never seen a list of singers/songwriters without him on it. Plus he beat out bob dylan for greatest living american songwriter from some song writers group that escapes me at the moment.

        1. Love all your requests and Chess, but I think you are being just a little overbearing in your wants and needs? Pretty sure Rocksmith would give us those artists if it was easy to get them. Also, I am a Tom Waits fanatic, but better songwriter than Dylan? C’mon now! No wonder you can’t remember the place he received the award from lol.

          1. No it was just something of a mix of dumb, banal and innocuous, like american songwriter association. Their named sucked. I liked that they gave it to waits and ot pissed of dylan fans. I have dylan songs I like but a lot of his fanatics are basically trolls. Besides dyaln is more important as an influence then a musician. Case in point he plays and admits to playing all along the watchtower like hendrix to the best of his ability becauses its musically superior. Besides tom waits is leonard cohen as bob dylan would then be henry rollins. Both of whom I like. But henry tells the story of meeting leonard. Leonard says to him henry, “you are a prolific writer. I am not.” At the time henry thought it was a compliment on with time did he realize how brilliant a slight that was. Leonard was telling him writing is rewriting so he does very little while you think everyword is precious so write everything and never think or look at it. Bob can write and while i think the best album he ever made was with the wilburys, while bob is a better writer then most, which is his greatest strength. He still says less while using more words then Tom, thats why Tom won.

  3. I’m thinking that the last time we received a song without any bass in the original recording (electric, upright or synth) was that Fleetwood Mac song a year or two back. My feelings haven’t changed on this issue since then so I’m still not excited when it happens.

  4. This music makes me want to take a trip to canada, smoke a pound of hash and drink maple syrup from a jug.

  5. The metal guys are going to be crying again this week. “Wah wah wah, but what about meeeeeeee???”
