Speculation: Breaking Benjamin makes their Rocksmith debut

Greetings Rocksmith fans!

The clue put up quite a fight this week, but we somehow managed to brute force our way into revealing next week’s Rocksmith 2014 DLC!

Keep in mind we haven’t solved it correctly yet but the password of “100” yielded this result.

Actual Solution (ed- that is awesome)

So we will finally get that @BreakingBenj song pack everyone was asking for! (seriously spend some time on Facebook)

For those unfamiliar with Breaking Benjamin they are a Hard rock, post-grunge, alternative metal band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania but I would more-so classify them as “that band you hear in people’s Call of Duty montages”.

@BreakingBenj also gained some notoriety by being featured on the Halo 2 soundtrack with an instrumental cut of this song.

As well one should note that @BreakingBenj are no strangers to music games, with six songs in Rock Band including a Pro Guitar chart of Breath.

Guitar Hero also received a three pack by the band featuring songs such as Give Me A Sign, Until The End, and Sooner Than Later.

It was most people’s opinion that a pack for this band would be unlikely due to their lower tunings (Drop A# / Drop B) so it will be interesting to see what songs end up in the three pack.

Here are their top 10 most popular songs on Spotify, which one do you think are most likely to make it into the pack? Vote for your top choice!

Is this the type of new music you were hoping for? Or is this too bland for your taste? Let us know!

    1. This week is the no clue week.. pretty sure anyways. Next week is “something truly new” which hopefully will be something big!

        1. I hope you’re right. This announcement left me flat. And there is nothing truly new about this. It’s about as interesting as the All American Rejects pack.

    1. I dunno. I watched Almost Famous just the other day and every time there was a live sequence I thought “this band is not that good”… and they opened for Sabbath?!

  1. I know what we should do…we should start a funk fusion slayer death metal christian country rockband and make beautiful Michael Buble cover albums with pictures of Unicorns on the cover…the solos would make A7X cringe and the chorus would sound like a neutered green day track…and we could sell a 12 track pack for 11.99 cuz 12.00 would be too much and everyone would be happy because the price was right and everyone’s ego was fed…because now they are finally popular…but not MAINSTREAM…PLEASE NOT MAINSTREAM…because then they would be just as mundane as everyone else. I bet someone would complain though.

  2. To quote Rock Legend Billy Joel…”It’s still rock and roll to me.” Sounds ok except for the potty mouth at the end of diary of jane. People have been telling me about these guys for years. Maybe I will listen now. I think I may just buy a doors track…or not. Hmmm…how about some STP, more pearl jam…Dave Matthews Band…Clapton…old people crap…we old people are the only ones with guitars in our music….young people listen to rap and poo. ( just kidding kinda ) I am offended by how many bands I am realizing have had careers since I stopped buying tapes. They should all quit because um…I have got too much catching up to do. Seriously…the lyrics have to be more intelligent than that stuff from the 70’s…right? No? No.

  3. Kinda an odd photo to introduce this band. It looks like a Supervillain leading his merry band of trash collectors.

  4. Please don’t be Muse or imagine dragons… Talk about over rated groups that suck… R these bands rock or just hipster noise..YUCK

  5. Its been a long time since I’ve been this happy about a dLC release! I’m curious to see what tracks are chosen. When live diary of Jane but I would think UniSoft support would be flooded with support requests because notes won’t register on the song.

  6. I know a few breaking Benjamin songs… An average band at their best… Nothing they do wants to make me say I’ll buy this dlc…. It’s hard to follow last weeks dlc!?

  7. THANK GOOOOD a dlc i will actually buy this month. Been waiting a long while for this one. Even though i prefer more “Agressive” music, i DO like breaking Benjamin.

  8. I listened to Diary Of Jane and, to be honest, i did not like it. Though i’m happy for all that like this band!
Now we just have one hint left… (Hoping i’m right with the Muse prediction)

  9. Maybe the “truly new” clue is referring to new, more lower tunings? Just a blind guess, but it gives a opportunity to bands like amon amarth, carcass, arch enemy and other MDM, which usually plays in B standard

      1. Hopefully we see an Amon Amarth pack soon. Another band I’d like to see is At The Gates. Especially Slaughter of the Soul era At The Gates. 🙂

  10. I’ll be very interested by the song choices. I’m predicting all songs are from Dark Before Dawn:
    – Failure
    – Angels Fall
    – Defeated

  11. gross.

shitty band full of shitty people. glad it isn’t a 5-pack.

that’s another cookie-cutter radio-rock band to knock off the list… Seether, Shinedown, 3 Days Grace, Papa Roach, and now this. hopefully we’ll run out of them soon and focus on literally anything else.

        1. “…and focus on literally anything else”

I’m all for diversity. You must not read these comments or the forums regularly or you’d know that I’m open to try everything (and that I buy all the DLC… even this shitty pack, that’s why I’m glad it’s not a 5-pack so I won’t spend as much money on them).

I was in high school during the rise (and fall) of nu-metal. Even the good bands are terrible in retrospect… these ones that road the curtails of the fad and then quickly made the jump to watered-down radio rock for career longevity are the ones that I think suck… pandering lowest common denominator rock to people that honestly don’t give a shit about quality. They just want something with a little edge, a singable chorus and a tough look (while still being safe enough to be marketable).

I’ve even seen BB live… they were terrible and they made some unsavory remarks to females in the crowd (encouraging them to flash them) and THAT’S why they’re shitty people.

So… fuck off? Yeah, that’ll do.

          1. Someday you’ll learn how to converse with other musicians. I don’t like Breaking benjamin much and this week is likely a pass for me but i can respect the value of their music even if it does nothing for me. That is why you appear to be a cry baby.. thanks for actually explaining yourself in this last comment. I see your point about them being bad people.. i never seen them live.

I like Seether, Shinedown, and three days Grace. They are really fun to play and have great tones. Seether i only gave a chance cause of rocksmith and glad i did :p

And no i dont remember every comment you make i do have a life thank you.

Omg not my music, MUST CRY LIKE A BABY! MUST CRY LIKE A BABY! SCREW ALL YOU WHO ENJOY DIVERSITY! WAAAAWAAAA!

              Poor baby la la

Someday you’ll learn how to converse with other musicians.

              Contradict yourself much?

I respect the artistic merit of all music… I just don’t hear much from BB, hence why it’s described as cookie-cutter radio-rock… it’s formuliac, contrived music created with the intention of mass consumption. it satiates the casual listener and excites the naive. These bands all write the same songs.

and I don’t expect you to know every comment made but, I do expect you not to jump to conclusions and immediately make comments like you did on Sept. 19th where you antagonize and infantile someone because YOU don’t agree with them.

You’re obviously a fan and didn’t like that I called them shitty. Sorry to offend you and hope you enjoy the pack. I’m sure I’ll play it once and never touch it again.

              1. It follows a formula like any form of music. Formula’s are vital to music and it ain’t a bad thing. please show me a song that has no formula that people will listen to. I would put jimi hendrix, dire straits, megadeth, as well as The Black Keys, all over Breaking benjamin because i can only listen to 1 or 2 Breaking Benjamin songs whereas these other ones have much more to suit my level, but Breaking Benjamin , The All American Rejects and other one’s who are disliked to have an elitist point of view and seem superior can still be good.. but it’s only a matter of if it appeals to you personally. I love singing and playing guitar to The Black Keys’ Next Girl, and yet I won’t to other simplistic songs, because that’s got nothing to do with it.

As Miles Davis said perfectly “It’s not the notes you play, it’s the notes you don’t play”

and to clear up, I’m not a Breaking Benjamin fan.

      1. I like them, but I did get a laugh at the “bro’s lift mix comment”. Kinda true. I still think we have to get some Trapt, Chevelle, Korn, Rob Zombie, Staind and that one Smile Empty Soul song (did it for the drugs) lol. Then bro mix will be complete, and I’ll totally bro-down to it

    1. sorry to hear that i went to high school during the height of grunge era and now i feel bad for kids that have no music scene to be a part . the real national tragedy today is that we have lost our faith in sex, drugs and rock and roll

          1. if north korea presses the button i urge them to enter coordinates for williamsburg brooklyn home to the biggest d bag skinny jean wearing community there has ever been

  12. If we must have metal at least this band is palatable to me (I didn’t even really know they were metal). I hope the required down tuning works out.

    1. Personally, I wouldn’t consider them metal. They sound more like post-grunge/hard rock to me. But to each his own I guess lol. 🙂

  13. I’m not a huge fan of these guys… I only really gave these guys credit for having a drummer who’s style I really enjoyed (I’m also a drummer). But otherwise I’m really not big on them. My girlfriend likes them so I might get this pack for her to learn the songs. But for me, I pass. Enjoy those who like this band. 🙂

  14. <—takes bong swat. You know what would be sick? some Trans-Siberian Orchestra for Christmas!! get on that ubi!!

  15. I thought that official rocksmith dlc would not go below c standard but most of the breaking benjamin songs worth a damn are drop Bb. unless they go for the hand full of good ones in drop c “so cold” etc. I’m curious how this will turn out now.

  16. oh nice…putting up a video that includes a far better band and song i’d love to play 🙁 mudvayne would be fun too….damn.
btw kudos for guitar pro. 1/4 of the screen is fretboard rest is ugly animation to distract you lol

  17. rest in peace rs2014. i really miss that whole “rock” part in rocksmith. diversity is all fun and games but what was the last dlc that blew out speakers? slayer(that was in may). btw ffs his vocals are bad in that live video.
in febuary is my birthday i think rs can fuck off till then and maybe just maybe i’ll find an actual rock band or metal band that matters at all.
just sayin : no black metal no death metal no hardcore no punk but hey funk and more poppy crap.
see ya in feb. maybe for the last time. and i do know that no one cares. i don’t care that you don’t care.

  18. Diary of Jane is kind of “impossible” because that song is on Drop A# tuning I don’t know of you can transcribe it into Drop C with octaves instead of the original notes or something..

  19. These guys rock. I watched all three of your videos and I can’t wait. Did not comment last week but great selection on the Doors 2 3 pack. Keep us playing rocksmith.

  20. It’s been months since we had a metal pack. The last ones I remember were Slayer and All that Remains. It’s about time Rocksmith.

      1. We just got The Doors last week man.. everyone has their flavor. This week’s just not your week. It ain’t mine either but oh well.

  21. I think it’s kind of fitting that Breaking Benjamin is getting dlc. For me, they were one of the first real rock bands that I heard in a video game. Their song Polyamorous was in the PS2 game Run Like Hell back in 2002. I’m sure someone will have a example of a different band that was in a game before them, but I did point out that it was my first real rock band in a game (not everyones).

  22. I’ve given up on Rocksmith and have gone back to tabs. The dlc lately is just bad.Boring as hell. Still fun to use tone designer tho

  23. Wow this is great. I have been waiting for these guys, Rocksmith just keep it up you guys are doing a great job. Off topic question … now that Axle and Slash are getting along what are the chances of some Sweet Child of Mine…???

      1. Well who knows I going to stay optimistic.

“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.”
― Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere’s Fan

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
        ― Mahatma Gandhi

        Yes GNR is that important.

    1. Hey man, I’m not trying to tell you how to learn guitar here, but with the popularity of GnR and the fact that Sweet Child of Mine is as famous as anything there’s definitely going to be some accurate tabs of it on the net.

So if it’s what you want to learn, don’t wait for Rocksmith.

      P.S. Axl’s a d*uche.

  24. Wow Dan and the boys (no offense guys) are acting like a bunch of children on the forums just because their little puzzle didn’t work out. Yeesh take it easy! Baby wanna take his ball and go home much? *rolls eyes*

As for this band, I like their music but not enough to want to learn it unfortunately. I’m still having fun with The Doors over here.

  25. Dont even count BB as metal!! They go in the crap bucket with all American rejects. 5FDP has a new album out too…c’mon man!

      1. every band has a couple covers and they’re usually not great but pulling the domestic violence card….Really? rock history is littered with women beaters but as long as they’re not singing about it, like rappers, then I don’t care.

      1. your right, they’re “metal”. just like nickelback is a “rockband”. 5fdp is def better beacause all of BB songs are all the same recycled, whiney, heartbreaky, pop junk.

        1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t 5FDP just as bad because all of their songs are “tough guy” related. Or the “come at me bro” type songs they write. We have enough of that in “metal”. And last time I checked, 5FDP are played on the same mainstream pop-rock radio stations as Breaking Benjamin. 🙂

          1. They’re actually very political check out the album American capitalist. As for the radio play last time I checked there are no pure metal radio stations if there are I can guarantee breaking Benjamin would not be in the rotation.

            1. I’ll check it out. I’m not very big on them from the few songs I heard from them. I know they covered a Bad Company song that I didn’t really care for. The only real modern/pure metal radio station I can think of is Sirius XM Liquid Metal and they play neither bands. But then again they play Ghost which makes no sense to me lol.

  26. Seeing them Monday, downloading them on Tuesday. Beyond excited for this one, guessing we see Polyamerous, So Cold, Diary of Jane
