Ubisoft and Gibson Guitar Announce Rocksmith Guitar Bundle

To add to the almost completely positive feedback coming out of E3 regarding Rocksmith, Ubisoft has just officially announced the pricing for their Rocksmith Guitar Bundle!

The bundle will include the video game along with an Epiphone Les Paul Junior guitar and the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable™, a unique 1/4″-to-USB cable; the first of its kind! Developed exclusively for Rocksmith, this revolutionary cable converts the guitar’s signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles and Windows PC. Available at launch and priced at $199.99, this bundle provides an entry-level opportunity for people that have always wanted to play guitar but don’t actually own one. The standard edition of the game also includes the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable and will be available this Fall 2011 for $79.99.

“Partnering with Gibson Guitar on the Rocksmith bundle is a great fit for both companies,” said Tony Key, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft North America. “Gibson is known for making world-class guitars and we’re proud that they stand behind the quality and experience that is Rocksmith.”

“We’re blown away by the innovation that Ubisoft is offering consumers with Rocksmith, and once we saw the game we knew we had to partner with them,” said Henry E. Juszkiewicz, CEO and Chairman of Gibson Guitar Corporation. “With Rocksmith, Gibson sees a whole new audience of music fans that will fall in love with playing the guitar.”

However, there was a bit of disheartening news regarding the game’s release outside of North America, fact being there are no plans for an Europe release. The bright side, is that Ubisoft has a history of having all their games region free, so this won’t be a problem for gamers that usually put up the cash to import.

  1. Not that much of a deal to be honest. If the game is $79.99 with the cable, and $199.99 with the guitar added, that means they're charging $120.00 for the guitar. You can buy the guitar for $129.99 (Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0047YUM9O). So you're saving $9.99. Just trying to keep things real.

  2. Well Well Well….

People want the game but they don't want to buy the instrument so they can play the game. Like I said before on another thread, people don't want to buy the instruments they want to be able to use the instruments that they have even if they are just toy GH and RB guitars. See this is what I believe rocksmith failed to realize, sure it's a teaching game but it's still a game so being that it is a game, the old plastic toy guitars should have compatability at least that's what I believe, I mean if you only had the plastic guitars and all you really want to do is play then why not? it should be compatible. I mean, only a handful of people have actual instruments, majority of the people either don't have any instruments or don't want to bother to pick one up. That's how it is, I mean I want this game, but if the only way I'm going to be able to play this game is buying an actual instrument? screw that buying a real guitar costs alot of money which I don't have, you will roughly spend on the game and an actual instrument about 150 to 300 or more depending on the instrument. Look at rockband with their pro guitar, it sold alot yeah but not as much as they wanted it to sell, it's because people don't see the need of buying it if all they want to do is play the game and enjoy its music…

I hope somebody agrees with me

      1. yeah shocking isn't it?…well it's true, only a certain good amout of people have real instruments, but majority have plastic guitars why?….very simple, because when guitar hero came out it sold amazingly almost a ton of people bought it, and not to mention when GH3 came out, it sold even more…..do the math guy….look at all the GH titles and rb titles are out there, you honestly think majority of the people don't have more plastic guitars over real ones?

        1. I'm entirely certain that you're incorrect. Sorry, but there is no way that the video games have out-sold ACTUAL instruments the world over. Sorry.

        2. i am 100% sure that there are more ppl with actual instruments out there than ppl with rockband and guitar hero guitars. The worlds demographic isnt just 10-16 year old boys and other than that just a cetain amount of ppl have those games. On the other hand intruments go for all ages, genders and not just the videogaming world. You do the math :p

          1. Although I don't agree with him either… he could be right even though I don't think he is… Guitar Hero alone have had like 25million sales, and I myself have owned over 5 guitars…

Guitar Hero Phenom… has gone through over 70 guitars! Now lets just say every player went through 70 guitars, times that by 25 million… that's like 1.75 Billion guitars alone. Then you have any that bought it with rockband… Then you have the drums, then you have the microphones, and not just for guitar hero, for any singing game…

I know that this isn't the true case, but as you like to put everything down to 1 person you know to play it (10-16 yo boys are the only ones that play guitar hero blatently based on one person because even I prove that to be wrong), that must mean as 1 person has gone through 70 guitars… everybody has. Therefore technically more plastic instruments have been sold.

  3. My opinion of the game hasn't changed at all, and won't until some reviews regarding latency start coming in and I get a chance to play it myself (if the reviews are positive and mention that latency isn't significant I'll be picking it up early. Otherwise I'll likely pick it up when it drops to a real cheap price just to try it out).

  4. I'd totally get this bundle if I didn't already have an Epiphone LP Junior. But who knows, maybe I'll pick up the bundle anyways and get a backup guitar, it's a pretty sweet deal.

  5. lolnoeuroperelease

There's no way in hell I'm going to import something which is only of very mild interest to me.
