Some links on this site earn us a commission. This page explains which ones, and what that does and does not change about what we write.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a shop that carries a code identifying this site. If you follow one and buy something, the shop pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price either way. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not out of your pocket.
Programmes we take part in
The Riff Repeater is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
We also link to the Ubisoft Store through Impact, and to a small number of other retailers through Awin. Links to Rocksmith and Rocksmith+ products on the Ubisoft Store are usually affiliate links.
Where these links appear
Affiliate links appear inside articles, in the promotional boxes that sit alongside articles, and on the setlist and DLC reference pages. Older articles going back to 2011 contain them too. A link to a shop is not automatically an affiliate link, and a link to a news site, a video, an artist page or a forum thread never is.
What it does not change
No retailer, publisher or developer pays for coverage here, and none of them see an article before it is published. We decide what to write about based on what is happening in Rocksmith, not on what pays. A song, a pack or a piece of hardware does not get covered because it is purchasable through a link we hold, and a negative review is not softened because of one. Where a company has given us a review copy or a code to give away, we say so in that article.
What following a link sends
Clicking an affiliate link passes your click to the affiliate network, which sets a cookie so a resulting purchase can be credited to this site. The network and the shop receive your IP address and the page you came from. This only happens if you click. The privacy policy covers this in more detail alongside the other services the site uses.
