Hello Rocksmith fans!
Since the delay of Rocksmith+ there hasn’t been much to talk about, but in true rhythm game fashion the ESRB has given up a small morsel of news to digest while we wait for @Rocksmithplus to reveal the release date for the Rocksmith+ Service.
Yesterday reddit user tribeoftheliver posted that the ESRB rating for Rocksmith+ had been posted on the website. What it detailed was four songs (two of which were already DLC for Rocksmith Remastered) to be considered for the Teen rating.
The lyrics are from the following songs:
- A Tribe Called Quest – Buggin’ Out (“I used to smoke the weed out”) [Rocksmith+ Beta]
- Rick Derringer – Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo (“Gettin’ high all the time, hope you all are too”)
- Run-DMC – It’s Tricky (“They offer coke and lots of dope”)
- The Airborne Toxic Event – Why Why Why (“You’d consider me again after smoking some weed”)
Although the game is rated T, there will still be S-words and N-words.
Rating Summary:This is a music and rhythm game in which players learn how to perform songs on electric guitar and/or bass. Players simulate strumming guitar strings and score points based on the accuracy of notes/chords hit. Some song lyrics contain the words “sh*t” and “n*gga” as well as references to drugs (e.g., “…I used to smoke the weed out”; “They offer coke and lots of dope…”; “Gettin’ high all the time, hope you all are too”; “You’d consider me again after smoking some weed”).

Interesting news regarding censorship…
Usually an ESRB rating tells us that the game is 1-3 months from release, so this could be good news for those wanting to get back into Rocksmith+
What about keyboards? Are they in ?
I don’t understand how the game can include a misfits song about murder and rape, but cannot have the words fuck, shit ect.
I find editing a song the single most offensive thing you can do to/with a song. If I don’t like something, I just don’t listen to it.
Just checking in to see if there’s any news.
Love Tribe (miss Phife). No matter what the current trend is in hiphop, they always did their own thing and it was always good.
Puzzled as to why Ubisoft and whomever else, chose Buggin’ Out. To fit this game, ATCQ has so many other hits (Electric Relaxation, God Lives Through, Find A Way etc). They could have even pulled something off the final release which features a lot of guitar and quite a few other interesting musical elements to include Anderson.Paak, Jack White and Elton John on the album.
There were a few ATCQ tracks in the beta
Stupid question but it’s been years since there has been DLC. And I imagine sales have been next to nothing. So how are they being supported by Ubisoft? Is the SF staff doing double duty and working on other games? Just wondering…Two years ago I would have said that if RS+ was seriously delayed the office would close.
Development costs, by definition, are for some future gain. There is always the chance that they’ll cancel, but probably not.
If it’s still a subscription they can cancel it. I won’t use it as long as that’s the model.
Congrats…I guess?
Subscription model is definitely a no go for me. I’m hoping that’s part of why they’re changing.
Well I purchased some songs last month. I know the few pennies I threw in the pot probably didn’t help them much, but if there’s anyone else out there doing the same, maybe there’s still a few coins trickling in. Might be enough for lunch at Ajisen Ramen or a food-truck Off The Grid, I don’t know.
I, too, simulate strumming strumming guitar strings by actually strumming my guitar strings. Great game description, ESRB
