Due to confusion regarding the first question @DanAmrich clarified:
1. There are some highly requested songs which are currently unable to function in Rocksmith 2014 due to their tunings. Would you be interested in buying DLC with adjusted tunings even if it isn’t exactly the same as the original song?
For the record, we’re not talking about pitch-shifting entire songs — like, if a song is in C, we are not talking about shifting it up to E Standard. The original recording will still be the original recording and, outside of a small window of correction (say, A445 down to A440, which we usually can do now but did not always have the permission to do in the past), we are not looking to shift things wholesale. Seems to be some questions about that, here and elsewhere.
This is about changing the tuning of your guitar, not the tuning of the recording. These would be arrangements that would not be what you (or we) are seeing the artists play, but in a tuning that would work better for the game’s note detection. That’s definitely not a small change, so that’s why we wanted to ask how people felt about it. We know that some people really value insight into exactly where the artists are putting their fingers on the fretboard, and some people just want to learn how to play their favorite songs, regardless of other factors. Nothing is decided and there is no wrong answer to the poll — but it’s worth clarifying what we were trying to ask.

personally id have no problem with them just shifting the songs to one of the higher tunings (but keep tabs correct) with a note on what the correct tunings is supposed to be.
Better make new rocksmith with new features like turn off original guitar sound to hear only what player plays?
New song are fine but new lessons would be better.
Using audio stems would limit the songs they could license even more.

I can’t even get most of the fucking songs with drop tunings to recognize a fucking open string note on my bass(so don’t even fucking tell me its my fucking intonation!)…this is worse than fucking pathetic.
So why don’t you fix the fucking DLC’s that are already out and work like shit instead of trying even lower tunings…why don’t we fucking try that first?
*I change my strings every 6 weeks, at which time my intonation is re-checked…
Sounds like you need a new battery in your bass or perhaps adjust the pickups. The software isn’t the problem it’s on your side sorry.
I had a similar experience and known how frustrating it is. I remember an open D on the bottom string being the worst offender. The first thing I tried was switching from a passive bass to an active one and that helped some but what solved the problem for me permanently (and I was convinced the problem was with the game also) was setting a bass up with super thick strings (128-110-95-73) and using that for everything in D standard and lower. Basically doubled my scores on the low tuned songs in one day thanks to awesome note detection.
From the slightly out of A440 to A440? Definitely would interest me. I rarely play the E standard collections that are out from A440 due to it being a pain in the ass to re-tune for each one. I would greatly appreciate the convenience over the exact pitch. 95% of the time I see the song varies from 440 so I just skip it.
To better answer the question, you could provide an example song to try. Then I can give you a better response.
It seems like a lot of commenters didn’t read the post: for songs that Rocksmith can’t detect well due to the tuning, would you rather not have the song, or have the RS team transcibe it so that it sounds close but isn’t exactly how the artist plays it?
That’s the choice. Don’t get the song or get a version that sounds close.
I just want to learn songs. I don’t have a problem with the song not being 100% authentic. My best friend has been playing for almost 30 years. He is awesome at playing by ear consequently he learn some of the songs differently than what Rocksmith tracked. His versions sounds just as good as the original. So why not?
How about basses tuned in BEAD ?

I own many guitars so I don’t care about different tunings but I dislike when I love the song and it’s the only one to like that for example Friday I’m in love by the cure

I dont even really care about the songs they put out because for the most part I think they do a great job of reaching everyone out there who may have a different taste than others. I would like to see some other things that maybe the “expansion packs” would use. How about a pedal… yes I know you would have to spend money on it… boo friggin hoo. But something simple that you could use to get used to using pedals in songs. While playing the game you take for granted the fact that you have to change from clean to distortion… etc while playing. I would pay for that.

I have also thought this!!! Then we could add a loop station in tone mode or whatever its called.= SOLD
Since I have 10 guitars and 3 basses anyway, I’m fine with keeping some in a lower tuning. But I can understand those who only have say one or two guitars. What I usually do is if I tune to say D. I’ll play alot of the songs in D before I tune back. But then again, only two of my ten guitars are in E. The rest are C or B lol. 🙂
also, everyone should have a capo. I’ve found an adjustable “Shubb” capo works best for Rocksmith. They’re only 15$ on amazon. Adjust the tension so it lightly frets the strings. Ive also found it helps if I angle the top (low E) end of the capo towards the headstock around 15-20 degrees
Its bewildering to me how many ppl want the true tuning after all the complaining Ive seen on these forums about retuning. This survey makes me wonder about all the popular Stones songs Keith Richards made in open tuning. If ppl are unhappy about Eb or the high 440s wait until they have to tune to open G 😛

Tom Petty “I Won’t Back Down”
and Muse “Unnatural Selection” on Bass
and I have both in a very large que of songs for the steam sale hopefully happening in a couple weeks. After this round, Ill have almost every song I’m even remotely interested in playing from the entire catalog.
It seems like it would open a can of worms. I have no problem with the songs that are slightly sharp or flat, but changing the fingerings and pitch shifts will cause problems. I want to play the song, not some other close version of it. Same reason I would never want cover versions
I voted no. I would rather see them make songs available as true as possible. For songs that run into issues they should offer an alternate arrangement. I think i would be willing to pay more just for that option. Even if the game can’t detect it I feel like I’m getting to a level where I mute the game listening to my instrument striving for perfection

id rather retune my guitar to match the track, afaik from using logic & ableton you lose a bit of quality even from a slight bit of pitch shifting.
What’s with the “boat sausage party”? Maybe invest in some decent female models just for the photo op and reap the benefits. Not reinventing the wheel because it’s not a new business practice, but contrary to Obama’s policies, the idea of absolute gayness hasn’t translated among the guitar playing population absolutely as of yet. Right?

I vote yes… the more songs I have available the more I like the game… and I agree with others on the e turnings… round off to standard tunings…
I’d have to see some examples of this before I could truly support it.
Overall though, I would rather have songs transcribed how they’re played… even if it keeps out my 7 or 8-string djent.
Wasn’t there a survey about willing to pay to get the Clapton songs back in RS? What happened with that?
No, there was a post on the forums I made years ago asking if people would pay for those songs again

Really hoped there would have been more questions to answer. I got excited about giving them feedback, but was disappointed at how much feedback we could give.
If it gets some good songs in Rocksmith, hell yes you can do that!
I suppose it’s the overly anal purist in me but I voted no. I’ve always felt the real way is a big part of the sound I fell in love with, but I do understand why others just don’t care.
In theory I agree with you but in practice the effect is what Bob described below so it wasn’t because I didn’t care that I voted yes, it was a concession to practicality and in hope that it opens up opportunities for dlc previously unavailable. 🙂

I wish they would pitch shift entire songs to e-standard from other standard tunings, at best optionally. And get rid of those “off-tunings” like A445 as mentioned in the clarification.

Yes, give me songs even if they’re not exactly like the studio version. To be honest, I almost never play the songs that are just slightly off E-standard because of the hassle of re-tuning the guitar to the one-off tuning and re-tuning it back to standard.
+1. I pick a day once a month to play through those songs. I really wish they were just in E standard.
I find it easier to just keep 7 guitars, each in a different tuning. 🙂 Seriously though, I agree 100% – the tuning hassle is just enough to stop me from playing through songs I’d otherwise love to play.
