Song Speculation: Kenny Rogers makes Rocksmith debut in Variety Pack II

Hello Rocksmith fans!

The clue has been posted, and it’s a classic collaboration between @UbiParadise and @DanAmrich.

Let’s take a look.

It took a bit over 30 minutes for RollingStone222 to see what they were hinting at.

You’ve got to know when to hold ’em
Know when to fold ’em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run

Now that’s what I call, Some good advice!

Excellent, another welcome addition to the Country music genre in the ever growing Rocksmith 2014 library.

Given that is a four pack and it’s the successor to the previous Variety Pack@UbisoftStudioSF could put in pretty much anything. So, here’s three obtainable songs from different genres I wouldn’t mind seeing show up.

It’s been awhile since we had some funk

How about some super catchy pop rock/power pop?

Or some Garage Rock/Punk?

What are you hoping to see in Variety Pack II? Are you excited to get some advice from @_KennyRogers? Let us know!

  1. Man U guys all have no taste in rock music… Did all you get bullied in school?…hearing these requests .. Yikes.. I’m dealing with a site filled with nerds and virgins.btw.. I don’t know what Pokemon is.. Must have been to busy playing actual rock and getting laid when that was around?

  2. Eagle-Eye Cherry – Save Tonight
Queen and David Bowie – Under Pressure
    Kenny Rogers – The Gambler
    SR-71 – Right Now

a huge YES to all 4, Im stoked for this one 😀

    1. dont be too quick to write off “right now” it is a killer guitar track with a tight little solo.

      1. Wow…what a pack. Even though I’m not an SR-71 fan, that’s a fairly classic song for that era too.

And “Save Tonight”! What a great unexpected song!

And of course, nothing needs be said about “Under Pressure”

    2. Thanks for posting the news. I’ll pick this pack up. “Under pressure” and “save tonight” are the ones I’m excited about.

  3. As for the clue “Can’t we give variety one more chance.” Hmmm, I’m going to say Jackson 5 “I Want You Back.” Insta-buy. And “Under Pressure” too?! Great week for bass!

    1. “Can’t we give love one more chance” is a lyric from Under Pressure, so I’m sure that’s what they were referencing.

  4. Looks like Rocksmith just posted a photo of Bowie and Mercury. I’m guessing “Under Pressure” is a lock for this pack? Hopefully.

  5. Any one who has,not seen the bottom of this page there is a picture Bowie Mercury if correct insta buy under pressure classic collaboration usually only play guitar gonna have to dust off bass.Im also learning to play acoustic so country music is good also .this weeks pack shaping up nicely hope the last song isn’t low tuning I hardly ever play em

  6. While I have nothing against Kenny Rogers, I’d much rather see Brad Paisley representing country.

    Eastwood
    Camouflage
    Cluster Pluck
    Cliffs of Rock City
    I’ll Take You Back
What a Friend We Have In Jesus

  7. Maggot brain! I would not call it typical funk music though, but two months ago I added a request for it. Let’s all do that!

    Cheers

    1. No this is straight up rock. It just happens to have been played by a high influential funk band.

Happy to see other folks requesting this song. Really hope we get this one at some point.

  8. First time I’ve been here since a long time ago. I was complaining about the lack of variety. So I come back, and what do I see? Variety pack. Thanks rocksmith.

  9. I would love to get Maggot Brain too. I know it’s just a random guess at this point, but we can hope!

  10. I’m not a fan of country (especially the older stuff) but I love the idea of the variety packs so one country song won’t stop me from buying it if the other three are okay. Please lay some funk on us Rocksmith!

  11. About damn time somebody recognizes. MAGGOT BRAIN!!!! Yes.

I’ve written to Guitar One (way back when) Guitar World, Total Guitar for Tab in the magazines and of course requested this as DLC for Rocksmith. Would be nice to finally see someone recognize how good the song is.

Put your headphones on, sit in a dark room with no distractions and just listen to this track. As you get to 7:25 in, its like Eddie Hazel’s guitar is crying.

If they get Maggot Brain as DLC, the only other music that could top it for me would be Zeppelin, VH, In a Silent Way be Santana or SRV. And we all know those aren’t happening.

  12. Cool. I like a versatile pack. I also like surprises. I would love to offer some dlc suggestions but I don’t want Facebook.

  13. alright! didn’t see this one coming. I still remember all the lyrics from the gambler and the coward of the county from early childhood. Im expecting cowboy chords, campy strumming patterns, with some fun little licks mixed in. Should be fun to play.

  14. I sense something along the lines of…
    Kenny Rodgers – The Gambler
Whitesnake – Here I Go Again
Rival Sons – Pressure and Time
Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People
I hope I’m close to right, or that we get these In the future, 5-pack or not

    1. What do you mean “wtf happened to rocksmith?” They’re releasing weekly DLC just like they have been for years.
