Rocksmith+ partners with Mothica for worldwide iOS/Android launch

Hello Rocksmith fans!

Yesterday afternoon @rocksmithplus announced an update on the worldwide release date for Rocksmith+ for iOS/Android!

Currently you can play it in the regions of Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

Rocksmith+, the award-winning guitar-learning app, is launching soon on mobile devices worldwide. On June 9, you can download the mobile app for iOS and Android and start learning guitar anytime, anywhere. New users can try the music-learning service for free for seven days when they sign up for a 12-month subscription. Rocksmith+ is also available on PC exclusively through the Ubisoft Store.

This is good news for regions that couldn’t previously sign up for Rocksmith+ through Ubisoft Connect such as… South America for instance.

In addition, rising star Mothica is partnering with Rocksmith+ to bring her latest original song, “Glow in the Dark,” exclusively to the service on June 12, before it hits streaming services. Mothica’s alt-pop music has gained 200M global streams, and her 2020 debut record, Blue Hour, charted at #3 in the US on iTunes the week of its release. With her music, Mothica seeks to challenge stigmas surrounding mental health; her passionate fanbase connects with her openness on past trauma, depression, and sobriety. Fans can take part in Mothica’s “Jam with Me” TikTok challenge on June 16, featuring her new song, “Glow in the Dark,” by posting content using #RocksmithChallenge and #RocksmithPlus.

An exclusive song is cool but it would also be interesting if multiple Mothica (@dearmothica) songs showed up, like the one with Polyphia for instance…

Or some of her other material

While there seems to have been no mention of the console version of Rocksmith+ since about March 30th, the mobile version is pretty much 1:1 with the PC version outside of the Workshop. Also if you already have the subscription on PC it’s cross platform for your mobile device or tablet!

Will you be checking out Rocksmith+ on iOS or Android on Friday? Or has interested waned waiting for a release? Let us know!

  1. I’m a longtime RS 2014 user who is trying RS+ on my iPhone. I bought a USB to Lightning adapter to use with the RealTone cable, and there’s a significant audio lag. Any suggestions?

    1. Ignore – it’s the Bluetooth headphones causing the lag. Looks like I’ll need an adaptor that can do USB and 1/8” audio

  2. At this point I’ll believe a console version is happening when I see it. Feels like it likely got pushed aside and cancelled because the PS5 and Series-X don’t have optical audio out. Fixing the audio lag over HDMI is less possible for RS2014 on last gen consoles, but maybe something changed with newer HDMI standards.

Are you sure mobile is cross platform with an active PC subscription and wasn’t just a beta test or something for those regions? I don’t see it mentioned in the article announcing the mobile version. The FAQ on the bottom of the main RS+ website still says your subscription is not cross platform. “Currently, your Rocksmith+ subscription is only valid on the platform on which you initially registered. There are no cross-subscription features at this time.” Although I think that’s been there since RS+ was announced, maybe they just didn’t update it?

Hopefully the mobile version can grow the platform. I feel like RS+ wouldn’t be as fun on mobile, but that kind of depends on some unknowns as far as how well it works. Like how much audio lag is present with various wireless headphones, how good sound quality on your phone’s mic is at picking up the guitar, can you play an electric guitar on mobile with a USB-C adapter?

Seems like the verbiage hasn’t been updated for Mobile. I can confirm it’s cross-platform. You can’t be on both platforms at the same time though

      >can you play an electric guitar on mobile with a USB-C adapter?

Yes, you can use any recording device that works with iOS or Android from what I’ve been told
