Song Speculation: Johnny Cash closes out 2017 with TEN songs

Hello Rocksmith fans!

RollingStone222’s devious clue has been solved and it looks like my suspicions were right, as 2017 will end with a TEN pack from The Man in Black himself, @JohnnyCash!

Let’s check out this week’s clue.

Oh yeah, it’s a GIF

On the right track…

NotRolo knew the password was “Sweethearts”

Slow down Firekorn, you gotta solve the puzzle!

Is this the answer we were searching for?

Wow! It’s a TEN pack from @JohnnyCash!

Cross a song off the Guitar Hero 5 setlist!

As you can see from the above, @JohnnyCash is no stranger to music games. In Guitar Hero 5 they had a character model for Mr. Cash to play Ring of Fire. In January 2011, Rock Band 3 received 9 (or 10 if you count the RB3 version) songs from The Man in Black!

What follows is speculation

Ok, but if they licensed this… Where is my @nineinchnails song pack?

We’re going to prison

This would be great

dat bass

You know this song goes hard

don’t mess around with Cash

I only know this song because of NCIS…

This would be great

@OsagaTheGreat is hoping for this one…

Are you excited for a TEN pack from @JohnnyCash or is this a disappointing end to 2017? Let us know!

  1. First time ever for me to buy 4 DLCs in a row! Looking forward to this one. Hope “A Boy Named Sue” is on it.

  2. It seems like the beginning and ends of 2017 should switch places. While not overly thrilled at the announcement of this pack, out of respect for JC’s legacy, he definitely needs to be a part of Rocksmith. I think U2 would have been a better fit to end the year and Johnny to start it. I’m not sure how many of us could, off the dome, name more than 5 Johnny Cash songs. The odds are greater if asked that same question in relation to U2.

Anyway, I am interested in learning some country, although for my tastes 10 from Johnny is a bit much. Now if you gave me 10 from Brad Paisley, I’m down. Another good option could be or a mixed country pack that includes the Dixie Chicks, Alabama, Vince Gill, Brooks N Dunn, and maybe a few more recent and older country artists.

While it’s a good bet that I won’t buy the whole pack I’ll surely get a few songs. Not an amazing way to end the year, but then again, nearly the whole year has been stellar. The bar was already set pretty high.

    1. Oh, forgot to mention something. Since the clue was going to prison, I’d GLADLY take a 10 pack from B.B. King over Johnny Cash. That would have been another drop the mic moment.

  3. I’m one of those players who is just mediocre and hasn’t ever hit 100% on anything (can’t blame my guitar either – it’s a US-made strat so it holds its tuning really well). So I love it when packs come out that I can mostly play (95%+) with songs that people will know. Cash sits in that sweet spot. So does Bob Marley.

Don’t get me wrong, I bought SRV, Hendrix, Rush, Yes, Dead, etc the moment they came out, but most of those songs are stuck at 85% at best. I will also instabuy Knopfler, RHCP, Phish, Steely Dan and numerous other I will also fail to perfect.

I’m just constantly blown away by the fact that the Rocksmith team keeps slogging through that top 40 list each year. This might have been one of the best DLC years when most games tap out after 1 year of DLC. Can’t wait to see 2018. Just please don’t put Zeppelin behind a loot box. Because I will HAVE to buy those boxes.

  4. Nice!!! Another great year sealed with Rocksmith DLC! Thanks to Rocksmith & RiffRepeater for the community and support! I hope one year from now we can all be celebrating music on this forum as a community of music lovers. I always enjoy reading each and everyone’s comments, and humbly participating myself. God Bless! #whenthemancomesaround

  5. I just got a new Variax Standard so this is good timing for me. Looking forward to a mega pack from one of the all time greats.

  6. I will almost certainly buy a few of these, but I doubt if there are even 10 Johnny Cash songs in existence that I want to learn. It’s OK, not great.

  7. Wow, a Johnny Cash 3-pack would have made a decent mid-year filler pack but having a ten song country pack as the end of year pack is a bummer to me. All I can think about are the other artists that I would rather see get a 10 pack instead of Johnny. I’m happy for all the Johnny Cash fans in Rocksmith land but honestly you probably didn’t need Rocksmith to learn these songs. Another year passes without Chili Peppers. :*(

    1. I was thinking the same how many artists I would like to see a 10 pack from before Cash but still he’s a legend and cool to see that they recognize him as such

      1. Yeah, I agree. I love his music. I’m not super excited to play it on bass but I’m glad he made it into the game.

    2. I’m glad I’m not the only person who thought this. I like Cash, but a 10 song pack is excessive. It’s rare we get a pack that big. Jimmy Hendrix makes sense. Johnny Cash does not.

Maybe next year we’ll get a 10 pack from a more guitar centric artist. (Chili Peppers would be wonderful).
