Hello Rocksmith fans!

Quite a change from our previous DLC, but we have a brand new artist to the Rocksmith Library!

Let’s check out RollingStone222’s clue for this week.

Don’t ask me… I’m no mathematician

What do the numbers mean?

very quick minded of you

Maybe?

Surprise! ?

It’s a THREE pack!

This is the first time @NorahJones has been in a music game (outside of Karaoke Revolution and Lips)

What follows is speculation

Would be remiss if this wasn’t included, so jazzy

  1. Great stuff again from Rocksmith!! They deserve every penny for the work they put in! I’ve loved a majority of their choices for songs! 🙂 I play bass armless with my feet. See me play Satch Boogie 100% with my toes at

  2. WTF???? April fools was last month! I love how they tried to soften the blow with a THREE pack of metal first.

  3. Hey I’ve got a question and this seems like the group who would know. Since some of us, when we actually have the time and say at 2am like to turn this game on and have been using it for out own amusement. I’m fairly certain that i can’t be the only one who has quite literally made thousands of song requests. So here is the question because i know i have, has anyone else successfully requested a song more then once if not even more then twice? Does this mean that after a certain time they just throw out our requests? Also what do you find to be the sucsess rate of your requests, especially if youve been using for more then 5 years. Mine is under 1%. Regaurdlesx of genre, sales, influnce ect.. Jackie brenston`s rocket 88 is the first r’n’r song with the first distorted guitar ever recorded. Would be an awesome song. We dont have it. Imagine any genre without distorted guitars. Thats a wtf kind of thing. Like lemmy telling rollins he remembers when there was no r’n’r. Thank god we dont live in a rosemary clooney world. Although we would still have Django and leadbelly. Still would be very different.

      1. Literally none. I like tom waits, the doors, sepultura, chuck berry, godflesh, tom petty, nin, leadbelly, ramones, the stooges/iggy and the stooges/iggy pop, django Reinhardt, black sabbath, 13th floor elevators, the velvet underground, lou reed, john cale, howlin’ wolf, louie armstrong, slipknot, stone sour, eels, johnny winter, treat her right, morphine, slim harpo, ccr, lightnin hopkins, john lee hooker, muddy waters, johnny thunders, new york dolls, and at least a few hundred others but nothing pop. Hate micheal jackson, madona, loiue prima, tlc, beiber, fleetwood mac anything on the radio or popular on youtube essentially. Only like musicians who write their own songs, play thier own instruments and aren’t autotuned. Sorry dude.

        1. Oh screw it, hendrix, zeppelin, celtic frost, bo didley, satyricon, sister machine gun, 16volt, red harvest, rammstein, samael, steppenwolf, booker t and the mg’s, fear factory, white/rob zombie, ministry, a perfect circle, joe lious walker, george thorogood, joe bonamassa, static-x, brownsville station, killing joke, soundgarden, ratm, audioslave, prophets of rage, warren zevon, elmore james, city of fire, pantera, hank3, rebel meets rebel, front line assembly, revolting c o c k s, koventary, lard, so many more but I’ll stop now

          1. Gf has to do something tonight with her kid and i work early so brain keeps reminding me of what i forgot, Zappa, buckethead, rhcp, mudhoney, cornbugs, captain beefheart, cult, cure, tool, p.j., traveling wilburys, prong, tool, primus, monster magnet, pigmy love circus, pretty things, pink floyd, kovenant, ffdp, soulfly, hum, hellyeah, sex pistols, albert bb earl & freddie king, crystal method, stp, tad, jp jones, robert plant, dire straits, breed77, black label society, opeth, nailbomb, hatebreed. I’ll really try to stop now.

    1. I’ve been requesting for about five years and have probably had about 15-20 of my requests become dlc. I make a point of requesting songs that I think have a fair chance of making it though. I know what bands they can’t get, I go for songs that are/were popular or that appeared in other music games and I don’t bother requesting that rare 70’s funk song that I like but that no one else has ever heard of or cares about.

    2. Hi Oni. The system doesn’t let a person request a song more than once. It used to, and some brave soul requested one song which shall remain nameless a whopping 403 times. We threw out 402 of them. That is the only time we will throw out a song request — when it’s duplicated by the same person, or someone uses spam accounts to try to flood the box.

All requests go into the same database we’ve kept for several years, whether those were submitted several years or several hours ago. We use this data a lot to try to predict what will be successful and which specific tracks we ask for from any given artist, so that we hopefully pick the “right” songs for the most people who like that band. But the requests persist and do not expire; every request you’ve ever made has been recorded and is still in our database.

Here’s an FAQ about song selection, requests, licensing, and basically a lot of stuff related to your question here. 🙂 https://forums.ubi.com:443/

    3. Patience is a huge thing here. Perfect example: many of the artist you mention take a while, and as Ubisoft has mentioned, good timing, to acquire permission for use in Rocksmith. One thing that I would think helps is to have a wide variety of tastes; however, the biggest thing is patience. There’s so much music to get to, no one person is going to be perfectly satisfied.

For me 2016 leading into 2017 was a peak time period. In a similar way to what Wisenheimer mentioned, I try to request what will actually have a chance. For example, as a fan of Bob Marley, I didn’t go in and request a whole lot of deep album cuts. I prefer Satisfy My Soul Babe as apposed to Satisfy My Soul. Since the later song is more well known and has a greater chance, that’s the one I requested. On the flip side, Ubisoft has to accept what the artist/label is willing to give out. As you can see from April last year, many of us prefer the live version of No Woman No Cry. Ubisoft got the album version. I take that as a victory that at lease we got something.

I will say that occasionally, I will request a deep cut here or there. While I’m sure we’ll never see Van Halen, I toss in a deep cut every so often such as Balichutherium, Aftershock, and D.O.A. You never know what could happen. And with that thought, I still go in and request artists like Zapp, Cameo, OutKast, Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac, the Dixie Chicks, Brad Paisley, the Black Crows, and Prince. I don’t honestly expect that ANY of them, save for maybe Paisley, to ever make it to this game. The thing is you never know unless you try. Didn’t expect Marley, and I didn’t expect Huey Lewis and the News.

There’s also the thought of paying attention to what’s already going on. Last year I solved one of the monthly clues simply off logic. I absolutely love Howlin’ Wolf, but it made no sense to me that we had both Wolf and the Rolling Stones but no Muddy. I’d been requesting him for a while so when that clue came up, it was clear what was coming. I look at Run D.M.C. the same way. With the Beastie Boys, I feel it’s possible now to see Run D.M.C. in the game. We have ONE SONG from the P-funk collective. As difficult as it is to get at George Clinton’s music, if you read the post over the past few years, you can see how many of us are holding on to that one spark in hopes that one of the most underrated guitar solos in all of rock music will make it to Rocksmith.

With a wide range of tastes, I might have been around that 1% you mentioned, prior to 2016. Then the bottom fell out. ABC by the Jackson 5, SRV, U2, Booker T & the MGs, Marley, some hiphop from the Beastie Boys, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Alabama Shakes, a little Huey Lewis and the News, Muddy, the Four Tops, and Steve Miller. I think everyone in this forum will have their moments. It is also for this reason that I don’t complain about the DLC. My tastes probably don’t match many others in here. With that in mind, there are a wide variety of personalities to get to on top of simply teaching us all to play guitar. (also, I haven’t had time to get through most of that music.)

And there’s so much music for Ubisoft to get to. They’ve hardly touched jazz, country blues, hip-hop, and funk. They haven’t touched, gospel or flamenco. With all of this going on, patience and paying attention to what you request are huge. I request James Brown. I’d request Super Bad (mainly because of Bootsy) but I know it would be passed over in favor of the more well known Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag so that’s where I go. Balance that out with how I requested JLH. I have requested Chill Out by John Lee Hooker, even though I know it would be passed over for Boogie Chillun. Doesn’t hurt to try, but don’t go overboard. We may never see Red Hot Mama by Funkadelic, but Lord pleas BRING ON MAGGOT BRAIN.

    4. I’ve had about a dozen songs I’ve requested get in game.

I’m surprised we haven’t had The Police pack 2, or Maiden pack 2.

Hell you know The Ramones could do a ten pack and it would only take a week to transcribe but no pack for them yet.

Just have to keep waiting, it only lets you request a song once.

  4. I’m sort of excited for this one her style of jazz, country, blues and pop is very unique. I have been hoping that one day we get some classic jazz guitar but it’s getting closer at least

  5. Wow. Kinda hurt by this one. While I like Norah’s first 2 CDs and love Sunrise,, it feels like we’re scratching the surface on a genre here. Wish they’d gone full on George Benson or Fourplay.

  6. Wow, instead of cool chick who plays guitar we get one who writes songs for your grandparents to dry hump to. Rocksmith people have lost their mind

      1. Who says im mad? Severlyndisapointed by horrible taste would be more like. Why not give us big momma thortons hound dog, or koko taylors wang dang doodle (did chester burnett play that first? Aka howlin wolf) i want awesome music not tasteless talentless disposable waste of time pop. There isnt a good pop song in history.

        1. Oooh, Lawd, you just hit a nerve. Blues party.

Yes, please allow Willie Mae to address the hound dog in the room, and don’t forget to bring in Koko Taylor (yes Wolf did that song first but Koko really put that stankonia) I’m sure Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and a young Aretha will join in.

Oh, you’d have to close things out right. Ladies and gentlemen, please pick up your SG and lets someday usher Sister Rosetta Tharpe to the front of the congregation. Could probably use some added assistance from Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton as too.

Yeah it’s time for some stick to your ribs blues.

        2. POP doesnt only refer to popular music that you don’t like, it includes all pop-ular music.

Example RHCP are one of the most requested bands for rocksmith, and most of their singles have received serious radio play, that makes them “pop” (pop-rock)

Pop is rarely a genre on its own, its more a label, with a bad image.

It would be foolish for Rocksmith not to get popular music.

      2. Bro, you seriously need to chill and stop being the self-appointed message board police! People can have opinions and thus why MESSAGE BOARDS ARE CREATED! You are quite a bore, but I am pretty sure you have heard that many times. Stop taking life so seriously and stop getting so butt hurt by opinions of others that don’t conform to yours.
