If you’re North American, then it’s likely that you may be scratching your head trying to figure out who this next band is. If, however, you live in Europe, then you may be jumping for joy! That’s right, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro are making their Rocksmith debut next week!
Here you can find Dan’s hint:
For a while the prevalent guess was for Quiet Riot, mentioning the fact that they changed Come to, well, a particular word that sounds a whole lot like it, but may get this blog targeted by some work filters. It didn’t take long, however, for Scienceisfun to figure out the true meaning of this clue!
Dan confirmed this as being correct, and in the process, confirmed one of this week’s tracks, too.
So, with that out of the way, let’s take a look at what could be coming next week!
Black Chandelier
I somehow get the feeling this song might have come over to North America at one point, or at least Canada. I heard this song constantly over the work radio for a good couple of months.
Many of Horror (When We Collide)
Confirmed by Dan in the hint thread.
Mountains
This song is Biffy Clyro’s highest charting single, so it would be missed if it’s not featured here!
Opposite
A while ago, we posted an article about becoming a campfire guitarist. The softer sound of this song would definitely be another great contender for that list.
That Golden Rule
And finally we go from a slow, more mellow tune to an all out rocker! While perhaps not über-complex, this will definitely be a fun song for people to play.
What songs are you hoping for? Are you excited for this group, or do you wish Rocksmith would only release bands that are popular in America from now on? Let us know in the comments!
Hell yeah!
Mountains is confirmed.
So happy that one of my favourite bands is coming to rocksmith! If they do include a softer song I’d prefer God and Satan though , but thats probably a longshot
never heard of these guys but I did become familiar with some other great bands due to rockmith, Muse and AlterBridge to name a couple.
Well, this is Scottish music.
Ryan McSeveney why describe Nu Metal as drop tuned nonsense? it seems your guilty of the same simplistic analysis I am. Iron maiden is also born of a different era than linkin park so naturally you wouldn't compare the two. When I was sighting Korn and the deftones for comparison I had hoped you would see past the "Nu metal nonsense" ,and focus on the dynamic of each band on their own. While they are both Nu metal they're sounds are unique, and quite different. The same could be said about linkin park they are a hybrid of hip hop, and nu metal so to compare them to anything even nu metal well thats a stretch ( for arguments sake I'm not referencing their last couple of records).
The guitar is not that intricate. Hell if they changed up the vocals and screamed the chorus they could easily jump genre. Or even if the lead singer just gained some vocal range and tried a more dynamic approach to vocals.
A little insight as to who I am , my favorite bands are radiohead and the mars volta. Doesn't mean I hate all other music, doesn't mean I don't listen to anything else. It just means that's it for me. When it comes to creativity, and riffs that aren't "drop D nonsense" that's what comes to mind. Even the lyrics leave me vexed their either very profound or literate. When I stated meh its not for me that's why. For my tastes Biffy Clyro is just a bit to simple, & their sound for "me" lacks energy.
Is this popular somewhere? Ive heard them on satellite a bit but never mentioned as a fav by an actual person.
Im all for everyone getting a little of what they like for DLC, im just curious who those people are sometimes.
Dentist office music.
The first time i heard this band was in the Dentist office waiting room so its makes my teeth hurt.
Its not bad music but not interesting to me guitar wise. Meh.
All i really care about is Rocksmith doing well so they keep supporting it, so if this is a good DLC selection im happy they released it. Even if i have no plan to buy it.
Looks awesome. I am totally unfamiliar with the band, but after taking a break last week this is a definite purchase for me.
good to see that RS has gotten some more foreign rock, now here’s hoping we can get some Scandinavian Leather in future dlc’s.
This is awesome! I hope bands like this pave the way for Twin Atlantic to be featured in Rocksmith 🙂
Che Coprenicus Lund Yes, I am an Avid listener. Not just of Biffy Clyro, but of music in General. The fact that you have even thought that describing them as "soft-alternarock trying to pretend its Nu Metal" suggests that you don't really know what either genre is. And your reply to Alexander sort of hammers that point home.
Nu-Metal is a sub-genre of metal. You couldn't lump, say, Iron Maiden with Linkin Park because they are both utterly different sub genres of Metal. Same with Not being able to compare Dead Kennedys with the Clash, as they are DIfferent Sub Genre's of Punk. And, yes, I would put early Deftones next to Korn, but I wouldn't describe Deftones as nu-metal now either.
Biffy Clyro REALLY couldn't pass as Nu-Metal in any world. The guitar is far more intricate then the dropped tuned palm muted nonsense that was 90% of nu metal, the lyrics are generally uplifting and outward looking(apart from a couple of ballads here and there).
Alexander Pettersson Korn is one instance of nu metal, and a very obscure one at that. You wouldn't put korn next to the Deftones would you? They're both Nu metal but, I wouldn't immediately jump to deftones when talking about bands that sound like Korn. Just like you wouldn't put the clash next to the dead kennedys and call it exactly the same thing. Sub categories aside my point was meant to vindicate sound as opposed to genre. In a world where the lead singers voice doesn't sound so pop like they could easily pass as nu metal.
Ryan McSeveney are you an avid listener because I'm not. I can honestly say they're are the first band on rocksmith I haven't heard of. Yeah that might not say alot but the point I'm trying to get across is that the first few songs I've heard are well the ones promoted so yeah my opinion might be a little off. Maybe nu metal wasn't the right thing to say but on the spot its what came out.
Never heard of these guys, but after giving them a listen, I like them. I liked their earlier albums better than the new ones, though.
I’m gonna be sorely disappointed if “Mountains” isn’t included. Holy jeez, that soaring chorus. Can’t help but think this band would’ve been so much better in Rock Band though because all three band members sing lead and harmonize often, plus those strings/piano arrangements are BA.
Pretend they're nu metal?

Yeah, no, they totally sound similar.
Thats a terrible description? It's like someone trying to describe a band using a genre that they haven't actually heard.
meh, its not terrible its just not. Well the band sounds kind of generic like soft-alternarock trying to pretend its Nu Metal, but I suppose somebody has to like em or think their riffs are fun so I guess I'm indifferent.
This week pass, this is very easy for me
Gotta love those singers who blur out their band mates behind them. I think there is too much me, me, me anymore and less and less we, we, we.
Led Zeppelin never did that because every band member was key and everyone in the band was in spot lights.
That’s not entirely true. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page used to hog the stage like crazy. Their egos are enormous.
I guess if there is only one talent then the band is named for that one person.
By the way, which one’s Pink?
https://www.digitalspy.com/
Thanks Elliot, that helped explain the name. I’m even more disappointed by the name.
Pink Floyd reference. I get it. 🙂
I think with the ratio of songs released as dlc. that Rocksmith NEEDS more songs from Australian bands. Because about 4 is a very low amount compared to the songs released altogether. I'm getting this pack though as I am a fan of Biffy Clyro.
not bad…
but not for me
Now this I will buy all day long, the missus is finally going to ask for a divorce when I murder her favourite band 🙂
Hoping Many of Horror is on
The golden rule reminded me of the Foo fighters
Amazing, definite buy for me !
Mountains looks fun on bass:

Awesome, vaguely know them, but they sound good. More my kind of music than a lot of the recent DLC I’ve bought.
Never heard of them but I checked out the videos and was impressed. Initially I thought it would be another heavy pop punk band but was really surprised. I like it – think I’ll be getting it. Love it when I hear new stuff!
Who?
THIS
It says right in the Title…. Seriously.
Or is this one of those super sarcastic posts that imply’s that because they aren’t in your own sphere of knowledge then they clearly aren’t worth knowing about?
Best dlc ever!
Who? I listened to the songs and I don’t hate them. I might consider this dlc depending on the songs. Lets get some John Mayer dlc. He can rock his strat off.
Fuck yes. I have been asking for Biffy for nearly a year. I'm hoping they throw a couple of earlier songs on as well, either from blackened sky or vertigo of bliss.
AWESOME!!!
I so hope Black Chandelier is on there! This is a fantastic band that I’ve followed for years and years.
Bassist uses Drop C a lot I think. Will be interesting.
Oh really? damn it. I always thought these guys were rock music for people who don’t like rock music… and they have the stupidest name ever. Still, I’m pleased for those who like them.
do you wish Rocksmith would only release bands that are popular in America from now on? WTF No way we need English, aussie rock not just American music
And this band? ❓
Ehh…. it’s not bad it’s just.. I wonder if the folks over at Rocksmith actually have something interesting they’re sitting on and week after week they just hold back on us or if they really don’t have much and this is the best they can do.
Pretty sure that, since the UK is the 2nd biggest Market for Rocksmith, this is something that have been sitting on. Biffy Clyro are a pretty big deal over here.
Gave the songs a listen. For some reason I imagined these guys would be a little heavier, but they’re honestly not bad. Don’t see myself buying the pack though, since I’m too cheap to get any DLC I only kind of like. But then maybe I’ll be blown away by how fun they look to play or if they have songs not listed here that are even better, so like always I’ll just wait and see.
If you want their heavier stuff, listen to There’s No Such Thing as a Jaggy Snake
…and not for the last time I’m sure, I find myself saying… who?
That is so… true. But I’m up in the air on this one.
Sweet. I’ve heard of them and I come from Australia. they’ve been on the rock radio station from where I live. as for songs I think it could also include “Semi-mental”, “Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies”, or also “Biblical” and “The Captain”
They are a 3-man band, so I guess that`s 1 guitarist, but I`m not sure if that means Rhythm is totally out of the picture? Does anyone know if they record a Rhyhm chart / do Rhythm guitar with the extras on their concerts?
I will have to see the charts to make a final decision, but overall I`d say pass. At least we got rid of this month`s pop rock. Hoping for something more exciting soon. Till then I`ll just keep forgetting we got Billy Talent not so long ago with Micheal some more.
Listening to the songs (first time I’ve heard anything by these guys), there’s definitely a lot more going on in the recordings than just the three of them, it seems like they really go all out with piano and/or string sections when they feel like it. Many of Honor is the only one where multiple guitar parts really jumped out at me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if most if not all of the songs have them considering how layered they are.
They play live with 2 guitarists, so a lot of stuff from Puzzle onwards has both rhythm and lead.
alright, thanks
Another band that’s played on satellite but I just couldn’t quite get into.
Not bad.
interestng!
