Speculation: Lynyrd Skynyrd brings a second helping to Rocksmith

Greetings, Rocksmith fans!

Looks like we can cross “Southern Rock Icon” off the July newsletter, let’s have a look at the clue Dan prepared for us:

And Dan confirmed it’s a three pack, with one song from Second Helping (how appropriately punny). So what could we be seeing next week? Considering that we already have three of their big hits, predicting this shouldn’t be too tough:

Their other popular song from Second Helping that isn’t Sweet Home Alabama

A killer guitar solo and infectious riff would make this a perfect fit for Rocksmith

One of my personal favorites from them, plus dat solo (either this or Saturday Night Special)

So what do you think, Rocksmith fans? Are you excited to finally complete that dream 5-pack DLC of Lynyrd Skynyrd with three more songs, or is Free Bird all the Lynyrd Skynyrd you can take? Let us know in the comments, and check back with us on Monday!

  1. HA!…. I agree whit everything you said below.

If you like a band and u get a chance to meet them and they turn out to be an ignorant pack of a$$hole$… I’m sure you would see them in a different light..

  2. Wonderwaage is trying his best to take over my spot .. What a tool…

Give me 3 steps would also be a great choice

  3. Tuesday’s Gone will be going straight to my dlc list. I’ve been playing it on acoustic for years but never found out how to do the lead part. This should be fun!

Saturday Night Special and That Smell would round this out quite nicely.

  4. Saturday Night Special and Gimme Back my Bullets. Tuesday’s Gone would be nice as well. Now that the southern rock is out of the way, here are some must needed DLCs:

    – Johnny Be Goode
    – Free Ride
    – Train Kept a Rollin (Aerosmith version)
    – Baby Please Don’t Go

  5. I wonder if there’s any chance of getting “The Ballad of Curtis Lowe” or “Needle And The Spoon.”

  6. Skynards a bunch of born again bible thumpers these days
more likely to fly a rainbow flag than a confederate flag in concert today
I prefer the old Skynard band that “ruined” a young Jodie Foster

  7. So Excited! I can’t wait for Tuesday. Lynard Skynard is my favorite band!

    My dream pack:
    -Tuesday’s Gone
    -Ramblin’ Man
-I Put A Spell On You

  8. Guys I’m never happy… Let’s just say I’m content.. … I used to work security at the starlake amphitheater… Met more bands than I can count…. I know which guys are assholes and which guys are cool and treat fans great… Skynard is on my good side

    1. Who gives a shit what kind of people they are? I’d buy some Morrissey, even though he is an obnoxious cunt. It’s the music that it’s all about. I’m not buying concert tickets, I’m buying the opportunity to learn to play the music.

      1. This is a valid concern, imo. Buying the music vs buying concert tickets doesn’t really make much difference, by the way. You are still supporting the artist in either case.

If someone is an asshole and stands for something that I am against, then I won’t be buying their music, going to their concerts, watching their movies, etc. All that does is give them more money and implicitly support them.

If people stand up for what they believe in, then it makes the world a better place a little bit at a time.

          1. Well, thanks for the polite discussion. We differ in opinion…so what? You should try and be more open-minded and respectful of the perspectives of others. I was just trying to explain that he and I share (gasp) a valid concern, as it is a concern that many people have.

Are you guys honestly telling me that you don’t believe that where you choose to spend your money matters in the least? Sure, corporations are slightly different, but actors, musicians, and athletes are some of the highest-paid people in the world. Every dollar you send their way only fuels their success more and it does support them. The problem is not that many celebrities open their mouths and shit comes out…it’s that they are role models (somehow) to many and those people listen.

A new artist gets big and then spews all kinds of hateful slurs at concerts and in interviews. Would you continue to buy their music and support them? Really?

I don’t know why I am bothering to try and discuss this, since apparently my opinions and thoughts are only falling on deaf ears.

        1. If people would stop putting value on what morons who can play music think and what opinions they have (since they are basically worthless), it wouldn’t matter if you went to see them or downloaded their songs. They aren’t corporations or organized labor unions, they are people who perform music…. Besides, if I stopped buying music from everyone that was an asshole there would be a very very short list of purchaseable music.

  9. I love every song on “Second Helping”.
From that album, I would pick…
    Swamp Music
    I Need You
    Needle And the Spoon
    Workin’ for MCA
    Don’t Ask Me No Questions.
The other two songs can be whatever and I’ll be happy. 🙂

  10. I like the live one of Sweet Home Alabama from Guitar Hero and Rock Band but Rocksmith have never done live songs before.

But I really hope they add Tuesday’s Gone as that is the only song I will buy.

  11. If its Lynyrd Skynyrd I hope if only one its That Smell, but if three or more pack all of the above plus That Smell.

  12. Skynard wishlist
    Curtis Lowe
    Tuesday’s gone
That smell… And please lord let’s not get any more redneck than that!

    1. Look everyone, he’s all grown-up! What a joyous occasion!

As much as I “enjoy” your typical posts, I am truly happy that you are ok with this artist/pack.

  13. Prediction:
    Sweet Home Alabama
    Three Steps
    Saturday Night Special

    Preference:
    Mr. Banker
    That Smell
    Tuesday’s Gone

    1. Hey Sweet Home Alabama, Free Bird, and Simple Man are already available for down load. Free Bird came with original Rock smith. Check out your download center for these. Good luck.

        1. Oh, didn’t know about that. Never picked up RS 1.

Okay that brings up a question. If I got RS1 (Xbox) is there a way to save those songs on the machine so that I can play everything using just one disc, or will I need to switch back and forth between games?

          1. if you own it rs2014 pops up an import tool and imports them all to 2014. from then on you just use 2014 to play both (theres like 4 songs that don’t transfer though). its worth the ~10 dollar used cost of the rs1 game and the ~9 dollars to import them. gets you like 50 songs.

            1. Wow, just checked the list. I’ve been patiently waiting for some DLC on STP, more Stones, Velvet Revolver, and some Clapton. (never did learn the solo on Sunshine of Your Love)

Thank you all for the info. I’ll definitely pick this up.

                1. Darn, it would have to be those. The Clapton (and Cream) tracks were the highlight for me. Oh well, the rest of the content seems pretty good.

  14. These are the 3 songs that I’ve wanted from them since day one. *crosses fingers*

I have never hoped that your predictions are all correct so much! 😀

  15. Never really liked this band though I’m sure it will be a hit. I really like Tuesday’s Gone so hoping for that one

  16. “Lynyrd Skynyrd are certainly iconic, but we already have quite a bit of them in the game, and most of their hits.”

    1. I totally agree with this statement.. sure it turned out to be lynyrd skynyrd but it honestly didn’t seem very likely. I got all their songs in the game but the only other song i knew by them was tuesdays gone. I will probably pick up the pack, however, because these songs are great!

  17. I hope the pack is:
    Tuesday’s Gone
    Call Me the Breeze
    Saturday Night Special

    What my prediction is:
    Saturday Night Special
    What’s Your Name?
    Gimme Three Steps

  18. OMG!!! I’m very excited with this!!

    I hope:
    Call me the breeze
    Gimme three steps
    Tuesday’s gone
