Greetings Rocksmith fans!
It’s Friday again, so you all know exactly what that means. However, unlike most of Dan’s DLC clues, the answer to this one was decidedly vague as to what artists/songs it could be referring to:
A three-pack containing songs from different artists, the one thing linking all of them is that each has the word “Love” in the title. Well, that’s really specific, it’s not like there are thousands upon thousands of songs that could fit that description or anything…
Update:
So what could we expect next Tuesday? To give a basic idea, here are three semi-realistic picks from each of TRR’s editors. Bear in mind that some artists are highly unlikely to make it into the game at all, so be realistic with your predictions!
Daniel’s Picks:
The Who: Love Reign O’er Me
A frantic, folk-y acoustic guitar part, a nice lead guitar, and if you take the time to really listen, a varied Entwistle-y bass guitar line. Plus, it’s about time we got some more of The Who in the game anyway.
Aerosmith: Love in an Elevator
Come on, admit it, you all know you love this song. Plus, dat solo doe…
Stevie Ray Vaughan: Love Struck Baby
Or they’ll just hold this song for that long-awaited full DLC pack SRV deserves.
Oscar’s Picks:
Heart – All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You
Heart have a couple good songs in the Rocksmith platform already, but they’re one of the greatest female-led bands of all time, so the more the better in my opinion! This track has been one of my most requested songs in any rhythm game, so hopefully we finally see it!
The J. Geils Band – Love Stinks
How have we never gotten this classic before? Rock Band and Guitar Hero have both gotten Freeze Frame, and Rock Band also got Centerfold, but this song has never shown up in any game! I say the time to end that is now, because forget love, not having this song is what REALLY stinks!
Jefferson Airplane – Somebody to Love
Music from the 60s in general is woefully under-represented in games. Most of the time it’s due to a lack of master, but Rocksmith doesn’t have that issue. While this song has appeared in Rock Band, it’s never been playable on a real guitar! Jefferson Airplane are a legendary band that could easily fill up a 12 pack, but one song is better than nothing, and this would definitely be an absolute cracker to introduce them to the platform with!
Ted’s Picks:
Huey Lewis and the News – The Power of Love
Sure, we may be under-represented in music from the 60s but why are you overlooking the lacking and forgotten “Songs from Back to the Future” genre? My reasoning for this song, other than being a wicked awesome guitar song with a great solo, is that it was featured on disc for Rock Band 3 and was one of my most played Pro Guitar tracks. Maybe someone at Ubisoft knew this?
The Cure – Friday I’m In Love
I don’t care if Monday is blue really. Or if Tuesday’s grey (Wednesday too). Thursday is the day I don’t care about you lot cause Friday I’m waiting for Dan to hint that this chart-topping worldwide hit is finally going to be in the game. We definitely need an upbeat song to counteract all that blood rain and masks made of skin we had last week with Slayer.
The Ohio Players – Love Rollercoaster
Another alumni from the School of Rock Band 3 Pro Guitar Songs, this features an instantly recognisable riff that is played up and down the neck. Repetitive? Hell no, it’s funk!
Elliott’s Picks
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts “I Love Rock & Roll”
A long overdue penultimate female led rock anthem. Beginner friendly and iconic enough to even have the most jaded metal fans accept it’s inclusion. Previously included with Pro Guitar in Rock Band 3 if you are interested in what it might play like.
Pat Benatar “Love is a Battlefield”
“We are young, heartache to heartacheee” we already have Hit Me With Your Best Shot so we might as well add another Benatar track to the library. Round off the pack with Hell is For Children when the opportunity presents itself Ubi. Also the song has a great bass line and yes there is a bit of guitar happening in the mix.
Golden Earring “Radar Love”
Not the White Lion version sorry.
Did you know there are 90 songs in Rock Band alone that have “love” in the title?
What songs would you want in this lovely three pack? Let us know!
