Speculation: Rocksmith Newsletter hints at September DLC

Hello Rocksmith fans!

Looks like the newsletter has been mailed out which means we have a chance to predict what September has in store for us. Keep it down though, Green Day is trying to sleep…

“The perfect song to start the month”

Obviously it’s Earth Wind & Fire’s September

“Alt-rock from America’s heartland”

This could actually be a few things given what America’s Heartland actually means.

Because it’s in Rock Band

Because it’s in Guitar Hero Live

Probably not…

“A trip back to the 1960s”

It’s time for some crunchy tunes. let’s get some of The Grateful Dead in Rocksmith this month!

Please?

“and something truly new.”

Ok, I’m biased I admit. I really want this to happen…

Or it could be something totally different, @UbisoftStudioSF continues to say there’s nothing like Bachsmith in the works but they may have a surprise for us…

Of course as always, these are just predictions. What do you think @DanAmrich is really hinting at? Let us know!

  1. Alright so we’re at the last clue of the month now. “Something truly new.” Is this going to be a new artist, an old artist with new music in Billboard’s Top 10, or will we finally get that Jazz pack that many of us have been asking for? For some odd reason, I heard the J5’s “I Want You Back” again a few days ago and have since been captivated by that bassline. It would be nice if we got some old Motown DLC.

Has a new clue come out yet?

      1. Definitely not what I wanted, but in keeping with the “New” theme, it’s something new and interesting to check out.

      1. I hadn’t realized they had become short staffed. Makes more sense now. Yes as long as they continue releasing music i wont complain!

  2. Any chance that we’ll see any Tool,Counting crows,A Perfect Circle or Some Dokkan on rocksmith 2014 for Downloadable content any time soon.

  3. The Grateful Dead would be a fantastic addition. I’ve requested some.

Hopefully the new is from Gary Clark Jr’s upcoming album.

  4. Oklahoma’s not actually not really considered part of america’s heartland which is really confusing but i won’t complain about the all-american rejects. But it is really close to the mid-west.

  5. Something truly new–how about Camouflage by as Guitar World put it, “Eddie Van Halen on Cornbread”.

    Side note:
    Hhmmmmm cornbread
    or from the movie Life
“Are you gon eat all yo conbread?”

  6. If that’s true that’s kind of a bullshit clue then…Upper Midwest and Ohio Valley states is the Heartland, Oklahoma isn’t even considered Midwest by our own government.

  7. For myself there’s o my one band that you can use in the from the HEARTLAND…. John Cougar Mellon Camp… Scarecrow.. Small town and Jack and Diane for starters..,but will ubisoft have the balls to pull this one off??

    1. motley crue would be nice the rest i didnt know they ve had any kind of talent beside making noise , may be a harsh opinion but shes mine you can tell the same about some band i listen because we re diffenrent and have different taste 🙂

    1. i know what you feel still real challenge and no lead , playing with my penis is more entertaining … ( sarcasm…joke , but the worst of it , its because its true..!! ) we can have good guitar player out of metal , hair metal , power metal , rock , rock and roll , blues , jazz but when its fall out of metal its 90 % worth doggy poo that was left on the sidewalk for a 100 or 1000 years ago…no one ever listen i just play and then i go .. off into the sunset like the western heroes do , tell me what youre gonna do?

  8. Pardon my dumbness, but would Wilco fit into this America’s heartland alt-rock genre? If you guys are considering The Gaslight Anthem, I can’t see that as a big stretch either. (also, that wiki page mentioned Uncle Tupelo as a band influenced by this movement, so…)

Moreover (now pardoning my flawed English), at least to me the hint was about a band FROM America’s heartland (which points at something geographical), not about a band that actually belonged to the Heartland Rock genre/scene (would this be the intention, it would be more appropriate to just mention something like “American Heartland alt-rock”). That being said, I’d still need to learn what do you guys consider as “America’s Heartland”: Washington D.C. (being the Capital) or some geographically-centered town/state?

Cheers from Brazil, keep up the good work!

    1. could be, but I hope not. Recent music has become so blatantly bad and empty, especially for guitar players. Lars was right.

  9. In celebration of last week’s plate of funk, a quote from one of the masters

“For how else can you get to a boogie, if you don’t attack from the back?” — George Clinton

With that, I’ll start from the end–something truly new. Might we finally see some Jazz DLC? That would truly be a completely new addition. The other idea is maybe they mean something released within the past 10 years. Last idea, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag. (Just a thought)

A trip back to the 60s – Jefferson Airplane, Greatful Dead, more from the Stones. (Just guessing and using the word “trip” while thinking about bands known to spend a great deal of time on that sauce.

Alt-rock from America’s heartland = Everclear. (don’t know anything about them. Just throwing a name out there)

BTW – where are Green Day from? Was thing about when September ends.

      1. Darn that sucks. Not that they’re from LA but that they don’t fit this category.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.

  10. John cougar mellencamp epitomizes “Heartland” but I wouldnt consider him alt-rock. His “Authority Song” would be awesome,

  11. Yeah, Husker Du probably isn’t going to happen. But I would personally like a Bob Mould pack. Between Husker Du, Sugar and his solo work, there is just so much good music.

  12. Alt is such a broad genre im not even gonna guess.. well maybe some new alt like imagine dragons would be a good surprise!
Truly new? I’m struggling with this one
A trip to the 60’s: im with you on Casey Jones by the grateful dead. Any the grateful dead would be a appreciated!

  13. Id love it if gaslight anthem navesink banks was included if its them, im not sure what the odds are because i dont know if its a popular song , might to to much of a deep cut , like afi’s god called in sick today. I think grateful dead is a good guess , the word trip makes me be a lil more certain, but yeah it really could be anyone . Would not mind some brand new , hope thou its a random 5 pack of singles , maybe with one brand new track or titles with brand new themed.

  14. Elliott Smith was born in Omaha, so based on a technicality and my psychic powers, I guarantee we will get some Indie Rock this month.

    1. Funny and true, but id make the same guess maybe if it was not alternative rock themed, his music does sometimes have that American folk rock vibe sometimes, but yeah, that shit made me laugh

  15. the heartland alt-rock reference, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, that’s what heartland rock was.. so given that.. it’s maybe some kinda blue collar alt-rock or something.. I hope that it’s The Black Crowes, even though that doesn’t fit at all 😛

  16. Considering Industrial is most definitely a genre under the Alt-Rock umbrella, Nine Inch Nails is from Cleveland and wants to fuck Rocksmith like an animal….Make it happen Ubisoft…

  17. 1960’s: Yes pack? Could be considered. (Roundabout, I’ve seen all good people, Sweetness, Owner of a Lonely heart and Wonderous Stories)

Something truly new: Could it be like a new born? Paul did hint that more Muse would be coming sometime after Drones. (New Born, Citizen Erased, Map of the Problematique, Panic Station, Psycho)

Alt Rock from Heartland: Black Keys? We sure need more of them. (Howlin’ for you, Little Black Submarines, Thickfreakness, Your Touch,Just got to be)

And for the mystery pack, i’m just gonna guess The Mars Volta.

    1. Given that only one of your five Yes songs is from the sixties, three from the seventies and one from the eighties, that could be stretching the clue just a bit. But here’s hopin’…

        1. Perhaps, just putting it out there anyways :p i didnt know that one until i got rocksmith and its a favorite to play so didnt want OP to miss out

  18. I agree with Grumble Volcano, I would like to see more Black Keys. Maybe something from Turn Blue, there’s a lot of good choices in that album. I hope we get Grateful Dead, that would be good music to learn.

As for the something new, I would guess something brand new… The Brand New Heavies.

  19. OH FUCK HUSKER DU, Husker Du would be something we’d be hearing more about if it was happening, IE Bob and Grant making up and getting the Masters from Greg Ginn.

  20. If Grateful Dead, I hope it would include Ripple and Box of Rain. That reminds me that I should request those songs.
