  1. I agree with whoever said it. How long til we can note ducking technology? That the next step up! Great pack only missing duck feature

    1. Since they recorded the songs themselves, surely they could have just released an alternate version of each, minus the part being played?

        1. I don’t see the need for ‘note ducking’, if you play it right you won’t notice anyway, surely? Or am I misunderstanding what it actually is?

  2. Best DLC of Rocksmith in 2014? Doubt that. Personally I would choose Billy Talent, System of a Down or Rise Against as they all have helped me improve albeit in different ways. Define best, you come up with varying answers.

Best implementation of an idea into a music game in 2014? 100%. Even tho I enjoyed this month`s Biffy Clyro`s Lead charts more than this, I will still vote for Bachsmith in this month`s DLC roundup, as it is so unique that it needs to get credit where it is due. Big fucking props to the developers.

  3. Played through them all on bass. Quite fun! Die Valkure is a bit over my skill, but I’ll dial it back a bit to work on it. Moonlight Sonata is gorgeous. A nice fall back after a rough go at the previously mentioned composition.

    Excellent DLC, for sure.

And yes, Duran Duran pack has lost no luster! 😀

  4. yeah, Bachsmith finally arrived on PSN EU, and you know the good surprise? it costs 11,99 euros, it does 15,80 USD… 🙁 👿 ❗ 😥

who do i have to thanks?
    i’m so disappointed…

  5. After buying them and playing them… They’re just not that fun. But hopefully, this opens the door to other stuff, like Jazzsmith or Bachatasmith.

  6. Thank you Rocksmith for a most excellent morning! You have succeeded in challenging me thoroughly, and I hope that there are many more songs of this ilk to come in the future.

  7. This is the best dlc in recent memory. This dlc pack also gives me hope for tv/video game music – legend of Zelda, super mario, metroid music anyone?

    1. Yeah Mario world in particular has a song I really want to play but I have a feeling cross game licencing will be a challenge. I do I hope I am wrong though.
Also anything by the Black Mages would be EPIC!

  8. A) I hope we never, never get the Bloodhound Gang. This is not due to classical music being introduced, but people having any semblance of taste in music whatsoever.

    B) This DLC is epic! I tried everything on bass and was able to get up to 70% or above on every song so far. I am kind of afraid to try the guitar parts though…they sound wicked hard!

    C) I had never played bass before and bought one to learn with Rocksmith. I have played guitar for years, both acoustic and electric, and I was dubious at how well it could teach me techniques. My qualms have all been allayed as my improvement continues in the game. As of today, I started learning how to do slapping/popping, and after struggling until my fingers hurt and then some, I managed to get up to about 90% mastery on “My Iron Lung” by Radiohead! I don’t know how many people connected to the developers read these posts, but I want to say thank you. This is the reason I continue to spend (way too much) money on this game! 😀

  9. this is great but now game is too high brow and means we will never get bloodhound gang music. I cant see ballad of chasey lain next to beethoven

  10. This reminds of that cool xmas pack they came out with for the original Rocksmith. Except that was free.

Too bad there is no option of “ducking” the notes.

  11. I just finished my first playthrough on every song, guitar/bass and all i can say is, this dlc is fucking amazing.

Every arrangement is nice and unique.
There’s definitely something for everyone in this pack.

Also i saw some people doubted this would work on bass.
The bass arrangements are some of the best in the whole game in my opinion, especially moonlight sonata is wonderful.

    1. I agree.
The Bass is definitely challenging to play on many of the arrangements.
It’s also good finger exercises/learning too.

“Moonlight Sonata” is my favorite right now on Bass. Bass chords!
Love “Rondo Alla Turca” for the whole Chet Atkins “vibe”.

Thank you, Ubi! Please do another one of these SOON!!!

  12. (Xbox 360/ Lead)
Only played for a few months now, but Rocksmith has completely changed my lifestyle. In the 25% to 50% mastery on most songs after 4 months is amazing. I purchased this DLC and watched it DL add I drank my first cup of coffee. Skipped breakfast, shower, and lunch. These songs are amazing. Very refreshing! Ubi team outdid themselves this time. (Not so happy with the arrangement for “Flight of the Valkeries”) My 5 year old son instantly recognized all of the sons from various cartoons and is rocking his little heart out to the classics with his 1/2 size Emerson and my spare cable. Thank Ubisoft for another Father/Son morning that couldn’t be beat!

  13. i was worried rocksmith was running out of ideas for dlc, but apparently they do. and if they keep up on the weekly dlc and we should expect scorpions, motley crue , possibly black sabbath, and yes maybe even sublime

  14. Fun! The guitar is certainly above my skill level, but it will make for great material to practice to improve my chops.

Quite interested to see the bass arrangements!

    1. Seeing this just makes me think, “Why not make this a regular thing?” I can think of at least 100 classical songs I want to learn.

      1. PSN might update the storefront between 6–8 PM EST, but Bachsmith is already available in Rocksmith 2014’s store. DLC has been available “early” right through Rocksmith 2014 since it launched.

  15. Blurred out Ibanez!

This is going to be so much fun, also 5 string bass? (I’m not a proponent of HEY WHY CAN’T WE HAVE 7/8/9 strings.)

    1. Ha yeah i spotted that too

I doubt the arrangement will be for 5 strings though…

What’s Alt. Bass then? Two arrangements?

      1. Honestly, it was “do we have the legal right to show this? No? Do you think someone will get upset and sue us? Maybe? Better to blur.” Gibson and Marshall, we know are cool with us showing their gear, because we have paperwork that says they are. Everybody else — including soft drink logos, computers, whatever — we went the safe legal route. Please don’t take it as an editorial comment.

  16. 5 for the price of 1 2/3 of beautiful shredding music! This is gonna be fun! I was already considering getting this at full price, but since it’s only 5 bucks, this is automatic.

  17. Without even playing it or hearing it the full way through, dare I say “Best DLC of 2014 So Far?”

Thank you for only charging $5. I will happily pay for this and continue to support you in the great work that you guys do!

  18. This really is fantastic. I don’t care what genre THE developers choose as long at it makes me a better musician. I grew up on classical and jazz before all else.

  19. For several reasons, I can’t say I’m totally excited for that DLC..
first, I guess I’m more a hardcore noisy punk fan than a metalhead, so I’m not too much into epic melodies..
second, it will be seriously above my skills, so I could maybe get through some of the riffs but I can’t imagine to play those songs entirely..
and last, maybe i would have prefer some known band arrangements.. RS team seems to have done a pretty good job on those songs, but I have to listen to them entirely before making a opinion..

BUT, as we get DLC every weeks, I may buy this DLC anyway, cause I like my RS to have different styles, cause it’s not too expensive, and cause we finally get some gipsy jazz with that version of rondo alla turca..
so, all in all, this week DLc is a good news.. 🙂

  20. This looks all very exciting. Can’t wait. Mountain King is going to kill.

Many thanks to the Ubi/Rocksmith devs & artists who are still cranking out new DLC every week.

This game has amassed such a large library of content, there is something out there for every musical taste. Now even the classical orchestra geeks are covered.

I hope that the continued success of Rocksmith brings some of the holdout bands that have refused to licence content to the table.

    1. I would imagine “classical orchestra geeks” would be the type of people to scoff at this interpretation of their revered compositions. It’s like saying a rap-infused version of Stairway to Heaven would appease Zeppelin fans– nonsensical.

I can’t wait to try these out though. I really need to grab another cable so my friends can jam out along side me.

      1. Not so sure. I think that probably people that appreciate classical music have a fairly open mind when it comes to music as a whole.

I mean there are always the hardcore that only listen to one style. The difference though with people that play and listen to it is that classical music was never the music they grew up listening to. It was never the music that was on the radio when they were growing up. Unless they are Connor McCleod…

You tend to get a fairly robust education growing up playing a classical instrument. It’s not all Mozart and Bach. Most music schools require a broad education which excludes no musical influences.

I’ve been playing violin for 35 years and I would say I like any style of music if it is played well, and with soul.

  21. I am stoked on this!!! Although Moonlight Sonata looks like a doddle on bass compared to the one I recorded and posted this last week on the ubisoft forum, I’m still going to have a lot of fun with this pack. 🙂

  22. Just finished watching the videos. I was actually worried what would happen if they did it themselves, but holy hell was I proved wrong! With the different variety of genres all packed into one pack, I’d probably go as far to say this pack is a must-have.
I was afraid they’d cut out movements two and three of Moonlight Sonata, but I don’t feel like I’m at a loss with what was presented. Can’t wait for this release!

PS – They technically used a classical instrument: the double bass in “Little” Fugue!

      1. i saw that already 😆 i was hoping for a date to hold on to 😥 but great dlc though, i will buy it 😆
