Speculation: Skillet awakens Rocksmith 2014

Hello Rocksmith fans!

It was a difficult solve but we now know what to expect next week on Rocksmith 2014!

Let’s take a look at this week’s screenshot clue c/o @DanAmrich.

This was a hard one because most transcriptions are in Drop C online, however as usual RollingStone222 was on top of the situation.

Which means that we are getting…

Yup, it’s a three pack from @Skilletmusic including Awake and Alive.

Check out 2:41 for the clue #tappatappa

Skillet is definitely a highly requested band. Personally I see them requested quite often on both twitter and facebook and it doesn’t hurt that yes, they are a Christian rock/nu-metal band. Surprisingly next week Rocksmith 2014 will have the most Skillet songs out of all major music games as Rock Band only has their popular single Monster as Rock Band 3 DLC.

What songs could be included in the DLC pack?

Hero has 74 million views on YouTube…

There’s no way Monster won’t be in the pack right?

Pictured here are the Top 10 most listened to songs on @Spotify US, Which song do you most expect to be included in the Skillet Song Pack?

Are you excited for Skillet’s debut in Rocksmith 2014? Are you happy to see some Christian Rock represented in the game? Or is this just another Three Days Grace to you? Let us know!

  1. Yeah and I won’t call you stupid Wisenheimer. I suppose you can call studies science…but I think of science as modern scientific method and it was a dumb comment by me. I know that science comes from all over, but there is PLENTY of science that changed the world done by christians. I just really felt like Satan was obnoxious to my religion and I do think it is a narrow view to take just hating on people for their faith, especially those who can’t hate back.

    1. Now there’s a comment I can agree with. I don’t understand all the negativity focused on the fact that a band might be considered Christian rock. If a song is good I really don’t care what inspired it. I’ll listen to it, play it and probably like it. I love playing “Jesus freak” on rock band (and I’m an atheist, lol).

    1. I’m sorry that i didn’t specify a reason (as if there were only one) but I thought it was common knowledge that mankind’s study of many scientific fields predates Christianity. Anyway who cares, let’s get back to rock talk. xD

  2. Noone gonna challenge my Aristotle was a Christian claim? ( Greek philosopher before Christ ) but MOST science funded by the church. Hospitals were an invention of the church. Anyway who cares…I hope the music is good.

  3. Ahem…Christians invented both science and Rock and Roll. Elvis was a Gospel singer. Darwin was not the inventor of science and did nothing scientific honestly, except observe. See Aristotle, Copernicus, and Tycho Brahe. You are funny how you rewrite history all the time but you are weak. The truth is powerful.

    1. Please tell me that you didn’t just really say that Christians invented science. That just took the #1 spot on my “top ten stupidest comments of the year” list, lol.

  4. I don’t care that it’s a Christian rock band, I just don’t like what is to me, very generic sounding rock music. Too hard to be pop, not hard enough to be metal, I don’t know. I’m not judging it, it’s just not for me. I realised last night there were several packs I still haven’t got round to buying that I meant to (REM, Muse, Radiohead, Kiss 2, Aerosmith), so I have plenty to keep me happy for a good while.

  5. I’m not religious. I don’t believe in god but I’m still getting this pack. They’re slightly better than breaking Benjamin and the guitarist is smoking hot!!

  6. Wow from The Black Keys to this??…will not be purchasing this pack…. Looks like about 20% of u will and that is just good enough for Ubisoft to keep putting these worthless dlc’s out!

    1. You still keep posting these useless comments, even though under 20% of this site’s users give a shit, but that’s good enough for you, to keep putting these worthless comments out!

  7. Okay so first it was the devil’s music. Now, the devil seems to be so infused in so many things going on in the world today, it’s like being Christian has reached the level of spookiness that not being Christian once held.

It amazes me how many people have to highlight “Christian” music. You have to emphasize that label so as to be sure you know what to shy away from. Y’all seem to be so scared that you might slip up and accidentally become Christian. THIS IS MUSIC. Grow some nuts. If you don’t like the music, fine. I’m not at all interested in this band either. And like many of you all, I too am disappointed with some of the DLC recently. It’s not the end of the world. The fact is, you being scared of accidentally becoming Christian due to this music does not justify trying to get everyone on board with your hatred of something that you think you understand.

Were you waiving the flag when music of a somewhat devilish nature showed up on Rocksmith? NO. Ooooooh, but now that the DLC goes possibly in a Christian direction, now you’ve got to stand up and wave the satan flag. Get off that. Again, THIS IS MUSIC BITCHES. If you don’t like it, stick a thumb in your but and shut the hell up. Just like Vanilla Ice, Limp Bizkit, and Puff Daddy, somebody requested the mess, meaning someone out there likes it. Let them be happy to have finally have their moment in the sun.

In addition, Ubisoft is but one company releasing Rocksmith content. There are a lot of musical elements out there. This year Ubisoft actually did a good job of trying to touch on quite a few of those areas, from classical, to country, blues, ska, funk, pop, and now, if you want to call it that I guess Christian. Most of the bands/artists you all like are actually into various styles of music. If you aren’t the same then maybe this hobby is not for you.

    1. Trying to be Jessy Pinkman dosent help your argument here, even if skillet were Jedi they would still suck & I doubt that any of there music would contribute to anyone’s choice of religion if anything put you off being Christian for eternity.

  8. I thought the rest of the year was supposed to be pleasing and surprising to us? I am surprised at how disappointed I am with this one. While Creed was not a “christian Rock” band, that could be misinterpreted as true based on Scott’s decisions to leave the band to become a Christian Musician. This is a Christian Rock (Ironic) band. Typical Christianity – first Rock was the music of the devil – then they learnt the hard way that you can’t kill rock and roll – so co-opt it and call it christian. Their strategy for anything new or different for the last couple of millennia has been kill it, if you can’t, claim it as christian and turn it into a recruitment tool. Christmas, Easter and Now Rock. BLS, Black Sabbath, the Doobie Brothers and Tool all have songs About Jesus, That doesn’t make them Christian Rock. BUt a lot of christian rock is trite, and canned sounding. Rock is Rock, Trying to force it to be christian is when the product becomes Pop and not rock.

  9. I would love believe to make it into the pack, or comatose.. I’m sure whatever they put I’ll like though. I’m not religious, just like good hard rock music! Funny people call a guitar oriented genre band with 70+ million views on their videos a “budget band,” obviously people are requesting them, suck it up ladies.

  10. Wait, so there’s a Christian nu-metal band named after a frying pan, and one of their songs has 74 million views on YouTube? Amazing sometimes, things about the world that I didn’t know I didn’t know. Seriously though, some decent riffs here, but the whole Christian rock thing is just a huge turn-off for me. I just can’t tolerate being preached to by Christians, no matter what form that takes.

  11. Why all the ragein the comments section? I never expected one of my fave bands to get in here, and they have some wonderful guitar lines. If it’s not your style, I’m sure we’ll get some crazy awesome surprise around Christmas, but this and Bachsmith just made my year

  12. Quote “Christians losing their ability to discern the difference between good and evil? The fact that this demonic music even made it into the church is proof of the moral and spiritual decline affecting the church today. We are being invaded by hard rock, acid rock, punk rock, new wave, and heavy metal music under the guise of religious rock and roll.” I think that basically says even christians think its crap – The Devil is the man when it comes to rock music lets keep it that way. Dear santa please can I have a Cult dlc for my christmas – thanks.

    1. When you quote something, you write the source of the quote, not just quote as that is implied by the quotations.

  13. Definitely a disappointing pack in my opinion but I’ll buy it just to have something new to play. Hey, how about….. more rush, some yes, anybody heard of the rolling stones? Maybe some greatful dead? Please????

    1. Being disappointed every time your very specific wishlist isn’t on the table, is not at good way to go about not being disappointed weekly

      1. Hmmm… I liked the hit singles Il pack, the bachsmith II pack, rancid (after I tried it), one of the black keys songs and i like about half of the dlc that is put out overall to one degree or another (even though I buy about 75% of it, u get better by trying new stuff) Earth, wind and fire was awesome… need more funk!

    2. I feel like if we could get one more Rush four pack with The Trees, Closer To The Heart, Fly By Night, and 2112 Overture, that would be prefect.

      1. I’ve put in requests for the first three you listed and would love 2112 too. Working man would also be welcome :). I owe a thank you to whoever clued me in on requesting the desktop site to request songs (think it was Elliott or Dan A.).

  14. Hard pass for me on this. Christian rock is a genre I have absolutely no interest in, and nu-metal is another. Congrats to those who are into it, I’ll be turning the other cheek.

  15. The ONLY reason these people even make ANY money off this garbage is not because the majority has appalling taste in music, but ALSO because since this shit is about kissing the bearded man’s ass, that automatically labels it good ??? Garbage.

    1. This comment is a bunch of garbage if I may say so. And I feel that the people who like this comment has an APPALLING taste in comments

      1. Sorry but in order for you to insult me firstly I would need to value your opinion. It might have had 0.01% value but then I noticed you used the word ‘darn’ in a comment – AAHAHAAHA seriously do people realy speak like that ahhhh funny. God bless & all that

  16. All these years I’ve been hearing their songs on the radio and I never knew they were a Christian band. Surprising, but I can see it. I’m usually up for the hard rock packs, but Skillet kind of sucks. I think the singer has a really annoying voice and that the instruments are nothing special. I’ll pass.

  17. One of my sons favorite bands. I like them also. Will definitely pick this one up. Hopefully we will get more Christian rock in the future. The more genres and bands the better. Keep up with the variety Rocksmith

  18. oh no, they ring my door bell sunday morning, they give the girly pamphlets at the hair dresser, and now their invading my play time…ahhhhhhhhhh…..

Just kidding, The Awake and alive song is catchy. I’ll wait for the charts as well.

Enjoy skillet fans, get your blessed rock on 😉

  19. Pass, I’ve never heard of this band and after listening to them I didnt care much for them. I wonder how many more dlc packs we have left for the year after this one comes out. Is it 2 or 3 ?

  20. There’s always a year or three backlog of DLC for times like this.

I couldn’t stand this band in Rock Band, I remember cringing everytime I went over them in the store front.

According to my sister, the only people who like Skillet are Geography teachers, and they fucking love the band.

  21. I like Dan’s at ubisoft sentiment like you are getting a 3 pack of this stuff and a lot of you 12 year olds requested this but I actually know what good music is. At least that’s how I took that

    1. I don’t believe in good or bad music, just music that does or does not inspire you.

So, if you took it some other way, you have misinterpreted it. Secretly suggesting that one person’s taste is superior is never how I have meant any statement.

    2. I think Dan was saying more to the line that this week should prove quite polarizing, not that he himself considered the pack good or bad.

      1. Nope, not just because I don’t like them, though they do suck. But I get it, you probably listen to them in your church youth group and you’re a little butt hurt from my comment. Go pray about it.

        1. An extremely popular band, with a huge fanbase, that gets requested every darn week on Facebook… Pretty sure they’re not a “budget band”

The know-nothingness is strong with this one

    1. I am not sure why so many people seem unwilling or unable to accept it, but there are many bands out there that get a lot of requests but are not part of your experience. This does not make them budget bands, this just makes them something that does not appeal to you. That needs to be accepted, as it’s not going to change — ever. There will always be more music than you appreciate.

      1. I personally don’t care what you put out but what you don’t put out. When you put out shit and little to no good stuff then I don’t have anything to play. Now that is a proper reason to hate all this music.

        1. It’s possible, but unlikely based on the data. We look at requests and try to fill as many as possible; the trials and tribulations of licensing are pretty well documented at this point, but the request app does guide our actions as much as possible. We also look at what tracks make a profit to let us sustain our business.

We also look at the requests in relation to the profit, and we have seen some pretty surprising correlations there — heavily requested bands that our most dedicated players champion sometimes lead to stunningly low sales. That makes it hard to make those very vocal players happy when what they asked for does not sell well enough to justify its own existence.

But you are right — we could be doing a terrible job, and all these numbers could be trumped by one sarcastic comment on the internet. Research continues.

          1. You really can’t use your numbers in this debate. I’ve mentioned several times how I’d love to see the download numbers for some of these bands and you consistently say that it wouldn’t be in the bands best interests to do so, or just good business.

The licensing deal was much easier to accept until other rythem games came back on the market and started pulling some pretty decent bands. What do they have that you don’t?

You guys ignore any real game updates other than bug fixes, the bands closing off the year have been pretty pathetic. The amount of wasted opportunity on this game is insane to me.

  22. Yeah, no. Not a big hard rock fan. Pass.

But hey, it’s december! And in every december there’s always a great pack to round up the year! So what do you think could await us that isn’t impossible (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.)

  23. Circus For A Psycho has a pretty sweet riff throughout. Hopefully that one hasn’t gone under Ubisoft’s radar…

        1. Nope. Rock Band and Rocksmith aren’t in any more competition than the Mets are with the Knicks — “but both teams score points with a ball!” Each of us want the same thing — DLC that people find interesting — but to suggest that one franchise wins and another loses if it does not match your specific personal taste is silly. That’s the nicest way I can think of to put it, anyway.

        2. I’m happy if both developers just try to one up themselves instead of each other. RS2014 is superior to the first RS game. So far Rb4 can’t say the same about RB3 no matter what dlc they get.

  24. Never heard of them, but I certainly don’t mind getting some christian music. I like it just fine. How is 3 days grace christian music though? My church only does Hymns so I dunno.

      1. I never understood how skillet was christian rock, they sound like generic nu-metal to me. Then again, some people thought creed was christian rock back in the day, mostly due to “higher”.

        1. Yeah, they’re definitely Christian rock. They piped up about Jesus and stuff during the last gig I saw them at. Was a little cringe-worthy at the time…
