  1. Steam have updated their deals. For the next 24 hours Rocksmith is 75% off, Rocksmith 2014 is 66% off, and most DLC is now 50% off!!

Also note that a lot of the song packs are still at 25% off, so it’s actually cheaper to buy the individual songs separately at 50% off, than the song packs themselves.

Now’s the time to buy that DLC you’ve been waiting on!

  2. consoles are sold cheap. on consoles the games are making the money. it reminds me of printers for the pc. the printing-cardridges are expansive as well, after you are getting the hardware for almost no money at all. i guess, they simply have you on the hook, as printer- or as a console-owner, once you bought the cheap equipment: because otherwise you can hardly use it. I prefer buying good gaming-PCs for several reasons. and so I get wonderful discounts on aaa-games via steam or shops just a few weeks or months after release. I guess, in average, I pay less than 8 bucks for aaa-games, if I pick them up one year after release. often even less. this will never ever happen on consoles, right? but that´s not a big secret, or? everyone buying a console should know that kind of stuff. so I´m not astounded, that rocksmith is not offering console dicounts, as long as the console-competitioners don´t offer them as well. why should they? On the other side, rocksmith is relatively high priced on steam, compared to other gaming-titles. So if they less frequently give less intense discounts, then of course will the choosy pc-players only buy their most favoured songs. for 50% discount I would buy many more, for 75% even the most available ones. So 25% will let me hardly buy any songs at all – especially when the newer ones are excluded. but hey – thats their decision. They have to calculate, which strategy seems best for them on console and on pc. And they are certainly clever enough, for choosing different approaches on these two hardware-segments. but Dan Amrichs comment (“No worries. It’ll be back up to normal price next week.”) was of course not necessary at all. but again: that´s also his choice … if thinks, that´s helpful …

    1. as I promised: steam-discount increased up to 50% for 24 hours a few hours ago. and i bought 11 songs instead of zero. seems fair to me. for both sides: the developers and me.

      1. Ditto. 33 songs and $50 worth of DLC purchased by me also :grinning:

Even went back and grabbed a couple of original DLC tracks for good measure.

Many thanks to Rocksmith/Ubi for organising the extra discount in the flash sale.

  3. 25% is certainly not enough to motivate me to buy anything I may have been on the fence about, so it’s a complete non-issue for me. Yeah, I remember the days of 50% DLC sales…

  4. I’m not getting any of the PC DLC. I recently downloaded the Steam version. My 360 game randomly crashes when online so I had to play offline. I still got loads of the DLC for the xbox. Got sick of not seeing my scores on the leader boards so decided to get a PC copy. I wish I got the Steam version in the first place.

  5. I agree with the comments regarding dlc discounts on gaming consoles. It seems like pc/mac gets all the goods, while us console owners get no type of discounts. We play the game and dump money into dlc as well, so why cant we get a dlc sale alongside steam users?

    1. This is MS and Sony. They don’t do sales on their platforms, certainly no where near like Valve does basically every week.

  6. I thought long and hard about if I should post this comment. It is likely to attract a lot of flack, however I feel I needed to say it, so here it is;

Don’t know if its just me but I’m not that excited about 25% off DLC. That’s the same discount as the Steam Summer sale. Being a filthy cheapskate, I waited the entire sale for a 50% off “Flash Sale” that never eventuated.

Right now here in OZ we are currently paying 15% more because of the exchange rate. Not that that is in any way Rocksmith’s fault, but it does effect the way I think about buying items in US currency.

It’s already DLC I put in the “Not good enough to pay full price ‘wishlist'”. For me anyway, it would take more than 25% to encourage me to buy the 15 or so packs and singles in there that I already don’t mind not owning.

Am I looking a gift horse in the mouth? Sure. Am I complaining about a piddling amount of difference in actual dollars? Sure. Is any discount better than what the console guys get? Undoubtedly. Will I be buying content because of the sale? No.

And this I guess is my point. It’s not that I feel entitled to a bigger discount, or that Ubi/RS aren’t being generous (they are and thank you) but that its not enough of one to get me to buy tracks that I’m already on the fence about.

    1. It is quite a good discount in my opinion, but I agree with a lot of what you’ve pointed out. With 50% off (which I was hoping to see as Black Friday hits) I’d surely buy a lot.
Anyway, you think the exchange rate with dollars is off-putting. I hate the idea that every pack which is e.g. $11.99 in the US, in Europe stays 11.99 but in euros. Which for me means I have to pay over $3 for the same stuff just for living in Europe (due to exchange rate). 🙂

      1. You don’t get it. People with not much cash were hoping for bigger discounts. You know, waiting several months to buy some great stuff, and knowing you’ll buy less than you were hoping for is a bit disappointing. It’s not that people won’t buy anything, they’ll just buy less, sniff at it a little. So your snarky remark is kind of mean instead of amusing.

  7. Oh too bab !
I’m still waiting for a disc import tool discount :(. There’s still hope for the Christmas sale ;).
But it’s nice to see some discount on DLCs.

    1. The Steam Holiday sale will start in a couple of weeks (usually) and the deals are generally the same as this one if last year is anything to go by
