Ubisoft Reveals Top 40 Requested Artists

A constant request on the Rocksmith facebook page and everywhere else you can think of, is for Ubisoft to reveal the top requested songs/artists/genres. While I’m not sure what the point of that is because MUSIC LICENSING, people asked for it and today they delivered.

Along with this pretty infographic they also released a lengthy FAQ explaining pretty much everything they can tell you about Song Selection!

Nothing left to do but start…

  1. The Headstones .. “Tweeter and the Monkey man”, ” Unsound”, “Cubically contained”, ” Blonde and blue”, “its all over”, ” Settle”, “Smile and wave”, ” When something stands for nothing”

  2. Would be awesome to see you guys do a covers set. Pack 1 could be 5 tracks by the original artists, Pack 2 could be the Contemporary cover tracks. See what sells better. My money would be on both packs of course.

  3. Still wondering about the fogey rock. The old guys have the money to pay for the DLC. Give us BTO, Steve Miller Band, Jim Croche, Cat Stevens, Moody Blues, Jefferson anything, Journey. And while on the subject how about some more from the 50s good motown, and of course CHUCK MF’N BERRY!

  4. I would love to see, Moody Blues, CCR, Prince and the Revolution, Meatloaf, of course Metallica.

436 Rocksmith songs available? Not on my console are they mostly PC only?

    1. Rocksmith 1 = 52 exportable songs
      Rocksmith 2014 = 66 Songs
RS1 DLC – 143 (minus the 3 Xmas DLCs you can’t get anymore)
      RS2014 DLC – 172 songs

      Total: 430 Songs

  5. So Led and Pink were requested. That will never happen due that Led says no to such things per se and Pink songs would be more the albums which were concepted as one big experience and not just a song. Maybe Vai and Gilbert would be good but also VERY VERY complicated to play.

  6. It would be great if the bands who are listed in the Top 40, but fall into the 4th category of "Simple Not Interested" could be marked as such… it could alleviate false hopes on our end and we could focus on requesting songs from artists who are willing to participate.

  7. I’m surprised that there is no Dire Staits, that guy plays like a Carvin now, only the desperate are endorsed by carvin.

  8. Where’s mike? Hundreds if not thousands of song requests had to occur to make this thread possible and we don’t get to hear mike’s unique take on the situation. I’m bummed.

  9. Looks like most requests are for bands from the Classic Rock genre. This begs the question: why is most DLC something else?

    1. Looks like 19 of the highest requested bands are in Rocksmith, which begs the question why do people think they aren’t giving the community what it wants 😉

  10. I think that these bands have made lots of money, and as Chris Prajzner says, maybe their management are saying no… For sure bands can make more money granting permision to be in Rocksmith and it'll be a great honor to have millions of people learning and playing their songs… Well, that's my opinion…

  11. So… the 50 year old guys from my tiny small town's local bar are the ones requesting DLC apparently… I'm still holding out for more punk/pop punk/ skate punk… to buy Rocksmith. The Clash pack was exciting, but I'd love to at least see a mixed bundle with big hits like MC5s Kick out the Jams & Dead Boys' Sonic Reducer. Maybe some Joan Jett.
But way less mullet rock please…

  12. Are the actual artists saying no? Or is it their management? And do they really know what they are saying no to?

This is not a game… ITS A WAY OF LIFE. Why listen to the music when with Rocksmith you can LIVE the music.

Money aside, saying "Yes" seems like a no brainer.

PS: How does The Cult not make the top 40? A 5 song Cult pack would sell out!

  13. also I would love to know who the @sshat who requested the same song 403 times is, and what song it was!!! 😀

  14. And to think… I was losing hope in the world’s taste in music. It’s really cool how many of these they already have up, and it would be great to see them double dip from a couple. The lack of any Clapton really surprises me though, I would’ve thought that Layla, Sunshine, and Crossroads would be some of the highest requested songs. In fact, I don’t think I’ve requested them yet, off to the app I go!

    1. I agree – so people won’t waste their time on requests that are completely futile. That would also include Led Zeppelin and Beatles. Concentrate on bands/songs that actually have a chance.

I would liked to have seen the list ranked by # of requests as opposed to alphabetically.

        1. I wish the developers would tell us who we will NEVER see in rocksmith. I want closure, as long as there is a snowball’s chance for tool and the beatles, It will forever consume my thoughts.

  15. Seth Le Septième At least I want the Animals or Resistance song, it just nice and the other is really tricky for what i saw on youtube 🙂 but in anyway your right, in that case I want (at least) the Arctic Monkeys or Let Her Go from Passenger

  16. I’m all for more blues guitar. I would pay for SRV, Pink Floyd, more Clapton, etc. I do love the metal but my hands fail me therefore I won’t request it.

I very much appreciate the variety and I have bought most of the packs. THANK YOU ROCKSMITH.

  17. What do you want from Muse ? We already have the bests songs to play (Unnatural Selection and Knights Of Cydonia) ! The only song I would like is Survival, I have to admit it it's fantastic to play…

  18. I’m surprised there aren’t much instrumental artist up there like Eric Johnson, Steve vai, satriani etc but lots of metal which is cool

    1. I think that it has more to do with a mainstream audience. Instrumental artist just aren’t hugely popular. The fact that they had one Satch song on 2014 gave me hope that we’d get more instrumental guitarist included. Or at the very least more Satch, and maybe Vai.

  19. funwithsongrequests time!
the Sultans of swing belive that Fairies wear boots and give a Whole lotta love and Money but No one knows if the Master of puppets was Foolin’ you to Shout at the devil in the Purple haze so Mr.crowley can give yo a Welcome to the jungle

  20. We already have half of the 40 artists so that means we have arrived. If we see another 10 or more from that list I’ll be surprised

  21. Yes please to almost all of those… Some melodic Gary Moore blues would be tasty, but wailing on some Gilmour lead would be my idea of perfection!

    1. All those are great choices. Good job everyone. You know what else is great? No White Stripes on the list.

  22. I’m surprised Dire Straits, Bullet For My Valentine, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Scorpions and Stevie Ray Vaughn are so hard to acquire.

    1. I agree, especially on Nirvana. My assumption is that Courtney Love would license the entire catalog for a toilet paper commercial if someone waved enough money at her… or maybe even a couple packs of smokes.
