This week Rocksmith is bringing us back to simpler time. It looks like my foot is in my mouth about the return to band centric packs, but regardless I am excited at the prospect of learning some Motown hits!
Onto the hints!
Wikipedia shows that Steve Cropper became the A&R Man of Stax Records and as a house guitarist played on Otis Redding’s (Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Steve Cropper’s guitar work in Rocksmith though. He also played on the Blues Brother’s version of Soul Man. You can hear Belushi say “Play it, Steve” on the track!
This was an easy one. Pick up your guitar and play the riff and you just know it’s My Girl by The Temptations. Plus if you look here you’ll see a familiar name!
Check back here tomorrow to find out the final song to be revealed. I’m speculating it’s this.
UPDATE:
Wow… Can you get anymore non-specific than this? Well @ElisaRockDoc somehow nailed it:
Then a retweet from @naohigo pretty much solidified that it is indeed, Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On.
If you’re scratching your head over this pick for Rocksmith just remember, Bass Content in September.
Looking forward to "What's Going On" on bass.
I'll play my girl in a lamb of god kind of way
AWESOME. WEEN.
Well, I have to admit that Otis Redding was one talented dude. Maybe this will be a refreshing change in the direction of the game.
After checking out the tab for lead guitar part of "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" I think people may be surprised 🙂
I'm curious, what direction change are you hoping for?
Stoked to learn some Motown. Might help me get lucky with the wife
