Greetings Rocksmith Ghouls and Ghosts!
This week’s Spoooooky DLC contains two new additions to Rocksmith 2014 and two singles from previous artists! Let’s take a look at what we’re getting in advance of the spookiest night of the year!
We start off with those scary, evil Canadians and their band Billy Talent! They bring, from 2009’s Billy Talent III, the song Devil on My Shoulder (not to be confused with the similarly titled Devil in a Midnight Mass, which was released as part of the first Billy Talent pack)! Plus, this is as close as we’re probably going to get to Led Zeppelin.
Now we head south towards Los Angeles and meet up with Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo. As New Wave is a criminally under-represented genre in Rocksmith, it’s always great to see more of it come to the game. This week it comes to us in the form of the title track from their 1985 album, it’s Dead Man’s Party!
Next, we go across the Atlantic where we meet the ULTIMATE metal band! Yes, Motörhead return to Rocksmith. The NWOBHM legends first appeared in the Classic Riff Singles week with the legendary track Ace of Spades. This week, the equally amazing Killed by Death joins the lineup. While it originally appeared on 1984’s No Remorse, it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that we could be receiving the 2008 re-record that was done for Rock Band given that’s what we got for Ace of Spades.
We stay in Europe for our final artist, moving East as we go to The Netherlands. It’s not quite making it’s rhythm game debut, but the original, 6 minute masterpiece is! It’s one of the most requested songs in rhythm game history! It’s guaranteed to be a workout for all your fingers! It’s the first yodelling song in the game! From 1971’s Moving Waves it’s none other than Hocus Pocus by Focus!

So tell us, are you filling your bag with these treats, or are you leaving the lights off and pretending you’re not home? Let us know in the comments!

Happy April Fool’s Day Everybody! Your real Halloween stuff will be released later…or not. Does Lemme’s voice sound like a biological impossibility to anyone else? I always worry about that guy.
how the fuck
those solos in Hocus Pocus
what is coordination, how do hands do that
Folks who have been asking for a challenge have one this week.
You’re right there, I tried to sit through a listening of each of these songs, a challenge indeed.
You certainly can’t please everyone. Even though I’m not interested in most DLC, I appreciate the effort that goes into production of this stuff. Clearly people are buying it and liking it, but the whiners are in full force. Thanks for Hocus Pocus, really.
I’d love to see the number of downlods
Sales data is considered confidential and is only shared for big marketing reasons, generally — like if Assassin’s Creed hits a sales milestone, you’ll hear about it. Otherwise, you should not expect this information to be shared any more than any other business opening their ledgers for public inspection.
It’s ok, if my company were releasing mediocre products like this I would be embarrassed to show the numbers as well.
Carry on, my wayward son.
Vivendi making a play for ubisoft I think thats only good news for Rocksmith given that they will open the door to lots of music. That will also make next rocksmith version a lock
I woke up…saw my shadow…and I am going back to sleep. Someone at Ubi call me when you have something. Nice playing Elison, btw.
In the spirit of Halloween I say BOOOOOOOOO!!… To this pack!
How could anyone watch Ellison play through Hocus Pocus, yodeling and bizarre scat transcribed for guitar included, and *not* want to buy it? I feel sorry for your boring, sick soul if that is the case.
Nothing like missing the mark harder than Ray Charles at a Turkey Shoot.
I was going to figure out some leads I could play to jam along with the yodeling, flute and whistling solos in Hocus Pocus. Now it looks like I don’t have to bother. What a great track! A lot of the added leads even match what I was imaging in my head. 10/10, so much fun!
The other tracks are good, but passable for me. I’m trying not to buy songs anymore unless I love them. I’ve already got way too much DLC.
Yes, I’m all over “Dead Man’s Party”! Nice job Rocksmith. 😀
I’ll prolly pick up “Killed By Death”, too.
I had high hopes for this pack and am disappointed. the upside is all of the money I saved on dlc this month I can apply it towards a new bass. Thanks Rocksmith.
What Peter Jewell said – we would pay way more for decent classics – it’s win win all round that way instead of RS scraping up pennies for utter shite, looks like I will be using Songsterr until next tues anti climax .
i thought we were going to be getting the generic halloween junk you hear on the radio. wasn’t expecting this at all.
though, a small part of me was hoping for a band like Helloween or the monster mash just for a laugh. oh well, guess they have no sense of humor at ubisoft.
Nice pack. Could do without the Billy Talent but hey it might be fun. Really looking forward to Hocus Pocus and the Oingo Boingo song. They both sound like fun bass lines
Well, it was always going to be a disappointment after the initial excitement of it maybe being the Misfits. This is pretty awful though, regardless.
Haven’t aquired any DLC since Slayer. Whats that tell ya? Metal metal metal metal metal. Motorhead meh aight. But nope for me in the rest
For guitarists wanting to stretch, Jan Akkerman’s solos in Hocus Pocus are going to be a blast.
Meh, not really all that Halloween themed, some doom metal, stoner metal and some hard slow grunge would have set the mood for Halloween. These songs are awesome but meh for Halloween
Crap
1 more post and I will shut up…. I have read almost every post here and also on reddit when Dan posts his clues. I know that some of these bands don’t want to do Rocksmith, but go at it in a different way…. Lets take Pink Floyd…. (Please) David Gilmour has more money than God…. But he is also very charitable, Why not charge $20.00 for Comfortably numb…. I for one would pay that much, possibly even more for that one song!!!! Give the money to charity…. Or lets take Led Zeppelin. I work in a business that deals with many people every day. About a week ago I saw a 15 year old kid in my office with a Led zeppelin concert t-shirt on, and I said yeah right your into that because of your parents…. And he said no…. All my friends are into that type of music, hip hop is boring, in rock at least the musicians play instruments instead of a turntable. Anyway approach them with that type of stance look there are all these kids out there, that have never been to see you, have just started to get into your music, just think of the millions of new listeners you could get if some of these kids learned to play your music and then added your music to parties where their bands play….. Charge more for the “Premium bands” I think you might be surprised how many would be willing to pay more for the top 40 requested….
this is a fantastic idea… i’m so sick of the back burner stuff that’s coming out… each week should have a premium track… for a premium price (you bet, i’d pay it)… a standard track… and a “back burner” type track that will have limited appeal.
While I totally get your approach, i think it’s more than just a money issue. In the instance of David Gilmour – I believe he thinks his music a type of art and that using it in a game (I know RS is not a game but the perception could be argued) is not how he wants his music to be utilized. Consider the fact that Pink Floyd have not allowed licensing of their music for commercials or films{heck even the version of comfortably Numb for the departed is performed by someone else) and you start to see how they approach their work. Music to him is an artform and I really think he guards that.
In the event of Led Zepplin – I just really don’t think it will happen. I think they are aware of the fact that there are kids getting into their music but take the stance they will find it with or without Rocksmith. Sucks, i know, but with an army of lawyers and labels, they simply may not be interested in the concept.
I mean, after all these years I really think that there are bands that are just not interested an at some point the dead horse has been beaten. I wouldn’t be surprised if it came down to a purist approach of “if you want to learn my music, learn to read tab or sheet music” which, ultimately, isn’t a bad idea if you want to unlock the largest amount of content.
I truly believe some bands just are not interested and there is nothing anyone can do to change their minds.
I can confirm that some bands just are not interested and there is nothing anyone can do to change their minds.
We continue to ask, but some artists continue to say no thank you. It’s their artistic right to do so and we must respect it.
You’re contradicting yourself a little bit. You’re talking about how many people could get into new old music if it was on rocksmith, yet you seem pretty insistent on not trying out songs from artists you aren’t already interested in. Take a chance, you might be surprised on some of the groups you discover.
for myself, i listen to every track that rocksmith puts up for dlc…and while i have grabbed a track here and there that i was previously unfamiliar with, it’s just not that often… fact is, i’m getting less and less excited about tuesdays… it’s ok… i’ve got plenty of stuff to work on… and there is plenty of dlc that i do like and have yet to purchase…
Billy talent WONDERFUL they have one of the most underated guitarists ever creative fast and technically brilliant
Oingo Boingo is definitely an unexpected surprise. Happy to see them!
And This is the first time I have posted, but really guys…. I want to play something that is fun, and I understand that you want to put in other types of songs, but if your game is called Rocksmith…. Rock should be the focus!!!! your top 40 songs…. VAN HALEN, OZZY, BLACK SABBATH, ZZ TOP, MOTLEY CRUE, I know it costs a fortune to pay royalties…. but again read my previous post…. Rock doesn’t sell anymore!!!!! IF you put this on Rocksmith it would help them sell records again approach these guys and their management that way…. With downloading making those same bands pennies for each song, give the bands more money per DLC….. IT might even get them more sales of their albums…. I want to be excited again on Tuesdays….. I’m Begging!!!!
bit.ly/rsprocess has some details on some of the hurdles we face with some of the bands you’ve mentioned.
I have spent a ton of money in downloads over the last year but it seems as if the last few months…. this game should be called alternative, or pop-punk smith instead of rock….. why don’t you approach the “Rock-Gods” with the offer…. Hey dudes your records don’t sell anymore…. Our downloads will…. We should have seen Black Sabbath for Halloween or Alice Cooper “Feed my Frankenstein…. What has happened to the top 40 requested songs???? Kiss was great…. Thats rock Come on Guys…. I would assume you could figure out that the top 40 would bring you tons more money!!!!!
Dude they released a pack you said was good literally 2 weeks ago. Chill out with the doomsday stuff. And if you can’t play Strutter, Love Gun and God of Thunder perfectly and off the top of your head yet, you haven’t played them enough. So go practice those. And if you can play it perfectly, I’d like to see a video of it 😛
your an idiot I am asking for more…. Actually I could play that before it came out…. God OF THUNDER…. IM looking for stuff I can’t play like VH, and better more Halloween based songs…. Dead mans party is really the only “True Halloween song” My point was that “Rocksmith” again emphasis on Rock is not happening lately…… and I do understand putting other types of music in, I also love the Joe Bonnamassa…. I just saw him in concert at red Rocks less than 3 months ago….and no I can’t play that…. BUT when was the last time they released a top 40 request…… That is my point!!!!
Motorhead – Shut up and take my money (The rest are a pleasant surprise too)
Stay Focused, Because Lemmy is God!
no ghostbusters theme? wow. shame
