Rocksmith 2014 DLC 7/15 – Deftones

Rocksmith fans, it’s time to drop tune again with a four pack from California Alt-experiemental metal band, Deftones! Included in this four pack are songs from: Around The Fur, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), White Pony, Change (In The House Of Flies) and Digital Bath, and the Guitar Hero and Rock Band favourite, off Saturday Night Wrist, Hole In The Earth. It will be interesting to see how some of these songs sound and are charted in Rocksmith 2014. Should be a fun week for bassists and guitarists alike.

  1. This is one of my favourite bands but the song list, save for hole in the earth, is really weak. All the others are so easy to learn yourself.

  2. Change is probably my favorite Deftones song, but I don’t want to tune down each time I play it. I’ll pass…for now.

  3. AWESOME DLC Pack!!! Seriously right up my alley, I love Deftones and although this song selection may not be exactly what I would’ve wanted, It’s still really good! VERY Happy!!

  4. i like Deftones, but i don’t really like the song selection…
as it is not really hard stuff to play, they could at least choose more powerfull songs.. i really regrets there’s not “Bored” or “7words”….
    🙁
i won’t buy the whole pack, only “be quiet and drive”, and maybe “change”..

    1. Thanks for the advice. I currently have Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings, so this is probably the problem. I never had any issues with drop D on original Rocksmith – Soundgarden etc. I often go back to the 2012 Rocksmith because it is a lot easier for note recognition.

      1. Drop C tuning with 9-42 strings ?
I think we find the reason to your problem, your gauge is too light mate.

But RS don’t give a shit
“Hey Bro, tune your guitar in Drop D, hey bro tune your guitar in E Standard, hey bro tune your guitar in Drop C, hey try the Drop Db”

Not really healthy for a guitar.

        1. 10-52 is perfect on my Les Paul.Sounds great on dropped tuning.
On E Standard it makes a lot of bass tho

          1. lets just use one tuning to promote the health of guitars lol. They are guitars and meant to be played which includes tuning up and down. Why do people whine so much about re tuning a guitar its not a harp

  5. I just downloaded Change (in the house of flies). The game only recognizes about 75% of the notes on drop C. Would be easier if Rocksmith could emulate.

    1. Sometimes, it is as simple as turning the guitar volume all the way up. As good as RS is over USB, some signal loss is to be expected. That, and Drop-C makes for some loose strings. Even heavy Roto flat-wounds on my bass have issues that low (and likely me playing a bit too heavy-handed).

  6. 90s-style metal is pretty fun. Not a huge Deftones fan, but the wife digs them so I picked up the pack. Hole in the earth is pretty damn fun on bass! Haven’t played through any of them with guitar yet.

My only gripe is the game seems to have issues picking up Drop-C on my P-Bass. I’ll try it out with the wife’s Music Man (active PU) to see if that helps. If not, I’ll just stick with my favored E, Drop-D tunings…

Looking forward to whatever next week brings, unless it sucks! 😉

    1. You have to play really gently if your bass isn’t set up for Drop C. I too play on a P with Rotosounds (66s) and I have to play much lighter than I prefer to. I plan to buy another bass and get it set up with a heavier gauge for D Standard/Drop C tracks. Was putting it off, but with all the Drop C/D Standard content now I can finally do it. (System, Deftones, Godsmack, Mastodon, Monster Truck, etc)

      1. That is a very good point. Sometimes I’ll have some issues in Drop-D when I get carried away on such songs as Stockholm Syndrome (Muse). Dah Dah DAHHHHHH 😀

I suppose I can dial it way down on the attack with the super-doom tuning.

Oh, and I play with Roto SH77 on the P-Bass. Roto 66 on the MM Stingray.

  7. I wish it was 5 songs because 4 is not enough. They are so much fun on guitar because they are fairly simple but interesting enough to want to play

  8. Well that is so not my type of music. These guys were when I first heard them very unpleasant to me.

  9. I pass once more… It´s nice to see people happy with this DLC, good for Rocksmith that offers different kind of music for different tastes. Also I want to say that if you don´t like it, don´t buy it. Nobody is forcing you, but stop complaining. Soon there´ll be other packs that fulfill our expectations. 😛

      1. I know, how I wish we can have all these bands… But there is plenty of good bands that we may have in RS2014…

        1. Optimists… I hate optimists… (not really) But it’s better than the delusion that Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, or Beatles are ever going to make it to RS.

      1. no hes not. tommy ramone, the last surviving original member of the ramones, died this week AND they are on-disc artists so its likely they will get a dlc. and maybe if it was in the pipeline for later in the year they may move it forward since news of his death! plus its the ramones ffs! or are you just one of this morons who gets a kick out of digging at everyones comments no matter how innate. you sir, seem like a douche! 😆

  10. They may be fun on bass, but I wasted my money on some band’s 5 pack a month or two ago with Drop C charts and the game wouldn’t recognize my playing no matter what I tried. Not taking another chance.

    1. I have this problem sometimes, even got a friend to listen to me play along and then tell me if I messed up, he said no, the game said yes. I believe my guitar playing friend. I have actually found switching pickups can change it from not recognising some strings to recognising them all. It’s a bit tetchy at times, for sure.

  11. So happy for this pack. I am going to play the hell out of Hole in the Earth. I might buy another bass just to keep it in Drop C. Serious.

  12. Should hand out a prize for the first inevitable requests for Metallica et.al. in these threads each week.

  13. 4 songs ? Why not 5 ?
“Hole in the Earth” is not a good choice of song from me, another song from “Around the Fur” or “White Pony” would be better, Deftones is “dead” for me after “White Pony”, the rest sounds like always the same atmospheric shit.

    1. Hole is pretty good. Great bassline and the arpeggios on guitar sound fun to play. That album is solid too. Combat, Rapture, Beware has that sick outro riff that is amazing live when they extend it.

  14. only 4 songs? yes i'm very happy espically with digital bath their best song off of white pony aside from the 90s stuff the seniors will disagree but i don't care thank you rocksmith you made at least 1 person happy

  15. Im not one to normally criticise bands… Each to their own and all that… But just watched the Conan O’Brien show performance…
    Bloody Hell! 🙄

              1. i like Deftones a lot but i must admit the sound of his voice in this videoclip remind me of the kind of sound i make when i’m puking lol

  16. Digital Bath was a pleasant surprise. 😉
I’m also glad we didn’t get Passenger. I’m a big Tool and A Perfect Circle fan, but for some reason I cannot stand that song.

  17. They need to add more 80s and 90s stuff! I want stuff with Randy Rhoads! Some Metallica wouldn’t hurt either..

    1. Congratulations! For being the 1st person to request Metallica in this forum; *Your Wish is Granted!*

All 10 tracks off ‘Lulu’ 😆

      1. That would be the ultimate trolling from Ubisoft, finally giving the fans Metallica, and it’s only Lulu stuff, haha.

        1. Unlock a special *BONUS* track by completing the Mission; “Purchase the Metallica 10 Pack in *all* formats: PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Only $59.95 per pack.”.

Bonus Track is Lars Ulrich playing only his Magical (out of tune) snare from ‘St. Anger’ for 30 minutes, mercifully ending when Lars has a panic attack.

As with St. Anger, there is no lead guitar.

          1. On collection of the bonus song, Lars sets the RIAA on you for downloading a Metallica song for free.

The rest of the band then takes it in turns insulting your musical taste because you don’t like their latest album; ‘Lets talk about our feelings’, a collaboration with One Direction.

  18. I would have like some other songs from em’ or just more but i’m happy anyway since i really love that band.
    Instant buy.

  19. pumped to see Digital Bath up there.

I already know all of these songs except Hole In The Earth but I am still super excited to see this pack! Deftones used to be one of my favs to jam along with (10 years ago before things like RS and Guitar Pro existed). I had forgotten that until the pack hint was posted.

Since then, Deftones have been on nonstop rotation. I plan on spending the next few days playing these DLC songs as well as revisiting the first 3 albums with tabs… i used to love jamming with these albums. Now that I have a 120w head and 4×12 cab, I bet it’ll be even more fun!
