Hello Rocksmith fans!
Last Friday Rocksmith+ shared a very interesting video detailing a few key things.
- Anthony Martinez is still around (as Music Content Director)
- They recently reached an agreement with Warner Chappell Music
- Upcoming DLC is on the way (Green Day, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Paramore, Meshuggah, and (more?) Joy Division)
The video also explains how licensing works which previously nobody outside of the studio understood, and probably isn’t going to anytime soon.
Here’s the fun part! Because they have publishing rights and not master rights that allows them the opportunity to bring us back to the early days of Guitar Hero and Rock Band and license cover songs!
The video also assures us that Re-records WILL NOT replace Master Recordings, as they will never end their pursuit to license these tracks to replace these covers.
The first covers being released this week (we imagine) will include
- Van Halen “Jump”
- Van Halen “Panama”
- Elton John “Rocket Man”
