Song Speculation: U2, will enjoy the first Rocksmith DLC of 2017

Hey Rocksmith fans!

Get out your black beanies (toques if you are Canadian) – DLC for 2017 is kicking off with a 5 pack from the Irish – love them or hate them – band U2!

RollingStone222 gave us the clue again this week that TRR had the honour of posting (Let @DanAmrch have a vacation plz).

The first song confirmed is…

Wooohooo Wooohoooo. Ok, while most of this song should be really fun – when you see The Edge explaining what actually is going on for that intro riff, you start to think that the tone switches could end up causing some falling amp syndrome, just like a certain Rage Against The Machine song does.

So we know Vertigo is part of the pack, but seeing as the band has been together for more than 40 years, there are quite a few hits that could be filling out this pack.

What follows is speculation

Well, given the timing of the clue and the packs release – I’m personally really hoping this 1983 track off of WAR is part of this pack. Bass players should be happy if this one makes the pack and I’m really curious to see how they chose to chart it, since the guitar parts have multiple layers going on.

This song is not a rebel song – this song is a must for any U2 pack!

One of the big singles from Joshua Tree – I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For – might be a fun change of pace and make for a more well rounded pack.

Let’s face it, Rattle and Hum could and should be the first full album pack Rocksmith gets. But in case that can’t happen – I’m hoping we can at-least get this collaboration between U2 and the late, great B.B. King.

Another one that bass players will love – and if Poedy tracked the Saxophone parts – could make for an amusing alt-lead chart.

Can U2 be our backdoor way into a Beatles track in Rocksmith? Tell me, Tell me, Tell me the answer!

We are talking about U2 here folks, 13 studio albums from the last 36 years – there are a ton of likely contenders for this pack – what tracks are you hoping (or expecting) to see included in it?
Or should we just expect this DLC to automatically show up in our library?

  1. Well guys, I expect to see a lot of U2… this one just leaked into google’s cache

there are the songs: ‘With or Without You’, ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’, ‘Beautiful Day’, and ‘Vertigo’

  2. According to the comments on the Rocksmith Facebook post, the UK PSN store is showing the tracklisting as:
    Vertigo
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
Where the Streets Have No Name
    With or Without You
    Beautiful Day

  3. Definite purchase & practice, regardless of which tunes come with. New Years Day & Sunday Blood Sunday are two that I would like to learn. The latest tweet from Rocksmith has a photo of the

All That You Can’t Leave Behind album cover- perhaps a clue!

  4. Comon guys! We all know it’s the following: 1) Sunday Bloody Sunday, 2) One, 3) New Years Day, 4) Where the Streets Have No Name, 5) With or without you

  5. These songs in this order please…

    1. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

    2. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

    3. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me

    Preez fanx!

  6. What great news to start the year!!, i must admite that my favourite álbum is ATYCLB 😉 so I would like to see
    1. Wild Honey
    2. Walk On
    3. Beautiful Day
    4. In a little While

  7. I’d love any of these: Beautiful Day, Walk On, The Fly, Zooropa, One Tree Hill, A Sort of Homecoming, Bad, Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Out Of Control, Cedarwood Road, Breathe, Last Night on Earth, Two Hears Beat As One.

  8. Wow, unexpected, and much welcome! As mentionned by Dank Vader I guess New Year’s Day is mandatory in this new year’s pack, so my guess for the 3 others would be these 3 :

    Sunday (bloody sunday)
    One
With or Without You… or Pride (in the name of Love)

All well known hits of their. Great way to start the year! o/

      1. They both use an E chord but Elevation alternates between E and A and Vertigo slides from D to E. They also have different rythems aswell.

  9. Total surprise to see this dlc. I just forgot that u2 was even an option. Now let’s get some older material not like that Green Day pack

    1. Yeah, I forgot that they were even an option also and never put in any requests because of it……guess I better start putting in Zeppelin requests! Lol

  10. YEEEES! Requested this ages ago. I’d like to see Where the Streets Have No Name but I doubt this will be included. I’m happy with anything. Hadn’t bought any Rocksmith DLC in a looooong time but that may change now.

  11. Being the first pack of the year, it seems New Year’s Day is a given. I would be willing to place money on it being the Sunday twitter reveal.

  12. WOW!!!!! Unbelievable way to open the New Year Rocksmith; this was my band growing up! I know a lot of people (including Jack White and Eddie Vedder) might sneer at U2, but without argument one of the top 5 greatest rock bands ever. Edge is a genius and guitar virtuoso even if he sometimes hammers out only one note. Too many songs to choose? As an old school U2’er I would like to see a mix of old and current U2; some of their new stuff is quite good if you give it a chance and let it sink in. Ok, Ill stop I am too giddy right now!

  13. This threw me as I originally thought last month’s clue referencing Mary, pointed to Mary J Blige singing One thus directing us to a U2 pack. Ooops

Anyway, you mentioned “backdoor”s. I hope they don’t use this as an opportunity to bring in more BB King. I love BB. He’s one of the few artist where I’ll lob that “insta-buy” comment at you. Please don’t do it this way unless you are bringing in the whole Rattle and Hum album. (not mad if you do)

If we’re getting anything less than Rattle and Hum, here’s what I’d like to see:
    Desire
    Angel of Harlem
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
    Pride

    Starting the year off well.

Really hope Ubisoft finds some success in getting something together for all of these artists we’ve lost in 2016. (A Tribe Called Quest, Glen Frey, Prince etc.)

  14. Another major band, yes! Now let’s hope they combine a major band with awesome songs by said band to make a fabulous pack unlike the CCR and GD packs (except for long view) which seriously came up short in my opinion.
