Speculation: Fleetwood Mac among Hit Singles 4-pack coming to Rocksmith

Greetings, Rocksmith fans! Looks like Justin Sanders might want to cross an artist off his list, we’re finally getting Fleetwood Mac! (Although it’s only one song… better keep requesting!) If you were expecting an artist from Manchester, it looks like that’s most likely going to be on the 25th, as Fleetwood Mac are from London, England. Let’s have a look at Dan’s clue from the forums:

It’s in Telegraph Code.

In addition, the fellas at SCEE have, once again, leaked another track; Jet’s Are You Gonna Be My Girl.

In a similar vein to Love Singles and Players’ Picks, this hint is just a little too vague to let any of us at TRR effectively guess what might be coming, and the definition of “Hit” here isn’t even necessarily a Number 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, as Go You Own Way peaked at #10. We don’t even know what decade these songs are from, or if either of the remaining artists in this pack are already represented in-game or not, which is why we’re letting you, the fans guess what might be coming. Leave a comment down below with your two realistic picks under these two conditions:

1. The songs must have been, under a typical definition, hit singles (at or near the top 30, most likely).

2. This article from Elliott must be taken into consideration: https://www.theriffrepeater.com/why-your-favourite-band-isnt-on-rocksmith/ This means no blind guesses involving Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Guns and Roses, AC/DC, The Beatles, Van Halen, or Metallica

Along these lines, I personally would love to see this little 1982 #1 hit from an artist already represented in-game:

If you listen closely, there’s an intricate arpeggio-laden acoustic guitar track throughout most of this song.

See you Tuesday, Rocksmith fans!

Update:

Finally, it’s @DefLeppard!

  1. am i the only one who thinks Rocksmith is unfairly painted with the same brush of other band games? If the artists really knew that people are actually learning guitar their attitudes toward licensing songs to the title might change.

    1. Rocksmith may be ranked below the others honestly. I think the past few months have been pretty week in dlc, not all, but most. I don’t know if it has to do with the other games coming out or not, but I’d love to get half of the songs the plastic guitar games are getting on Rocksmith.

  2. Why is Van Halen struck through in the bands to not consider? Has their deal with Activision ended? Are they open to being in more games now?

  3. Thanx def for giving us so far pour some sugar on me and rock of ages but plz try not to give us those 2012 edit version its nothing compare to whats on pyromania or hysteria… im happy and really really sad in some way … at least go your own way thats the classic version tough i d saw one live on youtube with an extended solo that i would have been happy with but live version didnt exist in rocksmith

  4. Okay so two considerations
    1) A hit song
    2) Taking Elliott’s article (good one btw) in consideration

That’s all we have to go on?

Pretty wide field. Could be anything from No Sleep Till Brooklyn-Beastie Boys, to Chantily Lace-The Big Bopper to that highly overplayed What’s Going On (90s group whom I forgot their name) to a guitar version of Pharrell’s Happy.

    How about this.
    1) The Outfield – Your Love
    2) Magic – Rude

    Just throwing darts.

        1. Yeah, that’s them. And as MTV began it’s downward spiral, for some odd reason, this song remained on heavy rotation. And like a bad penny, they passed it off to VH1 who kept playing it through the 90s and into the early 2000s.

Not sure who is the bigger 1 Hit Wonder, 4 Non-Blondes, Johnny Kemp( Just got Paid) or Aha.

          1. Yes Marley I would say that you summed it up pretty good. That is when I knew music would never be the same.

    1. YES!!!! we need way more Def Leppard but I’ll take Rock of Ages until they can get us at least a 5 pack. By the way, I thought DL was out of Sheffield, so I don’t think this is the Manchester group

      1. Pack sold for me ! About Manchester, maybe some more Oasis ? Aren’t they from Manchester ? Many hits remaining in their discography. :o)

  5. Well goddamn! It’s been well over a year since Paul promised us some Fleetwood Mac DLC, but it’s finally squeezing out the pipeline. If I remember correctly, he estimated a late 2014 release, which is a slightly longer delay than other bands he’s ballparked (and I understand these sorts of things take time to release for a ton of reasons, no complaints on my part).

Anyway, his tweet about Fleetwood Mac also included confirmation of Dire Straits DLC. Most would have predicted Fleetwood Mac to get a solid song pack, and Dire Straits certainly deserves one as well, but I’d imagine a single from both of them fits the bill for this week’s DLC.

Now, if we’re sticking to the transportation theme, we’d probably end up with Walk of Life come Tuesday. That, or Sultans of Swing gains a whole new meaning. Of course, Money For Nothing tells us all about moving appliances…

I’d love to be wrong and see a Dire Straits five-pack later on down the line (and one doesn’t permanently negate the possibility of the other), but this just seems more plausible (even if I’m basing it off of a sixteen-month old tweet with no solid reasoning for the two bands being grouped together, aside from the “hit singles” qualifier).

  6. it appears that ubisoft dlc’s no longer feel the need to appeal to people under the age of 65 🙁

    1. Music can be universally loved and transcend time periods; ever wonder why so many old genres undergo revivals? The 1980s Rockabilly Revival, the mid-2000s Garage Rock/Post-Punk Revival, and the 2010s Disco Revival immediately come to mind.

Many of my friends from High School not too long ago loved listening to the Beatles alongside popular contemporary artists.

    2. I guess It’s much cheaper to post dlc with really old bands and pay to play bands that typically pay media to play their songs on an endless loop. I’m guessing it’s easier for Ubi to make money playing it safe. If I’m wrong, then RS with release challenging dlc.

        1. Also check out…
“Buckingham Nicks – Don’t Let Me Down Again”
Not bad riffs on there. It’s pre-Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham + Stevie Nicks. Got a request in for that one 😉

  7. How about:

Pearl Jam- Even Flow (#3 on Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts and one of their biggest hits)

CCR- Fortunate Son (Also peaking at #3 on Billboard)

Those are both songs that I would love to play, and we have seen both bands already!

  8. Sticking with the transportation theme (Fleetwood, Jet) and given Ubi’s propensity for only releasing single tracks from this band, how about Space Truckin’ by Deep Purple?

  9. This could be a good pack,I’d love it of they included “boys of summer” by Don henley, but good choice In Fleetwood Mac though 🙂

  10. since this looks to be a “cheesy hits pack”
    Lover Boy’s…….working for the weekend
    and
Devo’s….crack that whip………..have a probable chance of being included

  11. Lol a telegraph as a clue, one band named after an airplane and another that shares a namesake with an RV company…..Is it possible this DLC also has a transportation theme to it?

      1. Good call 🙂
Another one with enough for a pack. Take your pick…
        – Roll With The Changes
        – Take It On The Run
        – Can’t Fight This Feeling
        – Say You Love Me Or Say Goodnight

  12. I hate that Jet song, I mean really truly hate it and wish I had never heard it. I quite like the fleetwood mac one, maybe i’ll like the other two. I can hope.

    1. I don’t think you have to worry. Jet does not appear in the Sony store for Rocksmith, whoever called that made a mistake.

  13. Jet’s is from Australia in 2003.
Fleetwood Mac’s is from 1976 and is a US-UK band.

Not sure how to connect these two songs to predict the other two.

edit – Africa would be awesome!

    1. It’s kinda like Players’ Picks; Ubisoft SF didn’t want to wait to release the songs, so they sometimes bundle unrelated songs if they cannot make a complete themed pack.

  14. Seriously though out of all Fleetwood Mac we get the crappiest poppiest one. How about some Oh Well or just about anything they did? Also steely Dan.

    1. someone brought up The Outfield for the Manchester pick. That or Totos africa would round off what was already a great pack for me.

  15. Really love that Jet’s song, requested it long time ago! <3
Kinda like that Fleetwood Mac song but I'll be waiting for the other songs to decide if I get the pack or just a few songs.
My blind guesses/wishes for the 2 remaining:

The All-American Rejects – Gives you hell (#6 on the bilboard)
Bryan Adams – The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me… (#6 too)

    1. if we got some pop punk id rather have jimmy eat world with the middle or red jump suit apperatues with face down, maybe a used song, has a little bit more guitar work then All american rejects, or we could go back a few more years and get some simple plan, Good Charlotte, sugarcult , or the long forgotten Start Static

  16. Oh God… Jet… Ghay… Fleetwood Mac is a must but Jet members are failed techno heads (read up on that) they shouldn’t be allowed near musicians

      1. Better yet, add
        Coney Hatch – Monkey Bars
Loverboy – the kid is hot tonight
        Honeymoon Suite – Lonely man
        For a Canadian 5 pack

  17. I want it all by queen might doesnt fit but i want it now

Just for go your own way im happy as fuck as hell this one is so fun to play i cant wait that is an insta buy man 4 me waiting till tuesday s gonna be long but will worth the wait best news for weeks!!!!…?.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You dont know but i use a tablet so i cant only press one time !!!!!!!!!!!! So good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!go your own way hope the end solo gonna be there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!im tired and work at 3 am but this is worth pressing each time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. My Word it’s about time. Finally some Fleetwood Mac. The best choice IMO would have been BIG LOVE but hey, at least we got something.

  19. I think the pack will be about songs that have stood the test of time like this one, so older than 10 years. Maybe a Joan Jett track, Green Day, etc. Would love to see a U2 song, but I think if they went into the game they would get a full pack. Though…Fleetwood Mac is a huge band that still sells albums and can still sell out any arena also, so you never know.

I hope to see a full Fleetwood Mac pack in the future. Something like:
    1. Sisters of the Moon
    2. Rhiannon
    3. The Chain
    4. Seven Wonders
    5. Dreams

    1. Yes, would like to see a pack at some point. Requested “The Chain” some time ago (along with “Go Your Own Way” of course).

  20. My picks:
Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way (Confirmed)
Jet – Are You Gonna Be My Girl? (Confirmed)
The Mars Volta – The Widow (Yes, it peaked)
Queen – We Will Rock You (We STILL need MOAR Queen)

    1. If Queen were coming so soon after two other singles, and Ubisoft SF plans DLC out months in advance, wouldn’t it make more sense for them to sell them in a Queen II three-pack?
Not that I’m denying your guess, it could be that Ubisoft just decided to arrange the singles in this fashion.

          1. Edit, nvr mind, I need to recheck, some are showing.

Love the site Elliott, but you need to allow for edits.
