Speculation: Rocksmith Newsletter hints at June DLC

Hello Rocksmith fans!

Another month and yet another newsletter tease at what’s to come!

Arrival of EVEN MORE ROYALTY

You can’t fool us Dan, we know it’s @QoTSA, and if it’s not then I guess the back up might be @royalblooduk (Paul’s been talking about them) or @KingsOfLeon.

See.

Something monstrous

So my first bet was maybe @Slipknot being a remaining Top 40 Request, but that got me to thinking about other “monstrous” bands we are lacking DLC from like White Zombie and Alice Cooper…

a few classic slices of Americana

This will probably end up being a mixed singles pack but who is more Americana then Bruce Springsteen?

Yes, it’s definitely possible to license The Boss…

two unusual animals (two weeks of DLC?)

is it two different animals? In any event I am pretty confident that Monkeys that live in The Arctic are pretty unusual but so is a Leopard that is Deaf I suppose…

I’m really cursing myself by speculating Def Leppard aren’t I?

Of course those are just my guesses. What do you think is coming this June? Come back tomorrow for next week’s DLC clue!

  1. ‘Something monsterous’ could be a reference to Metallica and Some Kind of Monster ? Unlikely but you never know !

  2. I’ll admit that I have no idea of what would be the most appropriate article to pose this question in, but I got to thinking about this again after seeing the rumors of RS 2015 show up. Regardless of whether or not that rumor ends up being true, I have to wonder: what are/were the plans for the “Expansions” section that is included in RS 2014’s shop section?

  3. Rockabilly has been confirmed for this week. I don’t think the team at Rocksmith can afford to pay for anymore good bands. Packs have been garbage for 2 months now

  4. What if “classic Americana” is a troll and we’re getting another Offspring pack?

    1. Something monstrous, Alice Cooper because it’s June and School’s Out! and could we be refering to songs, if so then a Southbound Pachyderm sounds pretty unusual to me (not to mention it’s video) and i have always found Scorpions unusual too.

  5. Alright, here’s my guess.
Somthing Monsterous – Gwar (not a fan but we seem to have a metal artist every month)

Americana – Don McClean, John Fogerty, Bob Dylan, and John Cougar/John Cougar Mellencamp/John Mellencamp (<–not sure which one he's using) Bruce Springsteen (would prefer Cougar and Fogerty)

Unusual Animals – Def Leppard, Whitesnake, White Lion, or Fishbone. (would prefer DL)

Royalty – Anything other than B.B. is a Fail at this point. Would understand if it were Prince .

  6. Let me think. What are some notable Rob Zombie songs.

    Dragula
    Superbeast
    Living Dead Girl
    American Witch
    Meet the Creeper
    House of 1000 Corpses
    The Devil’s Rejects

Hmmmm, I wonder what the monster pack could possibly be…

  7. maybe Bob Dylan for Americana, but Chet Atkins would be nice too (make my day anyway). BB King seems like a must, though. Arctic Monkeys makes sense those songs will certainly sell. Rob Zombie or Vampire Weekend seem like natural fits to songs already in the mix

  8. Im thinking Pixies pack with the Pixies- Gigantic , for something monstrous but then again I guess ive been hopeful for a Pixies pack for quite some time. More Violent Femmes – American Music ? for the slice of Americana.

  9. Manson has a new album out and can be considered monstrous. Slipknot is a solid guess as well. Don McClean American Pie is the first thing I think of with a Slice of Americanna

  10. Arctic Monkeys 5 pack
    Mardy Bum
    A Certain Romance
    Flourescent Adolescent
    Crying Lightning
    Black Treacle

  11. Hopefully “Something monstrous” is hinting at a possible Slipknot DLC pack since they are quite a monstrous band.

  12. Oh, that explains it. It seems like I’ve been hearing American pie on the radio often and on different stations.

  13. …a SLICE of Americana? I’ll have to think on that for a while… Oh, hey a bit off topic, but did anybody else notice that Don McLean sold one of his manuscripts a few months back? What was that song called again?

  14. Sorry, I can’t let this pass. Last month we lost our last living connection to the roots of the Blues.

At this point, it would feel almost like an insult to include any royalty other than Mr. Riley B. King.

  15. Royalty = Solved by QotSA
Something monstrous = Probably a heavy metal artist. We have been getting at least one heavy metal band every month.
A slice of Americana = Mixed pack of “Americana” artists. Could be something classic rock or could be something modern or maybe a mix of both.
Two unusual animals = We are getting five DLCs this month, so I will say Arctic Monkeys and Def Leppard are going to be the two unusual animals.

    1. I agree with you on that Def Leppard. Sounds like an unusual animal to me. I’m thinking the Americana might be John Cougar/John Mellencamp/John Cougar Mellencamp. (not sure which one to use)

    2. Sooo… Your big insight and depth adding contribution to this article and discussion is you completely agree with the author and have nothing original to add?

  16. In other words don’t get my hope up for anything good…. The boss would be sweet!!..but don’t think that will happen either

  17. A few other ideas:

“Something Monstrous” could refer to Vampire Weekend
“Unusual Animals” could be Them Crooked Vultures or Toad the Wet Sprocket, or maybe The Dodos
Royal Blood wouldn’t be surprising as I believe one of their tracks was recently announced for Guitar Hero Live.
