For some reason my last comment is awaiting moderation but while I sit here playing RS I’m just thinking this genre will be forever linked to the ‘power ballad’ that would have been a guilty pleasure DLC pack so hopefully someday….another true guilty pleasure song from this genre would be ‘Smooth up in ya’ by the Bulletboys…

  3. Well autograph was definitely an “opening act” but poison was a headliner and winger’s first two studio albums went platinum so if I can speculate on openers…

  4. I see we have three confirmed songs so far, and all are great.

    I saw a comment from Dan over on the DLC forums stating that, while their definition of “arena rock” covered rock bands who were able to sell out said arenas, there were also a band or two that might have been considered more of an “opening band” in popularity.

    Hearing that, I’d love it if Wishbone Ash made it in– they sold out huge arenas and also opened for bands like the Who and Kansas before they fizzled out of the limelight. Twin guitars, catchy as hell bass, and prog goodness would fit this game like a glove.

  5. I’m pretty excited for this singles set. The three (out of five) songs announced so far all have some wicked guitar in them. For those metal people complaining about easy guitar parts, I’d like to see people master these. My fingers hurt already.

    So we have for sure:
    Winger- Seventeen
    Poison- Nothin’ But a Good Time
    Autograph- Turn Up the Radio

    I think the other two are:
    Night Ranger- Sister Christian
    Warrant- Cherry Pie

    I thought about who would be best served by a single pack, and that’s what I’m thinking. Though, I would like to see “Here I Go Again” and/or “Still of the Night” by Whitesnake later too…

      1. I don’t know why these came to mind, but REO Speedwagon and Starship keep coming to mind. I don’t think they are Arena rock at all, but it won’t go away.

        So PLEASE get the last 3 songs outed so I can erase these tracks from my mind!

        1. REO Speedwagon is very Arena Rock. I half expect something in the final two to be more hard rock than hair metal, since they didn’t call it a hair metal pack.

  10. When I think arena rock, I think of the Scorpions, Also Nova, Loverboy, Golden Earring… Well, I actually think of some other arguably bigger names, but these seem likely. Outside of the Scorpions, I’d be content with just a song or two from the others I listed. Let’s hope no big names are given just a single song!

    1. I’m not a huge fan of Scorpions, but I’d buy some of their songs for my RS..
      I think they deserve their own pack. They have MEGA hits that are still airing on radio, I have just heard “Still loving you” few hours ago on a french radio.

  15. 80’s hard rock/hair metal after 1986 I really don’t consider ‘arena rock’ lumping Kansas with Mötley or Skid Row is lame but give me some Billy Squire and I’ll be happy….if they’re going the hair metal route, please include some TESLA!!!!!

  19. Still waiting for that Meatloaf 5 pack, but this might get me by. Beside what happen to the Tenacious D rumors. Been a slow month for DLC. Maybe next month we will get some Jim Croche (Time in a Bottle, Leroy Brown, Operator), Simon and Garfunkel (Sound of Silence?), Mama’s and the Papas (California Dreaming), actually the entire Forest Gump Soundtrack would do. Perhaps if we are super lucky they will go way back and give us that Chuck Berry 5 pack we have all been waiting for. Where are the 50’s greats? There is just so much amazing music being passed over. And if it is really all about technical skill, then why aren’t they forking over the big bucks for Floyd, Clapton, Vaughn, G&R,and Metallica?!

    2. I’ve got 6 of them as I stocked up when they were phasing out the original Rocksmith for $10 bucks w/cable, unfortunately the cables are not for sale but if you would like to purchase the origianal Rocksmith for PS3 or Xbox w/out cable I got you covered

  32. Forest1903 – Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” was already released for Rocksmith 1. So go forth and snag it!

    So many arena rock hits are from groups I’d like to see a whole song pack from. Warrant’s Cherry Pie would be a good addition. Also, something like Aldo Nova’s “Fantasy” or something like that – very Loverboy-esque. Nice one-hit-wondery over-the-top classics. That would be awesome.

    Really looking forward to finding out the other two songs. I think all three will be a day-1 download for me if they are in the same vein as Autograph.

  36. Also, you know what else plays at arenas? BASEBALL!!! Glad Rocksmith didn’t do a Kansas City band DLC like Puddle of Mudd since they jinxed the Orioles by releasing Seven Nation Army this week.
