Rocksmith 2014 DLC 12/9 – Rage Against The Machine

Well Rocksmith fans, we are finally here. It’s time for Rage Against The Machine to make their Rocksmith 2014 debut, and it seems like it was most definitely worth the wait. You’ve already been introduced to the trio as Audioslave but now here they are in the original incarnation, ladies and gentleman Rage Against The Machine!

Ubisoft delivers us not five, not six, but SEVEN songs from the politically charged, rap-metal band this week. A wide variety of songs ranging from their self-titled, their chart topping follow up Evil Empire, and finally their cover album, Renegades.

Bassists will delight in the never ending grooves of Tim Commerford, Guitarists will finally figure out what Tom Morello is playing under all those amazing pedals, and who knows, someone might actually plug in the microphone to take on Zack de la Rocha’s rapid fire delivery, or attempt the haunting vocals of Maynard James Keenan (Know Your Enemy). That’s one step closer to Tool right?

Rage Against the Machine Song Pack (I-II) – $15.99 / Steam

Was this RATM pack worth the wait? Is this a day one buy? Or are you saving your money for Jimi Hendrix next week?

Many thanks to Ubisoft for the hardwork on this game, coding and negotiating with the bands is certainly not an easy job.

I enjoy RATM and I am sure I will love the Hendrix pack too. Next year what about a Christmas song pack? With uncensored lyrics 😉

Jacob

Does anyone know when ratm song pack will be available for download for PS3 for users based in Denmark?

Jacob

When is the rocksmith 1 import pack gonna come on the ps4?

UbisoftStudioSF (@UbisoftStudioSF)

That is a darn good question, but no matter where you live, I don’t have an ETA. We’re definitely aware and we’re making both MS and Sony aware, as it’s not “download on demand” on either system. On PS4 in EU territories, I honestly have no insight into when they will post it, as they are following a schedule that is different from the one we proposed and the one that US PS/Xbox followed.

Got to throw in an alternate point of view here. As the Stones go to Muddy Waters, (additionally) Keith Richards and Angus Young to Chuck Berry, Clapton to Johnson, SRV to King and Hendrix to Buddy Guy to Hubert Sumlin and Howlin’ Wolf, Jack White to Son House, and Santana and Gibbons to Hooker, it is important for musicians and those aspiring to be, even for recreation, to know history. Know where things came from. I’m using Rocksmith for my own growth as well as my kids. I don’t want them to know only the music of today. My kids are learning from Rocksmith. It’s a musical history lesson for them. And unlike Rock Band and that other mess, they have a chance to really learn music. Even in songs that aren’t on RS, my kids can identify Aerosmith, Boston, Blink 182, Santana, and others when heard on the radio. (feel some pride as their father that they’re recognizing.) What I don’t want is for them to go blurting out inappropriate language, especially when I’m out of earshot and unable to provide gentle reminders/correction.

For that reason, I don’t mind censored versions of songs on RS. True, RATM may be a bit above the level of my children, however; if there’s a way to keep that door open, great. Don’t have a censored way to get them interested in PE (I hope someone out there knows who I’m talking about) so a censored RATM will do nicely. Add to that, this is a band Daddy likes. The lyrical content, like PE, includes other things to talk about besides the normal sex, drugs, and Rock N Roll.

Side note: Did anyone really buy Rocksmith so strictly for unedited lyrics? Just curious.

Love Peace and Soooooooooouuul y’all.

HA!

Random, but do you guys know what songs feature a slide except for the Petty ones? I just got a new slide ring and want to practice 🙂

Good timing too because Tom Morello is making my fingers hurt something fierce. This is an outstanding pack.

HA!

Right! Good call. Thanks, Elliott.

IZ

Not happy about the censorship. Jeremy drops the F bomb and plenty of other songs are untouched with edits. Why was this necessary? There’s such irony in it too, censoring a RATM song.

Honky thom

seriously? It’s a fucking swear word, yell it out yourself if it matters that much to you. It’s SO utterly inconsequential!

IZ

It’s not about the word or that it’s a swear. I could not care less if the singer had said something else in place. What ruins it for me is the structural integrity of the song. Hearing it original my whole life and then hearing just silence from the edit is not pleasing to the ears. It breaks up the shape of the song for me. It just sounds off.

Couldn’t they have at least replaced it with another word?

Honky thom

no because whatever they would replace it with would just sound stupid and there would be even more complaints. “Hey, Jim, here where it says, ‘baby we can’t get much higher’, we thought you could sing, ‘Baby you could bite my wire’. How does that sound to you?”

HA!

“No Battle of Los Angeles?” Wah frickity wah. Pull up your panties and get over it!

We got 7 songs from them after two previous weeks of top 40 requests! And we get Hendrix next week!

Maybe we’ll get a BoLA pack after the incredible sales of these songs.

Eithet way, played these this afternoon and it’s more like Rage Against the Fingers. Ouch! Know Your Enemy is gonna take me weeks to master, if ever. Now THAT is good value for DLC haha

Honky thom

Hear hear!

Gronk

No Battle of los Angeles No party. Fuck Ubisoft

CRig

You’re totally right. You should sell your copy, give away your guitar, and leave the boards. Then we won’t have to see your pathetic complaints anymore. Grow up.

Gronk

Nah, this boards would be all boring ass kissing without the complaints and some verbal violence. Maybe you should stop being b8 m8

CRig

Actually, mission accomplished by having you admit to being a troll. Regardless, I’m happy to call out your hypocrisy and childishness.

Gronk

Lol I didn’t know Ubisoft had bought this page. Is surreptitious advertising legal in Canada? Maybe you should make it official

Gronk

Then maybe you should consider a journalistic approach instead of this corporative tongue kissing you’re running,

You take care too sweetie xoxo

Jim Munn

I love you too, Momficer!

Honky thom

Mum, I told you to stay OFF the message boards… Jeez…

wonderwaage

It’s cool to have debate, that is true. But when one side is going: Oh, cool, Ubisoft, and the other is going “FUCK UBISOFT ASSCHEESE” then, why bother?

I find it’s fair to be disappointed by a specific song not getting chosen. But, c’mon, boy.

UbisoftStudioSF (@UbisoftStudioSF)

Uh, thanks for the offer, but we’re in a committed relationship.

Sorry we couldn’t fulfill your request; we cleared all the songs we could (and more than we thought we’d be able to clear). This process took a long time; we’ve been chasing some of these tracks for years. We’d hoped to get Killing in the Name of into the original RS1.

has some insight into our song licensing process. We’ve got a slightly more detailed document at https://forums.ubi.com:443/. And of course, your requests are always welcome at — but only if you understand that it’s a suggestion box, not a vending machine. Please set your expectations accordingly.
