Rocksmith 2014 DLC 5/5/2015 – Blues Song Pack

Hello Rocksmith fans! Are you ready to play the Blues?

This week’s DLC features some highly requested classic Blues artists! If you ever played @FSGStudio’s DJ Hero you will probably recognize Bobby “Blue” Bland’s Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City, @OsagaTheGreat nailed the prediction on Freddie King, but just picked the wrong song (that’s okay Oscar), Howlin’ Wolf being included in a music game before Led Zeppelin is quite delicious, I only wish it was Killing Floor instead 😉 John Lee Hooker brings the delta blues to Rocksmith 2014, and to wrap it up Johnny Winter brings a flurry of notes for you to deal with on Be Careful With A Fool.

how do I download this pack?

MarleySantana

I know that no-one is still posting to or reading this site, but I’ve got to put this on. Honestly, I don’t think any guitarist is as beloved by other guitarists of various genres as Mr. Riley B. King. I’ve ready about guitarists from metal, rock, pop, jazz, gospel, country, rap, and of course blues praising and becoming friends with B.B.

I’ve been paying attention to this over the last few years. Fortunately, I got to see B.B. in concert when he played HNL in 2011. Even in his mid 80s he still had it, and a packed Blaisdel Area was one its feet for a large part of a amazing performance.

While this video is not my favorite version of this (my favorite song by BB) the video does show what most guitarists including Chuck Berry comment on frequently when referring to BB–his vibrato.

Ubisoft, if you’re listening–and yes I already made my request–whenever you see fit (Lord willing sooner than later) HOW BLUE CAN YOU GET is an essential requirement for any B.B. or blues pack on the horizon.

To not just the King, but the Ambassador of the Blues – The Blues Boy, MR. B.B. KING

Note: sorry about all of the typos in that post. I typed it out quick and didn’t get to proofread it.

Alistair

RIP BB King

Chris

Be careful with a fool on bass is making my fingers fall off. Awesome pack. Ordering by year to find them is a pain though.

MarleySantana

Well I hope Ubisoft looks at and takes into account the number of posts on this Riff Repeater site. (not sure if they read what we write or not)

Since Rage last year, no DLC has received as many comments as this blues DLC. Would be nice if this contributes to Ubisoft’s understanding of what content we all want to see more of. (of course this is being said with the understanding there are licensing/permission issues)

Bottom line,
Bring on more blues.

Jim

Well, here’s another comment for good measure. The blues are so fun to play after you learn the basic feel for a song. I would buy any blues they put out. I’ve been mindlessly playing these tracks along with the Jimi tracks all week hoping I’ll get the awesomeness by osmosis.

Jim

I mean reverse osmosis.

j

I love blues!! I’m thinking I have to buy a new guitar in honour of blues. I’m finding it to hard playing these songs on strings gauged for drop C. You riffrepeater guys should do a post on string gauges and different guitars for different music styles. I know I would read it.

Miguel

I read somewhere that those blues masters liked light weight gauges to make bends a lot easier. With anything, you take the good with the bad. Lighter gauge means less sustain but easier playing. It’s all a matter of personal preference. I play nines or tens on a les Paul. That covers most styles of guitar.

j

Every time I change my strings I try something different. But I have to adjust my Intonation ect. for the different gauge. If I was was using 9-42 or 10-46 the strings are fine in E but way too loose in D or C. I like playing all different styles and I think I am just going to get a new guitar for everything in E and use my current one for a D and C guitar. I have tried a lot of different things even getting medium gauge strings that work for E and D but, C (Dethlock) is too loose. It would be cool if someone were to post an article discussing string gauges and all the issues changing presents.

old guy

I use Ernie Ball skinny tops heavy bottoms on all my guitars and they are pretty good for everything. They respond well to lower tunings with out being floppy(low E is 52 gauge) and they bend easy once you get used to it.

j

I have tried a similar set up before and it did work fine for tuning E to D.

At least there’s only one loser on this site, everyone else who comments on here seems to be respectful and worth talking to. Gotch71 really has no impact here.

Let’s see what rocksmith has in store for us after a month of sub par downloads… Maybe john Denver or Simon & garfunkel.

Miguel

Go away Troll

Benjamin Steel

I love when they do opposite sides of the spectrum back to back… Dethklok followed by old school blues couldn’t put the phrase, “Variety is the spice of life” any better… Fingers crossed for some jazz…. Vulcan Worlds FTW

Stan

Oh man, I think a jazz pack would break my fingers. But that would be awesome.

MarleySantana

Seems like this may be one of the most popular DLC of 2015, or at least it is one of the most commented on. Looking back, only Buckley has more posts this year, and that’s not by much. (this topic is only 5 short)

A testament to the remaining popularity of the blues. (of course I’m sure that will change one way or the other, now that I’m stating this.)

old guy

Johnny Winter might be the crown jewel of this pack.

Jim

Freddie King is found.

Where the HELL is GnR

Awesome Sweet Child of Mine by GnR great addition im getting it for sure!

jeam95

Sorry your head hurts

Wishful thinking in the form of sarcasm can be difficult for the small minded. My in sincerest of apologies.

Thinking of you but not really

Elliot your family pictures are nice thanks for sharing 😀

MarleySantana

Aaah like a breath of fresh Hawaiian air, this just feels right. The Blues on Rocksmith.

So glad to be learning some of Hubert Sumlin’s fills. I know it’s asking a lot, but I’d love to see a five pack just for Howlin Wolf and crew. Or how about this. A ten pack from Chess Records. (Would need no less than three each from Wolf and Waters)

Matt

Can I cast my vote for best DLC of the year yet? Thank you for this Ubisoft.

MarleySantana

Got a second vote on that. I agree.

Chris

It’s time for Jon spencer Blues explosion tell everyone
