Queen and Green Day will be in Rocksmith 2014

In what was thought to be reserved only for BandFuse, new songs for Rocksmith 2014 have been found out by way of a trailer at Tokyo Game Show. Those two songs are as follows:

  • Green Day – “X-Kid”
  • Queen – “We Are the Champions”

Interesting to note is that Green Day seemed to have exclusivity to Rock Band, so this is definitely a major get for the franchise.

Now, if only we could get the greatest song of all time in to the game…

      1. You’re The One always getting on people’s cases about requests, you Just Got To Be. I know these are Strange Times, and requests might feel like the Same Old Thing, but he’s just a Lonely Boy Howlin’ For You. So let’s all just Tighten Up here, requests will Set You Free!

        Also Gold On The Ceiling.

  1. Nice to see some Green Day in the mix! “X-Kid” is, in my opinion, one of the better songs from “Uno, Dos, Tre” for sure. I’d like to see some older Green Day though, the bass lines on those older tracks were more complex than their recent stuff.

  2. Gotta say not overly impressed with tracklist thus far but will buy all the same. Give us some more old school rock. Dire straits, bon jovi, more foo fighters, zz top please

  3. I think RockSmith can include this Green Day song ’cause Harmonix only have the rights to the albums from 1,039/Slappy to 21st Century Breakdown and Oh Love song which they released as a DLC to Rock Band 3. So, if Ubisoft does a Green Day Rocksmith DLC, it could only be songs from the trilogy (Which could be awesome if they pick the good ones such as Wow! That’s Loud, Makeout Party or Dirty Rotten Bastards to mention some), and we’ll see something from all their other albums when Harmonix’s rights on Green Day songs expire.

  4. isn’t green day another band we won’t be seeing and why hasn’t rocksmith gotten any RATM it’s been leaked since the start of the first one 😡

    1. i’d imagine a lot of ratm stuff would be hard to emulate. both the tones (although with autoswitching this might be easier) and the techniques Tom Morello uses are a bit unconventional.

the only song that comes to mind that would be easy to accurately transpose to RS would be Bombtrack and MAYBE Killing In The Name (if the whammy effect is automatically added)

  5. My kids (four year old twins) have recently gone gaga over Queen’s Bicycle Race (thanks to Angry Birds oddly enough). So I’m slowly introducing them to some other choice tracks by Queen. This is a huge switch from their normal soundtrack of non-stop Disney. My household is full of so much win right now. 😀

Anecdote aside I’m super jacked about the inclusion of this legendary Queen track!

  6. That’s rather good/disappointing news… I don’t care for that Green Day song, but I love the band. I don’t think that Queen song is the best pick for a guitar/bass game, but I sure do love the game.

    1. I’m not so sure about this X-Kid business, but if this means there’s even a chance for a Green Day DLC pack containing their legitimate classics … well, consider me stoked!

      1. anything prior to warning would be awesome. and i’ve got a good feeling we’ll see a green day pack eventually… i mean, fall out boy got a 5 pack.
