Today’s Rocksmith 2014 DLC is a 5 Pack from now defunct Alternative Rock legends R.E.M.

Alternate tuning haters rejoice, as this week there is only one D Standard song to pass on!

If you haven’t mastered an Arpeggio song yet, Everybody Hurts is definitely worth a purchase and despite the hate that Shiny Happy People gets, that song is really fun to play.

  1. I too would love to see some Celtic Frost. Also Bathory, Voivod, Darkthrone, Carcass, Bolt Thrower and Entombed. On the non metal side of things, I’d like to see some Smiths, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Fields Of The Nephilim, Suede and PJ Harvey.

  2. At the risk of being booed off stage, I would love to go in the other direction. I would love the next DLC to include some sweeter songs. Like some John Denver or some Simon and Garfunkel.

Tunes I can play to my wife for the purposes of romancin’.

Yes, I know that it is “Rock”smith and not “Soppy ballad”smith… but still…

  3. Well it’s an obvious pattern going on here? Is a Bush song pack coming soon? I still wish they would add some sublime tunes!

  4. I’m hoping for some newer metal next week, all that remains, machinehead, five finger death punch or even some black label society or in flames.

  5. I kinda like Uberlin but I think these packs with newer tunes from classic bands need to be the 4th or 6th choice for a 3 or 5 song pack and cost less than the songs that have stood up to the test of time.

Also, I love the fact Kenneth is on there. I remember when it came out the local pool hall had it on the jukebox and it was a fun tune to put on. I even learned how to play that backwards guitar solo and yes, I am getting fairly old!

  6. Hey, that’s a nice surprise! A pack that isn’t full of dead obvious choices.

I was always itching to play Shiny Happy People in Rock Band or Guitar Hero, so it’s nice to see that finally make it into a music game. Uberlin was a big surprise.

  7. Stand in the place where you live
    Now face your internet
Think about why Stand isn’t DLC
    Wonder why you haven’t before

I will still buy the pack, but it is disappointing that only 1 of the 3 songs I looked forward to most made it.

      1. Well that was uncalled for. Maybe he’s not a metalhead at all. Maybe his favorite genre is college rock, but he’s so sick of all the college rock DLC packs that he wants some metal for a nice change of pace. Or maybe he is a metalhead. Are metalheads not welcome here?

    1. Well … hate may be a bit of a strong word, but they do fill me with an overwhelming sense of apathy … as does this pack. What can I say, the MEH is strong with this one. I guess one man’s R.E.M. is another man’s Godon Lightfoot.

    2. I’m stoked to get a five pack. I don’t hate Shiny Happy, People, but I could think of a few songs I would rather have instead. I’m sure there will be a lot of haters, but that’s typical with every dlc. On another note, I really like Uberlin.

    3. Good thing how legendary they are has absolutely nothing to do with how good their music is. If popular opinion determined perceived value, then Twilight and Fifty Shades of Gray would be required reading in all lit classes.
