Rocksmith 2014 DLC 4/14/2015 – Thin Lizzy

Greeting Rocksmith fans!

This week, legendary Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy has finally arrived on Rocksmith, featuring three tracks from their 1976 album Jailbreak and their 1977 album Bad Reputation.

Well known for their twin lead guitar attacks, Lead guitarists will have a lot of fun with this pack, especially the first song on offer; The Boys are Back In Town. Anyone not familiar with this song should know that the guitar solo is harmonized on two guitars, so prepare to master an alternate lead arrangement if you want the full experience.

The second song, Jailbreak, is much lighter on solos, but is nevertheless going to be a blast to play with its brisk, catchy, easy-to-pick-up riff.

Bass guitarists are bound to have fun with this pack as well, as Phil Lynott was no slouch on bass. It goes without saying that the must-have bass song in the pack is the infectiously groovy and eternally underrated Dancing in the Moonlight (It’s Caught Me in Its Spotlight). Guitarists are bound to have fun with the challenging solo in this song as well!

Hope you don’t mind downtuning as 2/3 of these songs are in Eb Standard.

  1. Finally! Thin Lizzy is probably my favorite band, I was waiting for this forever. Boys wouldn’t have been my 1st, 2nd, or 80th pick, but I understand its inclusion. Dancing In The Moonlight was a great pick too. Keeping my fingers triple crossed for more, this band has one of the strongest discographies in rock, tons to choose from.

  2. So bummed that “The Boys Are Back in Town” and “Jailbreak” are in the Eb Standard tuning. Anything on the low E string in Eb Standard is an auto-miss as my low E string just doesn’t downtune that far very well.

I’m passing on what was otherwise an auto-buy pack. (Dancing in the Moonlight is OK, but not a singles purchase for me.)

  3. Boys r back and jailbreak r probably the only 2 songs anyone under the age of 40 know… Cmon ubisoft if ur gonna bring back old songs at least make them good…. How about some FOGHAT!!!… Slow ride!

  4. While not directly related, I imagine that some/most/all of the people visiting this page and commenting are fans of Thin Lizzy. If you get a chance, check out the “Black Star Riders.” Their first album came out in 2013 and their second just came out recently. The band is made up of the most recent Lizzy members. They wanted to make new records, and they chose not to use the name Thin Lizzy. I respect that!

  5. That Boys lead is a lot shreddier than I ever realized. What a blast to play. Never hurts to supplement my Eb standard library either. Good stuff. Thanks Rocksmith!

  6. Great pack! I will buy it as soon as I get my xbox fixed…sigh.

However, there is easily enough for a Pack 2. *crosses fingers*

    My ideal pack 2:

    Whiskey in the Jar
    Bad Reputation
    Cold Sweat

  7. I wasnt very familiar with dancing in the moonlight before I bought the pack, but what a great song! Would’ve preferred Cold sweat, bad reputation or emerald over Jailbreak but all in all this is a great pack for guitarists and bassists alike!

  8. To reflect previous posts: I’m getting this pack but would have rather seen Boys sidelined for Emerald. Boys is just waaaaaay overplayed for a band with such an awesome catalog. EMERALD!!!!

  9. Well, I’m happy because I love Thin Lizzy, but also a little disappointed that there is no ‘Emerald’ or ‘Whiskey’, I would have had either of those way before “dancing in the moonlight’, but still, I’m pretty happy to see one of my requests finally getting a pack. Let’s hope it does well enough for them to secure a second 3 pack for later in the year…

    1. I don’t think a 2nd pack will happen anytime soon, Rocksmith has done DLC for 4 years and in that time, 1 band has got a 2nd pack.

  10. Great song selection. Can’t wait to pick this up tomorrow. Guess I will have to learn cowboy song the old fashioned way.
