Rocksmith Live Stream hints at next DLC release

Greetings Rocksmith fans!

A rare occurrence today, as we received a hint before tomorrow’s puzzle from @DanAmrich!

On today’s Twitch.tv livestream, Dan Amrich more or less said this:

“Next week’s DLC is one that was highly requested, and from the Top 40 Most Requested Artists list”

Using our extensive knowledge of how music games work we can narrow that 40 artist list down to 15.

We just received our first repeat DLC, and having another one would just be too soon. So that rules out: Aerosmith, Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Green Day, Iron Maiden, KISS, Megadeth, MUSE, Rise Against, and System of a Down.

I don’t think we are going to get any of the mega artists on the list, because we’d definitely have a Press Release for anyone like: AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Eagles, Ozzy Osbourne.

Then we have the pretty much next to impossible to get artists like: The Beatles,  Eagles, Guns n’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Scorpions, Van Halen, and Tool.

So what are we left with?

Our guess is Rage Against The Machine but what do you think?

With only 4 weeks of Rocksmith 2014 DLC left you should start thinking about what your favourite DLC pack was for our end of the month wrap up! Don’t worry though you still have time as December 16th (Jimi Hendrix) will be the final DLC of 2014.

Check back tomorrow for the official clue!

  1. Please be queens of the Stone Age, please be queens of the Stone Age…

I’m genuinely amazed bullet for my valentine is a top 40 band. Meh.

    1. I have the CD’s, but it is a band I feel I have grown out of recently so I’m not super happy, I would have preferred Slayer, QOTSA or Dire Straits, but yeah, I’m still quite pleased.

      1. Bullet for my Valentine seems to be the general consensus in the thread right at the moment.

A band I know next to nothing about. Funny though – their branded tour bus drove past me around a year ago, and I remember thinking that’s a bit over the top for a band I’ve never really heard of. But, they’re in the most requested list, so I’m clearly missing out on something?

If it’s true, I’ll take a listen, but this week would probably be a skip for me.

  2. Shouldn’t Bon Jovi be included in difficult to license, considering that Paul directly said it, and the fact that their core songwriting duo are split up?

  3. Am I the only one surprised Motley Crue is in the top 40? I always thought they were pretty much the very worst of the hair metal bands. Someone, tell me which are their good songs? I’ll check them out on youtube. I’m totally mystified by their popularity, everything I’ve heard by them in the past has been truly terrible.

    1. someone just sent me a link to ‘kickstart my heart’, that was ok. Not terrible. ‘Girls girls girls’ and ‘smoking in the boys room’ and ‘Dr feelgood’, however, I have heard some of these before, I always thought they were joke songs by a parody band, like ‘big bottom’ by Spinal Tap. This must be an American thing, it would explain why I have never even met a fan of them. Sorry if I have annoyed anyone, I do know it’s just personal taste.

    2. They were a hair band that still retained a bit of bite to their character, meaning they had crossover appeal between glam rockers, a bit of quiet respect among some of the more heavy bands, and had soaring ballads like Home Sweet Home that charted really well.

      1. Just checked out ‘home sweet home’. Still amazed they are popular, but hey, so is miley cyrus so what do I know? This is one I have to accept I just don’t ‘get’.

  4. I really appreciate the game as well as this PR-service called riffrepeater. Really. But the only reason for letting us turn our minds for days around the top-40-wishlist without further real clues, is to let us fantasise about all that might come, even in years or never. Maybe we get one artist with some songs, some of them better, some less. Maybe we get 3 Artists of the list with 1 song each. But in the end there will be 37 to 39 artists we will not get soon, if it is such a big deal, that we get one or a few of them. This is a clever move. Letting all of us drool while feeding weekly dlc without touching the top 40 for months … (so I prefer the classical dlc-riddles … they are more focused and less manipulative)

      1. My point is, that he is wrong to say there are 37 to 39 artists we won’t get soon, as we already have 12 of them. is that clearer?

        1. “Letting all of us drool while feeding weekly dlc without touching the top 40 for months” – This is NOT what they have been doing. 12 artists from the top 40 prove that.

  5. Since slayer and anthrax seems to be confirmed, it’s obvious a thrash dlc. So it’s probably gonna be a three pack or maybe a four pack since they mentioned the big four. So Metallica could be in the dlc but it can only be death magnetic or all for justice, slayers probably gonna be raining blood, anthrax not really a fan and megadeth could be peace sells or holy wars. Or we could get other bands like exodus, testament, kreator, sodom( the solos are pretty cool and the riffs are epic) or overkill

  6. You referenced “next to impossible to get artists” Personally I’ve had my own list of artist whom we’ll never see on a game like this. (actually had Hendrix on that list, so I guess things can change.)

Led Zeppelin – They’ll give it up to P.Diddy and the Black Crowes, but for the fans—not a chance

Van Halen – Oooh these bitches…… don’t get me started

AC/DC – Like Hendrix, this could change. They did have a Rockband game.

The Beatles – Same thing, and considering there are only two left, it’s an easier battle to win.

Guns N Roses – Speaking of passing away, you know who in the group has to go first in order for their music to be more accessible. Let that one marinate.

Metallica – I think Napster scarred them for life.

Now that Hendrix is off that list, I’m adding a new one.

Fleetwood Mac – With all the line up changes sometimes I wonder if they were a big influence on EVH. Oh, there’s that nerve again. Don’t get me started.

Lastly EWF. Just throwing that curve again.

  7. I think it depends on if they are the kind to throw a curve ball at the fans or play it safe with something close to home.

If they’re playing it safe, I’d say Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, The Stones or Dire Straits. RS14 either already has songs (no song pack) by these groups or has quite a bit of music very similar to these artists.

If they’re going for shock and awe, with a risk of fan backlash for songs missed, the biggest shocker would be either Stevie Ray Vaughan or some sort of blues rock combo pack. There’s very little blues on RS14 and that would definitely satiate many of those who’ve made requests. On a different note, another shocker would be Slayer or Motley Crue.

If I were betting, my guess would be
    1) Red Hot Chili Peppers – with all those 9th chords and chord fragments, this would be a warm up for those awaiting the Jimi Hendrix pack (Again, SRV fits into this also)
    2) RATM – As we’re all wondering, how am I going to make those sounds on my guitar through this game system? They may have to include some new Lessons with this.

    1. I would guess it’s not them because they already have 3 tracks(Paint It Black, The Spider and The ??? and Satisfaction)

  8. I’ll take most of that list. However, I’d wager it’s Dire Straits. We got confirmation a few months back that they were coming by the end of the year, so unless Paul misspoke or something changed, it’s plausible.

I would go berserk if ZZ Top finally made their debut, though.

  9. since they ve took some artist that are in the presse last month a could put a bet on black sabbath or ozzy we heard him alot in press since one month and like SRV , RR as a unique kind of lead , like JH or EVH

  10. thats is why, theyve announced a big load of artist after the kind of change they make for next gen and the grudge that was starting we’re gonna get served until december ( ends ). i hope , and we deserved it.

they have a kind of pattern when releasing dlc so im pretty much looking for ( not that i want but i guess )

Bon Jovi – could be surprising but i dont think , but we do get 3 artist from over 90 ‘ with one covering 70-80 but could be qualified as a light one ( tom petty )
Bullet for My Valentine – we had killswitch engage instead of them…they re too young maybe in next year in febuary
Def Leppard – same reason as bon jovi , could but it dont look like
Dire Straits – this one is too check
Linkin Park – not my kind but we do had a lot ( i mean a lot of those same artist since summer so its gtonna be next year i guess )
Mötley Crüe – this one gotta get a look too
Nirvana – this one too is in my top 5 take a look if
Queens Of The Stone Age – i got a felling theyre coming soon for the 2nd pack maybe theyll be in the 10 first to get a second one but not them since they re too young
Rage Against The Machine – would have been fun , but we still had audioslave , and they give us some foo fighter again so i think theyre not gonna put it maybbe next year ( they did with sum41 and billy talent * back to back same genre )
Red Hot Chili Peppers – almost same argument same as RATM
The Rolling Stones ( i would kinda be deceive but they gotta please someone sometimes , i think by looking at last dlc we missed some lead track so i think there might be a lead guitarist for the next pack maybe next year too or near 25 december )
Slayer – this one may be given a look too
Slipknot – this one too same as slipnknot one of them is coming soon but my heart want something else but the reason tells me one of them is near
Stevie Ray Vaughan – We missed that kind of guitar F word badly , and i mean really that would be nice to have him then one month later the jimmy dlc s commin , life is a marketing monopoly game , i would bet that stevie might come
ZZ Top – next years nexzt the start of summer

we missed some lead works so im guessing you should look at those :

    Dire Straits
    Mötley Crüe
    Nirvana
    Rage Against The Machine
    Red Hot Chili Peppers
    Slayer
    Slipknot
    Stevie Ray Vaughan

or a surprised like i said it missed a lot of lead work maybe Randy Rhoads or Van Halen ‘s comin since we dont really get a guitarist of those years ( with jimmy h comming december if one of them is to i would believe theyre finally back to a guitar game

    my opinion ,

    1. Queens of the Stone Age have NEVER had a DLC pack, they have only had 1 song for DL, and that was My God is the Sun, and that came out with the original release of Rocksmith 2014. You are most likely thinking of Rock Band’s DLC.

  11. I’m just “Living on a prayer” that it will be Bon Jovi. On the other hand, I can see mass “Hysteria” in the forums if it is Def Leopard. Of choose, with all of the DLC issues on next Gen, some of us are in Dire Straights and feel like we gave Ubisoft our “Money for Nothing”. So, while most of us resist our urges to Rage Against The Machine, we cross our fingers and hope for “Winds of Change” to blow in our favor.

    1. “In the end” we might get Linkin Park instead of those and that would make hit “The Pot” with a specially designed Tool.

  12. It won’t be Bon Jovi
as I’ve asked about it and the reply was
that would be awesome! I loved playing Wanted (wan-teh-eh-ed!) Dead or Alive on Rock Band… Super hard to get tho :/

    1. Because it has been a while since a band known for having an awesome bass player has come out and they had a song on disc in the original Rocksmith.

  13. I’m thinking Slayer. As other people have pointed out, it was hinted that we would have 2 from the big 4. Anthrax isn’t on the list and metallica would get more of a build up. Slayers alright with me but I would love for it to be RATM

  14. It’s either Nirvana, Slayer, Def Leppard, or Linkin Park.

Based on the fact that the first two have been hinted at for a while, Def Lep keep being denied, and Linkin Park would fit in best with the tons of modern rock we’ve been seeing over the last 3 months.

    1. Going to have to go firm on ZZ Top now. After the weekly clue was posted it just makes too much sense. That’s my final prediction.

  15. Well, Paul did promise some late summer nirvana DLC, so I’m going with that or RATM.
As for myself I hope it’s Dire Straits or Mötley Crüe. 🙂

  16. Hoping for ZZ Top or Dire Straits. Rocksmith needs La Grange – but then again we also need Money for Nothing. 🙂

      1. Blackout
        Rock You Like a Hurricane
        Big City Nights
        The Zoo
        No One Like You
        Dynamite
        Can’t Live Without You

I am not a big ballad fan, but for ballad fans and German friends, I will throw in…

        Winds of Change

and Still Loving you. (Okay maybe I like some ballads too.)

  17. Didn’t Nao say we’d have DLC from someone in the big four by the end of the year? Judging by this, I’d say Slayer, although I’d by over the moon about Crue or Bon Jovi- Sambora is the most underrated guitar player of the 80’s.

  18. I think it’s probably that In Utero pack that was promised earlier this year but never happened. It would also continue the trend of bands Dave Grohl has been a member of.

  19. Hmm, that dire straits tweet…. ‘Not until much later in the year, working on an amazing winter line up’.
Could this be it?! I’d love some straits. I think Daniel could well be right.

  20. Dire Straits was confirmed a while ago to be coming before the end of the year, so while I would really like it to be RHCP, my money would be on Dire Straits.

  21. I hope it is not a repeat, and I would not be too pleased with Motley crue or Linkin Park (personal taste I know), I would be quite pleased with Bullet, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, slipknot or ZZ Top, but any of the others I would be VERY happy with. So, fingers crossed, odds are quite good I’ll be at least pleased enough to buy and play them!
