@UbiParadise went on to confirm that it was a three song mixed pack including @btbamofficial’s Selkies: The Endless Obsession and two other 2000-era songs from two different genres.

This sounds like Dethklok, Which sounds like Cannibal Corpse, which sounded like Ministry which sounds like poop. I am so tough I can pretend to growl and bark…woof woof. I hope there is something decent in here. I got bored with this vocal style loooooong ago. Hopefully this will scratch an itch for all the ne’er do wells and hooligans and we can get back to some decent Muzak. I would have preferred some Ministry if I have to listen to distorted vocals or Archenemy…but oh well. At this point it is mostly gravy. I am pretty comfortable with my playlist.
If we get just one KoL song it would be bitterly disappointing. Temple, the Bucket, Sex On Fire, McFearless, Fans, Red Morning Light, PYRO, DAMMIT PYRO. I know they are not so big in the US but over here they are MASSIVE.
Although I can play them all on bass now anyway. Should thank you guys for that really.

While Between The Buried And Me isn’t my favorite group. This song still seems fun. Hopefully this leads to some Dream Theater or even some Human to The Sound Of Perseverance era Death in the future. One can dream. 🙂

I hope to see Black Tide in this pack. Not most known metal band of the 2000’s but Shockwave and Warriors of Time are really fun songs to play.

if the link above is the version we’re getting, Im in. Im no fan of growling either, but they only do it for one in a half minutes before the halfway mark. The last 3 minutes are excellent. That part reminds me of John Petrucci’s solo stuff.

Great. So I hope when they say, “two different genres” they actually mean TWO DIFFERENT as opposed to two similar but slightly different genres.
Below are examples of what should be considered “different” genres within a pack.
Examples:
Cliffs of Rock City or Eastwood by Brad Paisley
Who Did You Think I Was – John Mayer Trio
or
Crazy Dream – Los Lonely Boys
Ready or Not – Morgan Heritage
or
Green Light Girl -Doyle Bramhall
Long Time Gone – Dixie Chicks
or
Trinity – Santana featuring Robert Randolph and Kirk Hammett
Hard to Concentrate – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Those are different. Even last week’s 4th of July pack had different genres That was a good variety. Come at us like that again.
You don’t think the Variety Packs had Variety?
For the most part, they’ve done well. Variety Pack I didn’t seem to have songs that were all that different from one another. When comparing the 90s Mix pack and the 90s Rock pack, there seems to be a lot of similarity there, and the majority of what’s been released this year, has not move far from a relatively similar feel.
Don’t get me wrong, in nearly all of those packs I’ve found songs that I truly like. It’s just a bit annoying at times to find out we’re getting a variety, yet there are so many genre’s that have little to no representation.
True, some of the genres I listed have slightly been addressed in our DLC. I guess my issue is, lets go there more often. Or, lets have a wider range. I love the blues. We’ve had a few songs, no much, so I won’t argue over that. I love modern and classic rock. That has been represented very well. I respect country and am happy to see Ubisoft moving more in that direction. I think maybe I’m either too focused on the word Variety, or expecting too much.
When I see that word, “Variety”, I see the roots reggae of Morgan Heritage, Bob Marley, and Black Uhuru, next to the country of Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, and Alabama, next to the funk of George Clinton, Average White Band, and Cameo, next to jazz by Fourplay, George Benson, and Wes Montgomery, with some old school blues, by Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and maybe even early Fleetwood Mac. I see modern pop by Ed Sheeran (not a fan), Marc Ronson, and John Mayer, next to old school pop like Michael Jackson, The Outfield, and Duran Duran.(yes I know we have them already). What about the Isley Brothers, some Hawai’ian music, or flamenco?
And I didn’t even get into Stetsanonic, The Roots, and Dr. Dre. I know it is sample heavy, but even Young MC’s bust a move would work.
I know Ubisoft is working hard to get music to us and I say thank you to them. This is a game that happens to be a fun teaching tool. Sometimes though, it just seems like the DLC remains too close to home far too often.
If you are going to go there, quit P-footin’ around and go there. Perfect example, they took a risk with the soundtracks this year. Didn’t care for the pack but I respect the effort.
John Mayer would be a great inclusion… he’s got so many 00’s hits that are guitar driven. and that’s rare in the new millennium.
I love Dream Theater & Cookie Monster is the bomb.

I love Cookie Monsters earlier work, when he was with with Sesame Street. Back then it was all about the cookie, and I could dig that.
His latest stuff, post rehab, is just too E(l)mo for my tastes. Now it’s more focussed on the cookie cutting than the actual cookie.

Yes, I do love metal (Slayer, Maiden, Soulfly, etc.).
There’s some cookie monster I’ll listen to, but I find it very funny that some folks make that their favorite (I have a good friend that does and I don’t understand why he likes it so much).
