Well, it’s not Freewill, but there’s always DLC! Also, it has to be pointed out that this will be the first game to have the non-live version of Spirit of Radio!

Are you happy about the song choices for Rush and Deftones? Let us know!

  1. Who are these idiots saying deftones are bad or diamond eyes is the only good or known song? To much heavy stuff? Ever play guitar? Listen to rock music? Been a retard living under a rock last 20 years? Experience deliverance much? Great additions

    1. Eh … horses for courses I guess. I get what you’re saying though. I happen to think Gordon Lightfoot is the greatest unheralded musical prodigy of the 20th century, but who ever gives him the respect he’s earned?! Deftones and Gordon Lightfoot should do a joint track dedicated to all the haters!

Props on the Opeth vid! Just this week I was getting back into Blackwater Park again. Mind=Blown Great stuff.

  2. I am very excited for the game to release. I just saw a Q&A vid on YouTube; it has revealed a “Colorblind Mode” for players with certain types of colorblindness. I thought that was really cool, which gives more people the chance to play!

  3. Hi has anyone mentioned how the will import the songs from rocksmith to rocksmith 2014, I guess they may do the same as rockband and supply an export code to use on rocksmith 2014 ❓

    1. No, I was kind of curious about this myself. I am hoping that the songs will export to the hard disk (PS3) so we’re not doing some kind of nonsense swapping discs etc.

With less than one month to go, we don’t even have a complete set list yet and they must have gone to press by now…

    2. My sincere hope is that this functionality gets implemented unilaterally and simultaneously across all platforms. As a Steam user I’m worried that there may be additional hurdles to worry about, but maybe not …?

  4. Thanks again nullpointer valid points once again. I think like most people we would like our own personal soundtrack. And its not fair to point and blame ubisoft, as to please everyone is impossible. I think the overall improvements to rocksmith is something to look forward to especially mew improved menus which is my biggest bug bear with rs.

    1. Man, ain’t that the truth (regarding the menus)! That change can’t come soon enough. The other change that will be epic from my perspective is the better integration of Riff Repeater functionality. Hopefully I’ll be able to finally tackle some of the more difficult tracks from the original RS (I’m looking at you Rush …)! 😛

  5. Nullpointer brings a good point. Firstly new players r going to feel very daunted on alot of the tracks. For me i have only been playing on and off for a year or so. And im no where near ready to tackle these.
secondly i hadnt heard of most of these tracks, i would of thought more mainstream music would bring more punters in.
more icons like acdc, eric clapton, mark knoffler/dire straits, zz top etc yea i know these can be technical as well but we know and love these artists, so that in itself gives us the push to “mimic” our idols.
and no james ill leave the hippie music as well, just a decent selection of music will do thankyou.

    1. Don’t take this the wrong way, I mean everybody’s entitled to their own opinion, but how can you say there isn’t enough mainstream and/or legends? With the announced on-disc artists and current DLC, we already have The Who, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Muse, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Boston, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Rush, The Clash, among many many others. If that isn’t an assortment of rock legends and/or mainstream songs, then I guess I just don’t know what is.

    2. I understand what you’re saying here, and I also think James has a point. If anything I think UbiSoft has been much more eclectic with their song selections for 2014. I do think classic rock is well represented (Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Dylan, the Who, The Kinks, etc) but they’ve shown that they were listening to the hordes of folks clamoring for Moar Metal(!). The nice part about this (at least for fans of metal), is that they’ve been very savvy about the inclusion of several genres and eras of Metal. You have NWOBHM (Iron Maiden), Thrash (Slayer), Nu-Metal (ahem … Deftones), Stoner (Red Fang), and … Mastodon who represent a genre unto themselves (and who happen to be the greatest Metal band of all time). So even though the number of metal tracks is more prevalent in 2014 there is still a lot of variety to be had even within those selections. I also think this decision was in direct response to the fans, so you really can’t blame them too much. But back to the classic rock … I’d actually go so far as to say that the on-disc classic rock tracks included with 2014 are actually better and more diverse than those that were included on-disc with the original RS (a bold statement I know, but remember that I’m only talking about on-disc tracks).

  6. I’m pumped about the inclusion of Spirit of The Radio (I mean it’s not The Trees, but it’s still pretty good ). I feel like this time around UbiSoft is including a lot more challenging material right on disc, whereas before the uber-challenging tracks came in the form of DLC. I’m a bit on the fence about whether this is a solid plan in terms of encouraging new players, but overall I think the set list is fantastic. Can’t wait!

  7. Crap and errrrrr crap, dissapointed in most of the tracklist. I think im going to cancel my pre order
too much heavy crap for my liking. God damn u ubisoft.

    1. Guess you’ll have to wait for “Hippie Sitting Outside a Starbucks With an Acoustic Guitar, Busting Out John Mayer Tunes for Loose Change Smith” then.

  8. Well I don’t know Deftones, but SOR is my favourite Rush song. This is gonna be cool and challenging for both instruments. Pretty good news!
