Rocksmith 2014 DLC 8/2/2016 – Variety Song Pack III

Hello Rocksmith fans!

Our third dose of variety comes to us this week, and this time we’re getting some instrumental virtuoso guitar work, a hugely requested indie rock anthem, giants of progressive rock, and one of the greatest metal bands of all time. All in all, this looks to be one of the most complex guitar weeks in recent memory, so start stretching those fingers.

First up is the indie rock as The Fratellis bring their bouncy 2006 hit Chelsea Dagger. We may have mentioned before how much we wanted this song in the game…

Next, we have the return of a Rocksmith 2014 disc artist with Joe Satriani bringing his 1987 masterpiece Always with You, Always with Me to the game. If you’ve mastered Satch Boogie and are looking for more, then look no further!

Following that, we have another Rocksmith 2014 disc artist in the return of Pantera! They’re bringing their 1994 metal classic 5 Minutes Alone. Did you ever expect a Pantera single in a variety pack? I know I didn’t but tune your guitars to D Standard and be prepared to chug and shred with Dime.

Finally, it’s the long awaited return of Styx as the prog legends beef up the criminally under-represented genre with 1978’s Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)! This song is sure to give you a challenge that Renegade only even hinted at. We weren’t lying when we said this week was going to be tough!

  1. Nice job by Ellison on the play through of AWYAWM. Ive been working on it constantly since Tuesday. Blue Collar Man is fun as well. Great year of DLC’s for me. Keep up the great work.

  2. Awesome! Listening to Blue Collar Man on a day when I played hooky from school (ya, sorry) was the spark that got me to pick up an instrument in the first place. Well done, Rocksmith Team!

  3. Elliot, curious on a scale from 1-10 how difficult was the Joe Satriani song for you to play ?
I watched the YouTube video at Riffrepeater and was amazed at that playing !

    1. OK I’m not going to lie, I’m genuinely curious. You ARE just trying to be annoying right? You don’t actually think anyone’s dumb enough to take you seriously enough to actually be insulted, right?

    2. Got to admit, he gets the most responses of anyone on this board. If that’s his goal, everyone’s feeding into it.

      Scoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. “Chelsea Dagger’s” my favorite here with Styx number too. The Satriani is nice. I’m not into metal but Pantera is okay I guess. I’m in for the whole hog.

  5. I feel a blue collar man can spend 5 minutes alone hitting on Chelsea dagger, letting her know he'll do everything always with me, always with you xD

  6. Fucking Blackhawks ruined that song. Had to suffer Hawks Flyers Stanley Cup series. Dicks.

    Solid pack though….

  7. More Satriani is always a good thing! Been wanting to learn this song forever!

You guys should request more Satch and some Steve Vai if you enjoy the challenging instrumental stuff! I already have and will continue to do so!

  8. Not a huge Pantera fan, But 5 Minutes Alone has always been a favorite of mine so that’s all i’ll be getting. Enjoy all! 🙂

  9. Chelsea Dagger is definitely the weakest link on this pack, but it still has something to it.
Rest of the pack is sick!

  10. I love all these picks except Chelsea dagger, I swear that garbage was written specifically to be used in cell phone commercials. I am glad to see more pantera but I would have preferred a more epic song like floods.

    1. I never knew it was an actual song until now, I thought it was just a terrible song written for the advert it was played to death on. It’s one of those songs I despise so much I wish I could set it on fire. but other people seem to like it so what do i know.

      1. Funny, I never saw the adverts it was supposedly written for. I only ever heard it on Pandora, which is what got me to request it on RS. Guess it must be too much time spent playing guitar instead of watching shit TV.

  11. I'm not crazy about the song but I think would awesome if we could play guitar & bass and watch that video at the same time I would love to learn to play that song then 🙂 lots of eye candy in the video 🙂

  12. AMAZING!!! Every single band in this pack… Pure Gold! All bands that needed more representation in Rocksmith (or a debut in case of The Fratellis[ it’s about time]). And a great pack for Guitarists and Bassists alike. Without a doubt the best pack of the summer so far.
