You shall all be visited by three spirits this night………..

I urge you all to not let the chains of musical close mindedness and negativity that are forged in life weigh you down in death as I have. Now I am cursed to forever roam the world looking for a pearl jam concert that I may never find. Ooooooooo OoooooOooooooooooOooooo OooooooooOOOOOO

Would have been an instabuy, but censored lyrics means a skip for me :/

Dude, the game teaches you how to play the songs not sing them. I’m usually more focussed on trying to make my part sound good than worrying about what the vocal track is doing. I would boycott a radio station for censoring music but I wouldn’t deprive myself of learning how to play songs I like over it.

This is probably my favorite pack of this year next to Pixies, Rush and Collective Soul

Ill pick em up, im typically a warning and below kinda guy but its better then no green day. Im just glad these tracks are out of the way so future packs can focus on deeper cuts. only big big single that im luke warm about that has not been released is holiday/boulavard , and if it comes as one dlc track id be super enthusiastic . Overall fantastic year , hoping for some song pack 2s from soad, spumpkins , achains, sublime , deftones and blink which I think has a pretty good chance happening this year . Always on back flip stand by for nirvana , stones , a cooper and rhcpeppers and pearl jam packs. Some single like “the middle ” ´ “face down” “plowed” or maggot brain would great . Some other bigger named new artists i think might be added this year are slipknot, korn ,Manson, the used, alanis morrsette, blue traveler , machinehead, kid rock, simple plan ,pod , mudvayne , dead Kennedy , Limp bizkit, and joy division . 2017 should be great, rocksmith 5 more years!

To quote Funkentelechy by Parliament -- “oooh there he go again.” And another one “Go Maggot Brain.”

Longview is the song that started it all and made me a fan so I’m excited especially for the bass line. This pack is sort of funny considering that most Green Day songs are uptempo and most of these songs are more mid tempo alt rock

Sorry, I can’t let this go. That line, “enjoy a little holiday sneer” in this month’s news letter was far too misleading. Between that and the “Green” comment, i thought for sure “Holiday” would have been a part of this Green Day pack.

As a GD fan, this is a pretty disappointing pack of songs. I play bass and guitar, so I was really looking forward to some fun songs to play on bass since Mike Dirnt is a badass. Longview is really the only interesting song on here. I don’t know why Ubisoft keeps neglecting old GD. Out of 9 songs, only 3 are pre-American Idiot. So many missed opportunities here.

Just give us the entire dookie album ( id also buy a full warning one)

Appreciate the continued DLC for this product but this pack was a dissappointment at the level of the “Aerosmith pack”.
I’m sure many of us expected the omissions of the first pack ; “When I Come Around”, “Minority”, “Holiday”, “Warning”, and “Brain Stew”.
Such a missed opportunity…

Most definitely agree.

Wow, they really fucked it up :/ Longview is the only good song and it barely has a guitar part

Was tempted to vote “Wake Me Up When December Ends” just for the pun… good job!

Definitely taking this pack, great selection in my opinion. 🙂

Was hoping for more punkish songs maybe even pre-dookie era, but ubi goes safe with their hits. But I’m still bought bang bang. Didn’t hear it before, and glad that gd get back to more punk then pop

Well, thanks for “Longview” anyway. I’m going to have a super hard time choosing between the excellent Rush and Yes packs as this year’s “pack of the year”.

I’ll still get the pack, but having 21 Guns and Wake Me Up When September Ends before so many of their better songs is definitely a letdown. Here’s hoping it’s less than 3 more years until pack 3.

Not the songs I would have picked, might pick this up when it goes on sale next year, but that’s normal for me.

We got some good packs this year, so I’m looking forward to the packs of the year voting. My picks would be Megadeth 2 and Rush 2.

While this isn’t my dream Green Day pack, its still a VERY solid selection of songs and I’m picking it up day 1.
2016 brought some fantastic dlc and I couldn’t be happier, though it definitely makes it harder to pick my favorite pack of the year!

Well, at least now we know why Ubisoft dropped that new patch recently--preparing to show some love for the acoustic side of things.

I’m a little disappointed in the pack as I’d hoped to see either Holiday, Minority, or Geek Stink Breath. On the flip side, they did a good job of spreading the DLC across Green Day’s history. Adding a recent release to that is quite impressive—most impressive. (<-- sorry, tis the season--SW season that is)

Definitely like the pack, and will buy it. Probably will play it sparingly as I continue to work on that SRV pack.

It’s just a shame that when love is shown to the acoustic guitar side of things with certain dlc choices it has to come at the cost of showing zero love to the electric bass side of things.

You’re right, however; this is an ongoing battle. While the bass does not get as much love in Rocksmith as it should, there are genres that are also sorely underappreciated in Rocksmith. To kill 2 with one stone, many of those genres typically shine a greater light on the bass.

Reggae, Hip Hop (not just rap, but Hip Hop), Funk, Classic Blues, Gospel, and Jazz.

At best guess 90% of the DLC this year was uninteresting to me, however; I will applaud Ubisoft for turning around a major complaint I had up until Summer--very few changes in variety. I’m not a Rush fan, but I took that as a change in variety. James Brown, Brooks N Dunn, and SRV were all nice changes, and that Anniversary Pack was a big step in the right direction.

I think those “bass moments” will come, but I’d expect them, just like those genres listed above, to be few and far between.

It seems like the selections for this Green Day pack may have been Ubisoft’s way of testing the waters with the new RS patch. If users applaud playing a major band like Green Day unplugged, I’m guessing we’ll see more packs like this in the future. Maybe even an all unplugged pack. Example:

STP -- Plush (unplugged)
TBK -- She Talks to Angels (unplugged)
Tuff Gong -- Song of Freedom (Hey Ubisoft his birthday is coming up again--hint hint)
GnR -- Patience

(yeah, I know. There’s going to be some comments on that last one.)

Dude, I’m all for variety (and I believe it can be had without excluding anyone) and I’m not looking for any “bass moments” that I know probably aren’t coming anyway. I’m not complaining because I haven’t received any non-stop sixteenth note light funk dlc (that probably only has a pinch of rhythm guitar in it), nor do i expect any. All I’m asking is that , whatever genre it may be, the songs have actual bass in them (yes, I’d rather they have a lot bass in them but I’m okay with just a little as long as its some and its real bass). Most rock music has bass in it, it shouldn’t be a problem. You almost have to go out of your way to find songs without it. I’ll say it again…how often do we get Fleetwood Mac dlc? Then we do but’s a song without McVie on bass. The bands named after the rhythm section man, not cool. Now 20% of the GD pack is without Dirnt on bass. I know the number of people who only play bass is small but we do exsist so please stop doing this to us. With so few dlc spots available… Please fill them with songs that feature ALL of your customers instruments Ubisoft.

Well stated and I agree on all points.

Side note and question: We still haven’t seen any music from Prince. Would it be a slap in the face, once again, if Ubisoft did a pack and included When Doves Cry and Kiss?

Wisenheimer

Again, given all the great Prince music that does contain bass and the extremely limited number of dlc spots available.. Yes, to me it would. I love those two songs. I wore out 2 purple rain cassettes in my Walkman back in the 80’s. Rocksmith is not about the songs that I want to listen to. It’s about the songs that I want to play and I only play the bass. Rocksmith only supports two instruments, guitar and bass. Is only being offered dlc that contains both really that big an ask? Especially if it prevents 15% of your customers (my guesstimate) from feeling left out in the cold. Please??? Lol

Oh…also.. While I really do appreciate Ubisoft at least giving us the faux charts instead of nothing like they used to (even at six and a half cents per note), if they were to release those two songs I would hope that they would respect his decision to omit the bass and not offer any bass tracks for them. And if they were part of a 12 pack I wouldn’t mind as much. Lol

Wow, Prince gets the big 12 pack. Nice touch. I think Hendrix is the only one with that so far. Let me preface this next part by saying, I’m still happy we have Green Day. It’s just not the way I personally would have done the pack. Additionally, I wonder how much say so the artist and the record label had in selecting the songs. (Pretty sure that’s a big factor as well.) I think where this pack fails, as I’m seeing from many of the other posts here, is that the essentials are missing. And those feature both bass and lead. If we were guaranteed a Green Day pack every month, or even just a larger pack (8 – 12 songs), I could understand having all three (12 Guns, Good Riddance, and Wake Me Up…..) in the pack. If the essentials like the faster paced songs were included, I’m guessing these acoustic tracks would have been better received. I like all of these songs, however; when we have so little Green Day, these aren’t the first that I’d pick. It’s the equivalent of saying, if we finally got a Van Halen pack and the first songs picked were Tattoo, From Afar, Déjà vu, and Secrets— or from Parliament we get P-Funk, Chocolate City, and Mr. Wiggles. They are all great songs, but should come well after the essentials. As a big Santana fan, I’m not all that thrilled that Smooth took up one of the slots in the DLC. I like the song, but I’d choose something else. Just so happens Smooth is an essential song, so it had to be on the list. Not sure why so many essentials are missing for a lot of the artists we receive. (Motown, Def Leppard, Heart, James Brown, Tom Petty) Probably… Read more »

The irony is, bass gets more love than Rhythm. At least most songs have a bass chart, there are dozens of songs with no rhythm chart at all. Look at this site, a great site to preview the upcoming packs but all you see is the Lead and Bass, never Rhythm. Try to find rhythm on YouTube, its sparse. So while your protests are all well and good remember others have it a bit worse.

Thanks, I will give it a look.

Its funny how bass enthusiasts talk about needing more love when rhythm is so neglected in this game. When you go to the rocksmith forum there are always contests or challenges for lead and bass, never rhythm.

Its pretty rare that conversations even take place about rhythm, and its what I actually love playing. I think the rhythm guitarist probably gets the least love of any musician in a band.

Hmm….well, I certainly want all rhythm section players to receive their fair share of the love but let me ask you this; how many alternate rhythm guitar bonus arrangements are there? For Bass there are seven…… Lol
