Song Speculation: Rocksmith celebrates the reunion of The Misfits

Hello Rocksmith fans!

For the first time ever in a music game, @TheMisfits will get the pack they deserve!

Let’s check out this week’s clue courtesy of RollingStone222

The worst line of dialogue in serial history.

cdeamonk, allow me…

Yup, @TheMisfits are coming to Rocksmith, and it’s a four pack with their 1981 single, Halloween!

RollingStone222 explains the clue here.

Misfits are an American horror punk band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery.

Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey the original lineup consisted of singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martínez. Danzig and Only were the only consistent members throughout the next six years. During this time they released several EPs and singles, and with Only’s brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement.

Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then the eponymous Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group’s dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. This incarnation of Misfits had a sound much more rooted in heavy metal, and released the albums American Psycho (1997) and Famous Monsters (1999) before dissolving in 2000. Jerry Only then took over lead vocals and recruited former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a Misfits 25th Anniversary tour.

In September 2016, for the first time in 33 years, Danzig, Only and Doyle reunited for two headlining shows at the Riot Fest, along with original Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo.

Now, that you know why this is sort of a big deal you should also know they’ve only had one song in a music game ever, and that would be Astro Zombies as a Guitar Hero 5 DLC in October 2009.

What other songs could be joining this four pack?

The below is speculation

I’d say that’s a pretty sure thing to be appear next week

This is more of a wish list pick than a sure thing as this is one of my favourite Misfits songs.

Whoa oh oh

It’s just evil all of the time

Are you excited for this addition to the Rocksmith library? Or is Horror Punk a bit too simplistic for your advanced skill? Let us know!

Was I a little too hopeful for Last Caress and Hybrid Moments to show up on a T rated game, you could at least give me We are 138 that doesn’t have any cussing. But I’ll buy it. As long as its Danzig vocals

Going to Riot Fest just to see them on Sunday. Been waiting for almost 25 years (I was 4 when they played their last show in 1983) and got into them around 1993. This is awesome!

I love punk music but at some point I feel like getting another punk pack just doesn’t add much to the rocksmith experience. I rather get a second clash pack or even another green day pack.

September 16, 2016 5:00 pm

Yay, more punk rock. -_-

To be fair it’s a different type of punk rock, the closest we have to Misfits is AFI’s Totalimmortal
