The official Rocksmith 2014 setlist and export details announced

812LUGxtqGL._SL1500_

Ladies and gentlemen! The time has come for the announcement of the complete Rocksmith 2014 setlist! Technically we knew about it all yesterday, but official confirmation is always nice. That’s not all, though! We also got some word on an export from the original Rocksmith from egmnow.com, where they said:

Players already owning the previous version of Rocksmith (released in 2011) will be able to further enjoy their rock experience in Rocksmith 2014 Edition by importing the songs that were included in the first version (an extra cost will apply). Each song from the first version has been revamped to support all of the new features including Automatic Tone Switching, Articulation, Timing and Instant Riff Repeater. Additionally, the DLC bought for Rocksmith will be compatible with Rocksmith 2014 Edition at no extra cost.

You can read the whole article here.

Now, it seems a bit unbelievable that 100% of the setlist will export, but nothing is impossible! We’ve heard before, however, that there will be 7 songs that don’t export.

The other thing of note is that, just like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, the export from Rocksmith 2011 will NOT be free.

Check out the complete Rocksmith 2014 setlist below. It’s definitely amazing!

What do you think of the complete setlist? What songs do you think won’t make it to the export? Tell us in the comments!

Yes definately! Unfortunately it’s unlikely -- somebody should give Waters or Gilmour a wake-up call.

Forgive me father for I have sinned. After at least 2 years without playing guitar on guitar hero, I’ve given in to temptation the past few months. I think it’s because I’m so dam anxious for RS 2014 I needed to fill the void. Can’t wait to get off work Tuesday so I can go get my preorder at gamescom.

Don’t forget Elliott, that was 7 songs at the time of the fan event. Anything can happen in a month.

That announcement might be a little misleading. There are no actual details to go off.

Yup, nothing 100% concrete as of yet.

Got it on pre-order from steam -- I can hardly wait!

Wasn’t “Eight Ball, Coroner’s Pocket” by Hail the Sun also confirmed? Perhaps there are more bonus songs from Rocksmith staff that didn’t make the official set list?

Confirmed: “Hail The Sun” will be in Rocksmith 2014

Do we deserve the 2nd version for free because the first wasn’t perfect? No. Nothing is perfect when it has never been done before. It’s hard work to create from scratch without reference to anything prior. They did their best job at the time.

I want to support this team for their decision to completely restart from scratch to address customer feedback. Not too many companies are so responsive to criticism and are so honest that their first attempt was just that.

I know money is an issue for a lot of people so that’s why they are focusing on which songs are on the disk. But… does it really matter? With weekly DLC in the future, there will plenty of options to choose from. You’re not stuck with only what’s on the disk.

The fact that they are even upgrading the original songs and allowing them to be played in the new interface is unusual. Consider what would happen if they didn’t charge for importing the RS2011 songs. Everyone who hadn’t purchased RS2011 would “borrow” their friend’s copy and import all the songs. Opps! How did that get there? The extra fee will help offset that and compensate the artists and other owners. The owners licensed their songs specifically for the first version. We don’t own a song just because we have heard it before, bought a CD, or downloaded it in iTunes.

Plus, there was extra work done to map and “upgrade” each song with the new techniques so it’s not going to be an “import” the note tracking information from the old disk as much as a “verify” the previous Rocksmith and grab the audio files from the disk which are matched up with the upgraded note information.

I completely agree. Nor do I think that $3.00 is at all an exorbitant fee for DLC as some have complained. Three bucks is the price of a latte you drink once and it’s gone. It’s incredible that you get a dynamic bass and guitar lesson *forever* for the same price.

I am curious how this will work for me; I’m running the Windows version in a Boot Camp partition on my Mac. I will be installing the Mac version, and hope to get my RS1 and DLC songs to it. Steam CS has not been all that helpful in getting an answer.

Hmm. Not sure about PC->Mac transfer. I assume if you bought the game and songs through Steam that it would recognize that you had purchased the previous version and the associated songs. The song files are going to be platform neutral so I don’t imagine that part is going to be a problem. They had to have considered someone wanting to import files from PC to Mac.

Elliott

Bingo, Steam is the platform for both PC/Mac.

if this is just careless wispers, apologies.

Elliott

You aren’t paying for the DLC you are paying for the updated charts from the first game, as in the on disc songs…

do you know what, on the grand scheme of things, the set list aint so bad. the playability, as promised is going to be 100% times better anyways. ( which in itself speaks volumes) and is going to make, im sure a better learning experience for me. ( no more dodgy menu system for starters).
roll uk/eu release date amazon pre-order date 25/10/2013.
thankyou ubisoft.

Charging anything to import RS1 songs into RS2014 is a bad move, imho. We are all going to pay, and they know it, but still πŸ˜₯

I could be wrong about this -- and please, somebody who knows feel free to chime in -- but it could be that they are not allowed to do it for free. The example I would use is that when one of the NASCAR games came out (I can’t remember if it was this year’s or last year’s) they had an update about six months after release that would change all the cars to that year’s paint schemes as opposed to the previous year’s, as most of those NASCAR games always seem to ship with for some reason. The developer wanted to offer the update for free, and in fact even advertised it as being free when the game first came out, but Microsoft told them they HAD to charge for it. I think they only charged a buck or two, but the fact was that Microsoft themselves would not allow it to be free.

Could be apples and oranges here, I’m not “in the industry” but something tells me Ubisoft isn’t just pocketing that ten bucks for themselves either.

Plus, the Dev’s and Notetrackers need to get paid for upgrading all of the songs for the new Game software (New techniques, bends, chuckas and so forth) and I’m sure the artists and/or labels want their cut for the upgraded songs.

So I don’t mind forking out another $5 to $10 on both PC & Xbox to have everything in one library instead of bouncing back and forth.

I did it time and time again for RB / RB2 / RB3 /RB-Country / RB-This /RB-That and the ever elusive RB-And the other! hehe

I keep reading comments on sites such as this or on twitter about how wonderful this setlist has been shaping up to be. So perhaps I fall into the minority. There’s probably 10 to maybe 15 songs that I’m looking forward to. The others are really of no interest to me. I spent a good while youtubing all the artists/songs I wasn’t familiar with, and for the most part found them underwhelming. Surely as I actually play the game there will be another 5 or 10 that grow on me and become enjoyable.

So in the end I’ll probably utilize half the songs on this version. Much the same was true for the origional RS. And that’s fine by me. They’ll never be able to fully please everyone’s music tastes, so I’m not gonna moan and groan and beg for certain tracks. They’ve got a good mix that should offer a little something for everyone.

I was NOT expecting a charge though to import songs from the previous version. While I guess It makes sense that they want more $ for re-working the songs, it did catch me off guard. What does history tell us regarding other games that have charged to bring back old songs? Are we talking one dollar per song? 2? More? Or would it be a flat fee for all 50 songs? I’m sure I’ll pay … But not happy bout it.

Elliott
Admin

It will be no more than $10 for the import, I assure you.

I felt the same way about Rocksmith’s original set list and early DLC. 2 years, 400 hours, and 120 DLC songs later…

Snow

Yeah I maybe interested in 25 songs out of the 50 but I’m just happy they release a game like this, plus there is always the old DLC I haven’t bought yet and the new DLC to come

Mfw no Captain Beefheart, MBV, or Faust πŸ™
That being said, the setlist looks like it’d be fun on guitar. I know quite a few chicks that would love Everlong and Say It Ain’t So. PA will probably be fun as well.

Q: What do you think of the complete setlist?
A: I’m 50/50 on it as I’ve never heard of some of them nor care. BUT! As with Rock Band and Rocksmith 2011, I’ve learned to like some songs I never heard of.

Q: What songs do you think won’t make it to the export?
A: The ones I enjoy most, more than likely.

I normally would go with the Guitar bundle, but I have a Maestro exactly the same in white, but weighs a TON (Maple) so I’ll just go ahead with my Steam Pre-Purchase and Best Buy Pre-Order (for Xbox).

Can only hope Steam will do a Early Access for us πŸ™‚

Oh yeah, 6 days and counting! So, Friday I update my systems to Windows 8.1.

Get everything settled in with latest drivers all around. Get an Extra SSD for Steam stuff for zero wait and get new speakers set up all around.

Then Saturday (LOL) go into Deep sleep until Tuesday morning!

PPS…
On the Guitar Package, Top Left Side, it says 6 additional songs free for download.

I take it that it’s for the Guitar Bundle only? Any idea on the songs? Maybe the 1st 4 DLC’s and the 2 announced Free Songs?

Ok shutting up

Yes, that’s only for the guitar bundle. Rest of us will have to pay even more.

Those are only for the UK guitar bundle, and were announced here: https://www.theriffrepeater.com/another-rocksmith-2014s-setlist-reveal/ (I forget the HTML tag for inserting links with alternate text, sorry)

Not only for UK, I can see english, french, german, italian and spanish in the box, at least in amazon.es

Already pre-ordered the guitar bundle for PC (I have an Ibanez premium guitar and ESP bass already, but I wanted something with a fixed bridge)

And I have RS1 for PC and PS3 (USA imported so no dlc’s).

I’m fine with the “import tax” for the old version cause I understand all the work involved in the upgrade process and the re-licensing costs.

I can’t wait for the next week to destroy mi house at max volume 😈

Awesome. Simply awesome. Some people are gonna complain that this band or that band isn’t in there, but for me personally I couldn’t think of a better setlist if I tried.
