Guide: Importing Rocksmith 2011 to Rocksmith 2014 Remastered

Hello Rocksmith fans!

Did you know that you can get 52 songs on Rocksmith Remastered for under $20? Since 2013 we’ve had the option to import the setlist (minus five songs that couldn’t be re-licensed) from the original game into our current superior Remastered game!

The processes however vary across platforms (Xbox, Playstation, and Steam).

UPDATE:

On October 17th, 2021 the original Rocksmith was DELISTED. To our knowledge the import will still work if you are able to purchase RS1 physically for console or PC. Buying digitally through steam is no longer possible and most third party sellers are very overpriced.

You don’t need to own Rocksmith (2011) to play it’s DLC in Rocksmith 2014 🧠

Keep in mind this is for the ON DISC SETLIST. If you want to purchase any of the DLC from Rocksmith (140 songs available!) you can do so without ever owning the original Rocksmith game!

Let’s get the simple one out of the way…

Steam (PC/Mac)

First thing you want to do is buy Rocksmith (it often goes on sale these days). It’s a SteamPlay title so it doesn’t matter whether you have a PC or Mac – it’s the same steam key so any authorized reseller is fine!

Once it’s purchased there’s no need to install it (unless you really want to play Sunshine of your Love or Run Back to Your Side), in fact if you are on Mac OS you won’t be able to play Rocksmith 2011 at all, so having it purchased (and not installed) will be enough to complete the Import Tool procedure.

Navigate to the Rocksmith 2014 Steam Page and purchase Rocksmith 2014 Disc Import Tool

Once purchased the songs from the first game will appear in your Rocksmith Remastered Setlist!

Magic! ✨

If you are new to Rocksmith altogether, then with a sale you can get Rocksmith 2014/Remastered + RS1 + Import Tool for about $30! That’s 116 songs on your first day, not too bad right?

Xbox 360 No Longer Available

This one is a bit more complicated, You will need to have the achievement for completing the soundcheck in the original Rocksmith (basically you have to go through the introduction tutorial). If you don’t own the game for Xbox 360 it’s possible to find a trustworthy friend to sign into your Gamertag and get the achievement for you on their own Xbox 360.

Alright great, you got the achievement, now what?

  • Go into Rocksmith 2014 on your 360 and from the Main Menu go to Shop > Packs >
  • You should see Rocksmith Disc Import Pack under R.
  • Purchase it and proceed to rock out!

Xbox One No longer available

If you want the RS1 songs on your Xbox One and you’ve already had them on Xbox 360 all you’ll need to do is visit the in-game store on Rocksmith 2014 for Xbox One as per the Ubisoft Forums

XBOX ONE: Check the in-game Shop under the Packs menu. If you are eligible to download it, you should see Rocksmith Disc Import Pack under R. To be eligible for this download, you will need to have purchased the Disc Import Pack from within Rocksmith 2014 on Xbox 360.

Ubisoft Forums

Keep in mind, you MUST go through the IN-GAME STORE this will not show up on Xbox.com or on your Xbox Dashboard outside of Rocksmith 2014 Remastered.

Playstation 3

This is pretty much exactly like Xbox except for the fact you have to buy the Disc Export Access item from within Rocksmith.

You will need to have the Trophy for completing the soundcheck in the original Rocksmith attached to your PSN ID.

If you don’t own the game for Playstation 3 it’s possible to find a trustworthy friend to sign into your PSN ID and get the Trophy (basically they have to go through the introduction tutorial) for you on their own PS3.

Also, on PS3 the game is region locked which means your copy of Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 must both be from the same PSN store (example US)

Crispy Interface!

  • Go into Rocksmith 2014 on your Playstation 3 and from the Main Menu go to Shop > Packs >
  • You should see Rocksmith Disc Import Pack under R.

Purchase it and get ready to rock!

Playstation 4

If you want the RS1 songs on your Playstation 4 and you’ve already had them on Playstation 3 all you’ll need to do is visit the in-game store on Rocksmith 2014 for PS4 as per the Ubisoft Forums

PS4First you will need to have purchased the Disc Export Pack from within the original Rocksmith for PS3 or the Disc Import Pack from within Rocksmith 2014 on PS3. There is no way to access the RS1 content on the PS4 without first owning the RS1 content on PS3.

  1. I just bought the 2014 game for PS3… after I had the first game for a long time.

I could in fact buy the music exporter for the first game just now. But I don’t see the importer in the 2014 version.

Is there anything changed since the description above?

I also bought another pack with four songs for 9.99 Euros and it was purchased and downloaded correctly. Can anyone check if the import pack is still available? Or is there another way to import it to the PS3 library?

Just to be clear: I have both games for PS3 – no PS4 or PS5 involved!

    1. Just a quick update:
I got a refund for my purchase of the export pack. Seems the import for PS3/PS4/PS5 is also no longer possible.

Also all songs older than ten years are now getting removed from the store.

It seems the game is dying step by step.

  2. Does this still work for Xbox 360? I have the original on disc as well as the 2014 one. When I go to the store it says I’m eligible but comes as error when trying to download. Help!

  3. I just wanna say on Xbox 360, the import songs option still appears for me (bought the original 2nd hand)…
It is the 1st edition (no bass) so the option to buy the “bass” lines appears at around 7USD…
Then i put the 2014 disc, and it offered the import, also at 7 bucks (i aint in the US, so I dont know if this is exactly the pricing there)

    Cheers!

  4. For PS5:

    1. go through the PS3 export process above
    2. find Rocksmith 2014 on your game menu
    3. press the ‘options’ button on your controller (top right – three horizontal lines).
    4. scroll down and select ‘manage content’ – you’ll find the RS1 content for download there
    5. Select it and download 🙂

  5. for anyone else having the same problem as me, after buying the disk import pack in PS3 store but can not download it with PS4 stupid ubisoft shop go to:

PS4 > Library > Rocksmith 2014 > select the “Playstation store icon” in the left panel > select “Your Add-ons” > Download already purchased add on > have fun!

  6. I have the RS1 & RS2014 on my PS3 (I’m in the US). I’ve purchased the Export Pack on the RS1 (yes, I have numerous trophies on RS1 including the Intro trophy).

When i started RS14, I answered YES & it said I was eligible to import songs from RS1 & took me to the Store. When I navigate to the Rocksmith Import Pack for 2014 either within the game shop or through the PS store/Add-Ins, it’s asking me to purchase for $9.99, even though I’ve already purchased the Export Pack for $9.99. I honestly don’t have a problem purchasing again for $9.99 but it shows 0 songs so I’m not confident that purchasing it is going to give me the 50 or so songs from RS1.
