Rocksmith Remastered DLC 10/10/2017 – 2000s Mix III

Hello Rocksmith fans!

This week is the third incarnation of the 2000s Mix Pack!

Three new artists to Rocksmith Remastered this week including the already revealed @BandOfHorses with their 2006 single The Funeral (Everything All the Time), @Kelly_Clarkson with the Avril Lavigne assisted 2004 pop song, Breakway, and as revealed today by Xbox AU @Hinder’s 2006 mega hit, Lips of an Angel (Extreme Behavior).

How’s that for some variety?

2000s Mix III – $7.99 / Steam

That @BandOfHorses song could be quite complex

What do you think of this round of 2000s hits? What do you think of Kelly Clarkson in your Rocksmith Library? Let us know!

There is no way in Hell that I would ever buy a Kelly Clarkson song. Not for all the pounds on her once tiny frame. Pass.

Update: These Hinder guys look like a bunch of poofs trying too hard to be edgy. I hate to ever crap on a DLC pack, but wow, this one is really missing the mark. I may get the Band of Horses song because it’s interesting, but that’s it.

Aye, I question why the people at Rocksmith would go to such time and effort as to license Kelly Clarkson and Hinder. Seriously, how many people do they think will by this? It seems to miss every mark on their checklist. The only thing to learn from it is how to never use a guitar or how to not to write a song, few people seem excited about it, which means few will by it.

Sadly, I have to agree with you here. For the most part, there has been very little to like with the 2000s packs. I’d like to think that it’s because I’m just old and out of touch, but there are plenty of bands from the last near two decades that I genuinely enjoy. The inclusion of Kelly Clarkson is just odd to me, but who knows, maybe there are people who will be very happy to have the song and I’m certainly ok with that. It’s just not for me.

I guess my next question would be “why do they want it?” Although in Rock Band’s case, there is a wider appeal since we’re only talking about plastic instruments and it can be more of a party game.

….got to agree with you. Based on previous history, at the initial mention of any 2000s pack I’m prepared to be underwhelmed. I still check in just to see what it is. (Rocksmith has introduced some new music to me.) Even with that, my first though is usually, I’ll be skipping this week.

I wouldn’t say age is the thing as there are bands and songs that I hope for, every time a 2Ks pack is mentioned.

Brad Paisley
John Mayer
Los Lonely Boys (Crazy Dream, Never Met A Woman, or anything of the 1st cd)

If we wanted to make it an age thing, that’s fine. Raphael Saadiq had a great throwback CD to 60s soul--The Way I See It.

With the 80s and 2000s packs I’m always curious how they come up with the selections. Don’t seem to have that concern with the other decades.

Wow, no offense, but I would pass on all three of those artists as well. For 2000s bands, I would love Coheed and Cambria above all others, and I know Ubisoft has approached them. Other bands of a similar sound would be cool also. I might consider someone like Brad Paisley based on the individual songs. My problem with John Mayer is that he just comes across as such a colossal douche that I don’t think I could get myself to buy anything from him.

None taken and understood. Up until The John Mayer Trio, I avoided him for the exact same reasons. I love the blues and blues rock so it was hard to let go of Try! and Continuum. Went back and listened to his first 2 and stopped there. Figured since I give a musical pass to EVH, whose asinine behavior toward band members and fans burns me up far worse than Mayer, I could give a pass to John.

Took me a while to get into Paisley as I’m not a huge country fan. He has good fun music. (Camouflage, I’ll Take You Back, Cliffs of Rock City, Eastwood).

Hope you get your wish and they step it up on these 2Ks packs.

I have to be honest, I watched the RS video of all three songs and Clarkson’s looked like it might be the best of the three in terms of playability. I just don’t care for it, so I didn’t buy it.

While I already purchase one of this DLC, it’s not showing up on my Rocksmith library! I lived in the USA

No hate towards Kelly Clarkson, but, the song choice is just odd. “Behind these hazel eyes” would have been interesting. I don’t mind Rocksmith getting some of the ladies of pop mixed into the song list, but I’d be looking at Pink, Michelle Branch, Elle King, or even some Pat Benetar or Cyndi Lauper.

In previous years, I’d jump on the dogpile; however, 2017 is different. This has, so far, been the first year where I can say that at least once every month there has been DLC that I either purchased or simply liked. I’m not a Manson fan, but it must be noted that within a month, we went from Manson to the Monkees to Muddy Waters. Sprinkled around that was Alabama Shakes, Huey Lewis and last week the 4 Tops. In past years you’d have to dig deep, looking at the whole 12 months and maybe you’d find wide ranging variety like that.

So with that thought in mind, packs like this week’s offering don’t phase me. Breakaway is a good song--don’t want to play it though. The other 2….. meh. That’s just my tastes. Not going to trash the pack though. With the way things have gone this year, the bank account appreciates occasional weeks where we can pause the tape.

I’m waiting for GeorgeCarlinlives to crap on this pack so I can give him an up vote. I think this was the first non-metal pack that I’ve ever passed on. =

I’m surprised at how many people like the Band of Horses song when I don’t care for it at all. I’m all for different styles of music in the game, so not truly a complaint about the DLC. We all have different tastes, but that one just sounds like generic whining to me. Maybe I’m just old.

That corny Hinder song is, to me, much more interesting. And I don’t mind Kelly Clarkson. Different opinions are what makes life interesting! If you like ’em, buy ’em and play ’em.

Listen. I don’t know about anyone else, but I want more 80s and 90s. Give me all the New Wave. How about some edgy bands like NOFX or Anti-Flag (Okay, that’ll never happen, but some of their songs might clear the censors.)

It’s kind of odd that my favorite decade for music is the 00s, and I love a lot of the artist packs and variety pack songs from that decade, yet the 2000s mix packs have all been underwhelming for me. I eventually bought the first one (Thrash Unreal is nice), but I found the 2nd one to be a step down, and this is a step down from that.

Yeah I don’t know, I mean Bon Jovi is considered hard rock too. It’s just downtuned pop with heavy distortion.
