Hello Rocksmith fans!

Welcome to the first DLC Round-Up of 2018!

It’s been a great start to the year with Top 40 artists being delivered packs like @paramore (six pack), high requested songs from @GreenDay being delivered in their third song pack, neo-folk selections from @MumfordandSons, and finally some long awaited singles from the 1970s from @JethroTull @4GoldenEarring and Grand Funk Railroad!

What a fantastic month for bassists! Outside of the minimalist approach of Mumford and Sons every week had a challenging bass line to conquer!

Ain’t It Fun? Yes it is!

This sugary pop song delivers on the 4 string in a big way!

Gotta love that classic Mike Dirnt feel

Feel like playing a 9:08 Bass song? Green Day will make it happen!

It’s a great song with an approachable bass line. Kate seems to like it!

All three tracks in the 70s Mix III pack are worth checking out on bass, but we all know who the king is… Don’t feel bad if you can’t play it as well as Kevin here 😉

It wasn’t all just bass driven in January. Let’s see what Guitarists had on their plate…

This song has such a groove! It’s not that easy either…

Remember Artist in the Ambulance?

Want something a bit more laid back? After you can play Yellow!

We’ve waited a long time for this one

Simple, but effective

If you don’t mind the tuning this can be a great strumming exercise

Fancy some Banjo-tar? I don’t think the cat does…

Are you familiar with the wild shirtless vocals of Mark Farner?

Think this song has enough arrangements?

The Dutch sure know how to rock!

January definitely had some varied tunings, so many capos and custom tunings that @MumfordandSons needed their own table…

Arrangement E Standard Eb Standard Drop D C# Standard EADGBd# Eb Drop Db Capo
Lead 10 1 3 X 1 1 X
Rhythm 7 2 3 X X 1 1
Bass 9 1 1 4 X X X
Alt. Lead 3 X X X X X X
Alt. Rhythm 1 X X X X X 1

Mumford and Sons Tuning

Arrangement E Standard Capo Open D Open E Open Db/C# CACGCE EADGBD
Lead 1 E Std X X  1 Capo (1) X
Rhythm X X 1 X  X  X Capo (1)
Bass 3 X X X X X X
Alt. Lead X X X X X X X
Alt. Rhythm X X X  1 X X X

Even with all that varied tunings… E Standard still wins!

Which brings us to the question on everyone’s mind

See you next month!

  1. Trying to ease into this year as I got so much last year. Only purchased 2 songs this month, Holiday and Radar Love. I felt the Green Day III pack overall made up a bit for the II pack. The 70s pack (as good as it was) failed to deliver on the Funkadelic side. As a result, it lost a point. Advantage: Green Day.

  2. I’ve played Mumford and Son the least, so I can’t sincerely say that I got much out of practicing that pack yet– perhaps down the line? The other three packs ROCKED– my favorite is Paramour from this month. I thought it was the most fun to play! Green Day pack was great, but I am definitely more of a fan of the band before 9/11 (if that makes any sense)- so welcome to paradise got the most play from me. and that 70’s pack? i am even more sure of rocksmith’s future in the present! well done! this week will be time to give lady gaga a chance- looking forward to seeing what february brings!
