Opinion: 15 Rocksmith Artists in need of a second DLC pack

Dave Grohl

Hello once again Rocksmith fans!

With the release of the second Foo Fighters DLC pack, the possibility of other artists on Rockmsith getting repeat DLC packs is becoming more of a certainty. Because we thought the internet really needed more top 10 lists, here are fifteen artists on Rocksmith that already have a 3, 4, or 5-song pack we think are most in need of another.

#10: Boston

While the Boston 3-Pack we got this past March did include two of their bigger hits, (“Don’t Look Back” and “Foreplay/Long Time”) material from most of the Don’t Look Back album as well as anything from Third Stage and beyond is completely absent from Rocksmith. Considering Tom Scholz’s fondness for acoustic interplay, long, challenging guitar solos and complex, groovy, driving basslines, more Boston would be great for any guitarist or bass guitarist looking for a real challenge.

Necessary songs:
It’s Easy
Amanda
Rock & Roll Band
Hollyann
Something About You

#9: Pearl Jam

More of one of grunge’s biggest critical darlings would be a very welcome addition in Rocksmith. The DLC we have from them so far wasn’t originally a “pack,” but two singles released in February 2012 and the single “Alive” from January of the following year, all three of which were eventually bundled together in a discounted 3-pack.

Necessary songs:
Even Flow
Just Breathe
Yellow Ledbetter
Save You
Sirens

#8: The Clash

Punk rock fans must be clamoring for more classic 70’s-era punk by now, so why not more Clash? They certainly have more than enough hits to quantify another pack.

Necessary songs:
Rock The Casbah
White Riot
Tommy Gun
Death or Glory
I Fought The Law

#7:  Judas Priest

You may recall from my Legacy DLC review of the Judas Priest pack that, even though I am not much of a fan of heavy metal at all, Judas priest is a band I genuinely love, and is one of the very few metal bands I like to listen to on a regular basis. Since they have quite an extensive catalog ranging from hard rock to speed metal, more Judas Priest would be great for any guitarist.

Necessary songs:
Hell Bent For Leather
Electric Eye
Delivering The Goods
Turbo Lover
Bloodstone

#6: Oasis

I’ll be the first to admit, Oasis is probably my all-time favorite guilty pleasure band. Even though we’ve already gotten most of their biggest hits from their highly-acclaimed first two albums in the previous 5-pack, their lengthy discography is more than enough to fill another DLC pack.

Necessary songs:
Morning Glory
D’you Know What I Mean
Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Stand By Me
Lyla

#5: The Police

Undoubtedly, one of New-Wave’s most popular bands deserves a 5-pack, if only to have some more of Andy Summers’ challenging jazz guitar licks. We’ve already gotten a 3-pack and “Every Breath You Take” on the RS2014 disc, but they also have quite an extensive list of other hits.

Necessary Songs:
Walking On The Moon
Demolition Man
So Lonely
Don’t Stand So Close To Me
Can’t Stand Loosing You

#4: Rush

More Rush is never a bad thing, amirite? The last Rush pack was released in tandem with the single “Headlong Flight” off their latest album at the time, “Clockwork Angels,” so could we expect a pack plus a single again?

Necessary songs:
Fly By Night
2112
Freewill
Working Man
The Trees

#3: The Who

Despite the 5-pack we received last December containing some of their biggest hits, The Who have such a lengthy discography that they could more than easily have another 5-pack (or more!).

Necessary songs:
Won’t Get Fooled Again
Eminence Front
The Kids Are Alright
5:15
I Can’t Explain
I Can See For Miles

#2: Aerosmith

Aerosmith is one of my all-time favorite bands, and to say that they have quite a list of hits would be something of an understatement. While the first Aerosmith pack had 3 songs from their 70’s heyday as well as 2 songs off their 2012 album Music From Another Dimension!, I was a little disappointed that none of their 80’s comeback songs were included.

Necessary songs:
Love in an Elevator
Dude (Looks Like a Lady)
Janie’s Got a Gun
Eat The Rich
Crazy
Train Kept A-Rolling

#1: Queen

Undoubtedly, if any artist on Rocksmith deserves another DLC pack, it’s the mega-hit factory Queen. While the 5-pack we got from them in June 2012 did include quite a few of their bigger hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, none of their harder-rocking material from the 80’s made it in at all.

Necessary songs:
Princes of the Universe
I Want It All
Spread Your Wings
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
I Want To Break Free
Another One Bites The Dust
The Show Must Go On

Elliott’s Picks

#1 Radiohead

Oh, I’m sorry did you think eight songs was enough? Nope, it’s not. Radiohead fans want more! There are still fantastic Radiohead songs to add to Rocksmith. Songs from Hail To The Thief, The Bends, OK Computer, In Rainbows, and yes even Pablo Honey.

Necessary Songs:
Electioneering
2+2=5
There, There
Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Bones
Anyone Can Play Guitar
Planet Telex
Street Spirit (Fade Out)

#2 Weezer

Weezer was a band that probably should have been in the original Rocksmith but we had to wait for the next edition to get a song on disc (Say It Ain’t So) and a five pack devoid of anything from Pinkerton. While personally I lean heavily on the The Blue Album, there are many songs from different albums that could easily make up a second pack from the nerdy alt pop punk power whatever band.

Necessary Songs:

Only In Dreams
In The Garage
Perfect Situation
The Good Life
Why Bother
Dope Nose
El Scorcho
Surf Wax America

#3 Green Day

Green Day should have had a five pack, I think everyone would agree with that. Whether it was because of music licensing or a last minute disagreement with label and artist, four songs is not nearly enough. There’s way too many songs to pick but here are the obvious ones that should be included if we receive Green Day 02.

Necessary Songs:
Longview
When I Come Around
Geek Stink Breath
FOD
Walking Contradiction
Redundant
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Welcome To Paradise

#4 Muse

Music game law dictates that we should always have “MOAR MUSE” Rocksmith should be no exception. While we have eight songs already, there are some songs that would definitely translate well to the music game library.

Necessary Songs:
New Born
Panic Station
Assassin
Supremacy
Uprising
Exo-Politics
Animals

#5 The Offspring

The Offspring only have a paltry offering in Rocksmith. While their inclusion might be a surprise to you for this list, I’ve always felt that all the music games have missed out on their most guitar driven single, I Choose. Here are some other songs that would be a (kill)joy(powerhead) to play!

Necessary Songs:
I Choose
You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid
Staring at the Sun
The Kids Aren’t Alright
Gotta Get Away
The Meaning of Life
Mota

  1. Pearl Jam- Do The Evolution.
    Green Day- Anything, really.
    Nirvana- Rape Me.
R.E.M.- It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
The Smashing Pumpkins- Zero, To Forgive, Jellybelly.

  2. Since we’ve had a few 2nd packs show up over the past collection of months, I think Green Day, Aerosmith, and Pearl Jam are well over due for a 2nd pack.

Of course I’m always going to vote for more Santana.
    In A Silent Way
    Samba Pa Ti
    Taboo
    Guajira
Chill Out (Things Gonna Change) w/ John Lee Hooker

  3. Disturbed plz:
    Indestructible
    Stricken
    Inside the Fire
    Another Way to Die

    Incubus:
    Megalomaniac
    Stellar
    Dig
    Pardon Me
    Adolescents
    Black Heart Inertia
    Drive

    Soundgarden:
    Blow Up the Outside World
    Burden In My Hand
The Day I Tried to Live
    My Wave
    Live to Rise

    Alice in Chains:
    Man in the Box
    Rooster
    Nutshell
    Heaven Beside You

Cake, Green Day, Nickelback, SOAD, Three Days Grace, QOTSA, Shinedown, Audioslave

  4. Now that another band is getting a second pack and we’ve seen other bands who have had singles get full packs(Lynard Skynard) or seen bands with packs get singles(Boston, Queen, The Cure), and that Dan has said more bands will see second packs, these are the bands I hope to see get more packs and would buy immediately:

B’z – Tak Matsumoto is an amazing guitarist, almost any song by B’z would be great, but I would specifically love to see Run, Ocean, Liar Liar! and Raging River.

Iron Maiden – I would love to see some of their post-2000 stuff, especially songs from Brave New World.

Rush – My dream list include War Paint, Secret Touch, Dreamline, Between the Wheels, Available Light, and The Body Electric.

Pearl Jam – Given to Fly, In Hiding, Yellow Ledbetter, Deep, World Wide Suicide, Breath and A Scream.

Primus – The Antipop, Eclectic Electric, Those Damned Blue Collared Tweekers, Frizzle Fry, Greet the Sacred Cow, Harold of the Rocks.

Mastodon – Ember City, Stargasm, Dry Bone Valley, Crack the Skye

Megadeth – Holy Wars…The Punishment Due, She-Wolf, Tornado of Souls, Trust, Use the Man, Almost Honest, Ashes in Your Mouth, Sleepwalker.

Soundgarden – Burden in My Hand, Incessant Mace, Blow Up the Outside World, Rusty Cage.

I also would like to see Rage Against the Machine’s Freedom make it to the game, more Them Crooked Vultures, Toadies, Steve Vai, Hotei, Acidman, 9mm Parabellum Bullet, The Birthday, 311, Killswitch Engage, The Dear Hunter, Joe Satriani, Minus the Bear, Queensryche, The Stone Roses, and blues packs.

I have requested all of this and a ton more, but this is just limited to bands already in the game.

  5. You can cross out “Another One Bites The Dust”, “Amanda” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” now.

  6. Rage against the machine:

    The ghost of tom joad
    People of the sun
    Testify
    Sleep now in the fire
    Guerilla radio

  7. I’m a little late to the party here but considering Scotty Stapp has been in the news recently for not having much in his bank account, maybe it’s time already for another Creed pack!

  8. I would include the Doors on this list. They skipped over a lot of their more guitar centric songs (“Love Me Two Times”, “People Are Strange”, “L.A. Woman”, etc.). On the Allman Brothers Band, it would be difficult to replicate many of their best songs, as many of them require a slide to play. I’m not sure if Rocksmith could handle slide playing, so they would just be great for rhythm players. Of course, they have other hits that were omitted.

Instead of repeat packs, why don’t we focus on more genre diversity with new packs. We could use something to shake things up a bit…

    1. It worked for “Seven Nation Army” and “Leaning to Fly,” as both are charted how they were originally played and can be played with slides.

      1. I stand corrected; I totally forgot about those tracks. Still, alot of the Allman Brother’s best stuff is their long jams. That is what I would want to see, as it is some really great stuff, but not many tracks like that have been done and I assume that it would be fairly difficult. I would love to see them in the game a second time, but I just don’t see it happening… 🙁

  9. Some Cult – sanctuary, rain, love removal, fire woman, lil devil, wild flower

Ramones – teenage lobotomy, Judy is a punk, beat on brat, sedated, pinheads, etc

  10. My Choices:

    38 Special
    Caught Up in You
    Hold on Loosely

    Motley Crue
    Kickstart My Heart
    Shout At the Devil
    Wild Side
    Shout at the Devil

    Metallica
    One
    Master of Puppets
Pretty much anything off of Kill Them All

    Poison
    Fallen Angel
Life Goes On (CC solos in this song are awesome)
Look What the Cat Dragged In

    Ozzy
    Shot in the Dark
    Crazy Train
    Road to Nowhere
… and a ton of others

    AC/DC
    ANY

    Eric Clapton

    Stevie Ray Vaughan

  11. Chicago.

The first album was SO bluesy is amazing, tracks like “I’m A Man”, “South California Purples”, and “Poem 58” would fit right in, plus other tracks from other albums such as “Make Me Smile”, “Mississippi Delta Blues”, “Dialogue”, and Terry Kath’s own tribute to Jimi Hendrix “Oh Thank You Great Spirit”

  12. A second pack from Iron Maiden or Disturbed wouldn’t be too shabby.

(The ‘request a song’ app is tired of me.)

  13. Would love a creation records 5 pack.

    My Five would be
    Teenage Fanclub- Neil Jung
Sugar- If I can’t change your’ mind
Primal Scream- Kill all the Hippies
    Oasis-cigarettes and alcohol
    Bernard Butler- Stay

  14. I agree with all Elliot’s Picks.

Seems to me that Radiohead’s Anyone Can Play Guitar is absolutely perfect and vital for the game 🙂

  15. I’d like to see a second pack from any or all of the following.

    Alice In Chains
    My Chemical Romance
    Green Day
    Queen
    Weezer
    REM
    Rise Against
    The Who
    The Doors
    Muse

  16. I’d be pretty happy with new DLC from the majority of the bands on this list, especially Weezer, Queen, Boston, and Muse to name a few.

Here’s my personal wishlist of tracks:

    Weezer:

    El Scorcho
    In The Garage
    Eulogy For A Rock Band
(There’s some pretty sweet stuff on the new album. )
    The British Are Coming
(More from the new album probably.)
    Burndt Jamb
    No One Else
    Surf Wax America
    (I could keep going, but I won’t. 😆 )

    Queen:

    Don’t Stop Me Now
    Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy
    Play The Game
    Crazy Little Thing Called Love
    Another One Bites The Dust
Maybe Bicycle Race and Seven Seas of Rhye too.

For Muse, I’d probably be cool with most of their stuff, and I dig the solo in Madness, so there’s that.

Some other bands I’d like to see come back:

    Cake
The Strokes (Vision of Division, Automatic Stop, and lots more that I can’t think of at the moment. 😛 )
The Black Keys (More of their older songs would be great, like Girl is On My Mind and Them Eyes, for example.)

The White Stripes (Astro, Ball and Biscuit, etc.)
    Deftones
The Cure (Friday I’m In Love was a noticable exception in their pack.)
    Alter Bridge
And maybe some more from international artists like the B’z and Golden Bomber

    P.S.

I’m totally onboard for the “Singles out, but need packs list. 😀

  17. Oasis are not a guilty pleasure at all and for sure have the catalog to warrant 2nd DLC. I would go with some of their amazing B Sides 1. Aquiesce 2. The Masterplan 3. Stay Young a newer song when the media prematurely labeled them as past their prime 4. The Importance of Being Idle and 1 more of their classics 5. Slide Away

    1. I never meant “guilty pleasure” as “bad but I like them anyway,” I’ve always thought Oasis made great music. It’s just that none of my friends in high school thought so, so I’ve never really liked talking about the fact that I really like listening to them.

“Guilty Pleasure” here means “I really like them, but I’m afraid of talking about how much I like them.”

  18. Hoo boy. I like a lot of the choices here (not such a Green Day or Pearl Jam fan, but to each his own), but my vote would be 1000% for more Rush and more Boston.

Rush – all those options are good, but I’d also love to get La Villa Strangiato, Natural Science, Jacob’s Ladder, Time Stand Still, Force Ten, Roll the Bones, Driven, The Wreckers, Anthem, or even “Rivendell.” 🙂 Okay, seriously, just about anything Rush would make me happy.

Blue Oyster Cult! The Imaginos version of Astronomy has some decent guitar (I prefer the original, but it was more dependent upon the piano). I Love the Night, M.E. 262, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, and In Thee would all include some good period rock. And for fun factor, Black Blade or Joan Crawford would be hilarious, if not particularly instructional.

We could also go several packs before exhausting the potential of The Who. Sheesh!

BB King and Albert King need a pack of their own! Heart’s got plenty of interesting stuff to be worth a pack of their own as well. At least another 3-pack. I guess I could say the same about CCR, Billy Idol, Chicago, etc.

  19. The Clash

    I fought the law
    Complete control
    The card cheat
    Rock the casbah
    Jimmy Jazz

    Blink 182

    First Date
    The Rock Show
    Always
I miss you ( the rock version, not the shitty one)

    Maroon 5( yes, maroon 5)

    Maps
    Makes me Wonder
    Won’t go home without you

    Sublime

    Date Rape
    Jailhouse
    Pawn Shop
    What happened
    Ebin
    Badfish
    Superstar Punani

    Fall out boy

Headfirst slide into cooperstown on a bad bet
    West coast smoker
    What a catch donnie
    Alone together
    Disloyal order of water buffaloes

Foster the people (they had one song)

    Best Friend
    Coming of age
    Houdini
I would do anything for you
Are you what you want to be

    The Who

    Real good looking boy
    Won’t Get Fooled Again
    Eminence front
    Young man blues
    Going mobile

    Offspring

    Want you bad
    Pretty fly
    The kids aren’t alright

    Muse

    Survival
    Starlight
    Assassin
    Uprising
    Panic Station

Well, i will probably not get any of these songs though 🙁

  20. Nickelback (Come at me bro):

    Burn It To The Ground
    Animals
    Too Bad

    Avenged Sevenfold:

    Shepard of Fire
    Unholy Confessions
    Hail to the King

    Deftones:

    Bored
    Mein
    7 Words

    Pantera:

    5 Minutes Alone
    This Love
    I’m Broken

    Iron Maiden:

    Hallow Be Thy Name
    Powerslave
    Rime of the Ancient Mariner

    Megadeth:

    Peace Sells
    Sweating Bullets

    System of a Down:

    Chop Suey
    Spiders
    Lonely Day

    Green Day:

    Welcome to Paradise
    Jaded
Wake Me Up When September Ends

    Muse:

    Assassin
    Panic Station
    Starlight

    Weezer:

    Troublemaker
    Back to the Shack
    Beverly Hills

    No Doubt:

    Just A Girl
    Hella Good
    Sunday Morning

  21. Throw a dart for Rush. Here are some I believe would be so damn awesome in RS:

    2112
    Cygnus X-1 Book 2: Hemispheres
    La Villa Strangiato
    Entre Nous
    Bastille Day
    By-Tor and the Snow Dog
    Distant Early Warning
    Analog Kid
    Kid Gloves
    Roll the Bones
    Dreamline

blah blah blah. Really, more Rush is a good thing indeed.

And sure, more Muse ain’t a bad thing either. Panic Station, Assassin? Yes please.

More Maiden! Powerslave would fill a void. Maybe Phantom of the Opera? Tailgunner? Wicker Man?

Although we have 3 incredible Duran Duran songs, here are a few that I think bassists would be supremely pleased with:

    Last Chance on the Stairway
    New Religion

  22. You know what else would be really fun? An instrumental only pack from some of these artists. Like:

Rush- La Villa Strangiato (…or Leave That Thing Alone or Where’s My Thing)
    Iron Maiden- Losfer Words
    SRV- Scuttle Buttin’
    The Who- The Ox
    Funkadelic- Maggot Brain
Edgar Winter Group- Frankenstein (I know they don’t have DLC, but fits right in)

  23. Rush:

    2112
    Fly by Night
    The Trees
    Closer to the Heart
    Anthem
    Bastille Day

    Iron Maiden:

    Hallowed be thy Name
    Children of the Damned
    Wasted Years
    22 Accacia Avenue
    Powerslave

    Alice in Chains:

    Rooster
    Nutshell
    Heaven Beside You
    Dirt
    Down in a Hole
    Bleed the Freak

    Green Day:

    21 Guns
    When I Come Around
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
Wake me Up When September Ends
    Holiday

    Radiohead:

    2+2=5
    Street Spirit (Fade Out)
    No Surprises
    Knives Out

    AFI:

    Medicate
    Morningstar
    Love Like Winter
    6 to 8
    Dancing Through Sunday
    God Called in Sick Today
    Clove Smoke Catharsis

    The White Stripes:

Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground
Girl, You have no Faith in Medicine
    We’re Going to be Friends
    Ball and Biscuit

    Silverchair:

    Ana’s Song (Open Fire)
    Anthem for the Year 2000
    Israel’s Son
    Leave me Out
    Slave
    Pure Massacre

    Modest Mouse:

    Dramamine
    Dashboard
    Missed the Boat
    Fire it Up
    I Came as a Rat
    Tiny Cities Made of Ashes

  24. If we ever got a Maiden Pack 02, I would love to see:

    Wasted Years
Running Free (much older, but such fun guitar/bass)
    Hallowed be Thy Name
    Flash of the Blade
    Powerslave

  25. Iron Maiden pack #2 songs
Seventh son of a seventh son
    Prisoner
    The evil that men do
    22 accacia avenue
    children of the damned
    sanctuary
    Powerslave
    Afraid to shoot strangers
    El Dorado
    Running free

  26. Muse
    Black Keys

    AC/DC
    Black Sabbath
    CCR
    Dave Matthews
    John Mayer
    Lynyrd Skynyrd
    Violet Femmes
    ZZ Top
    GNR
    Van Halen
Led Zeppelin (super pack) I know it’s never going to happen.

  27. My 10 picks:

    Incubus
    Biffy Clyro
    Billy Talent
    Offspring
    Green Day
    Blink 182
    The Strokes
    Pearl Jam
    The Cure
    Rise Against

  28. I like/love most of these songs suggested. But I am noticing a lot of radio hits, that while not note for note like Rocksmith is, are easily accessible online with tablature and with a little adjusting or tweaking one can learn for free. I would love it if Rocksmith attempted deeper album tracks. Ones harder to find and learn by ear. It’s great to get a note for note on that wicked solo from Runnin’ Down A Dream, but Free Fallin’ and I Won’t Back Down are 25 years old and quite a lot of guitar playing fans of these songs know them already. Deeper tracks like Tom Petty’s One More Day, One More Night springs to mind. Pearl Jam’s Inside Job. The Who’s The Real Me. Songs like that. Or entire albums would be mindblowing. I would pay the high asking price for the entire Quadrophenia album, among many others.

    1. I certainly agree, which is why I put a few slightly non-radio-friendly songs like the 20-minute long epic 2112 from Rush on this list.

When making this list, I wanted to keep in mind what would be popular and most in-demand for the average Rocksmith player in addition to what is the most challenging and would offer the most to learn from.

And while I would love to learn entire albums, Dan Amrich has stated that there are currently no plans to do such a thing. (I cannot remember where, but I will post another reply when I find out)

      1. Iron Maiden is popular
and is at number 2 on top ten list with Metallica at 1
and Iron Maiden songs are challenging
so why is Iron Maiden not on this list
Judas Priest is at 6 place on the list

  29. I think that Pearl Jam and Green Day are the most under represented and hopefully most likely. I would really love more Aerosmith and Boston as I feel both have a ton of great songs not in the game yet.

Most of the other have a lot already. Having over 10 seems like overkill given so many new bands that could come first. And that pains me to say as a huge Rush and Maiden fan haha

  30. My choice for second DLC needed: The Strokes. Current Strokes DLC is excellent and these would be my picks for second DLC:

    Hard to Explain
    Ize of the World
    Metabolism
    Machu Pichu
    One Way Trigger

  31. Oh man, I’d love some more Jack White!

    300 MPH Torrential Outpour Blues
    Ball & Biscuit
    High Ball Stepper
    Steady As She Goes
    and of course…
Leck Mich im Arsch, ft. Insane Clown Posse

  32. Rush, Iron Maiden, or the Clash. 2112 would be awesome, although I wonder if you would have to tune the guitar during the song to play Discovery. Perhaps some La Villa Strangiato to punish the masses. A new clash pack would require Rudy Can’t Fail.

    1. Yes to all of these! In the case of Rush we need some Trees! And in addition to your excellent pick of Rudy Can’t Fail (my first car was named Rudy after this song), we also need Tommy Gun and White Man in Hammersmith Palais. As far as Maiden we need to give ’em a marathon … I say Rime of the Ancient Mariner!

  33. Elliot, sorry but i need a little more RadioHead;

    Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
    15 Step
    Little By Little

And a Foo Fighters Wasting Light Pack:

    Bridge Burning
    Rope
    Dear Rosemary
    + Something From Nothing

or maybe QOTSA …Like Clockwork Full Album…

something like that will be great!!
    greetings from south america!!

        1. Hahaha. I know, but it sounded fun to say. Great comment, actually made me lol.

And your posting name is awesome. Big fan.

  34. I agree with all of the list of ten aside from oasis (I fckng HATE oasis), and I would buy a pack from each of those 9 bands again happily, I wouldn’t get any of Elliott’s choices though. I didn’t the first time either, although I’m going to get the Radiohead songs sooner or later.

As well as the 9 from the first list I would love to see again, I would personally love more Maiden, Mastodon, The Doors, and a better killswitch engage pack would be welcome for me too.

    Nice article guys.

      1. Haha! I hate green day. I was a fugazi/no FX guy for years before green day came along, and when they did they were too lightweight for my tastes.

        1. I just checked the bass video for that song, it was functional, not bad, but ‘excellent’? Not in my book, not by a long way. I also thought the Killers basslines are generic and pretty boring too, we seem to really differ vastly on what makes a good bassline.
Excellent basslines in my opinion would include any of the songs by Rush, Boston, BOC, Bowie, Clash (even though they are easy they are very creative), Living colour, RHCP, Maiden (a lot of root note chugging, but it’s intense and his fills are beastly!), Lamb of God (surprised me how good they were), The who (although the pack doesn’t feature the best basslines Entwhistle has to offer of course). But no, not Basket Case, not by my standards. Sorry.

      1. Rock Bottom
        Calling Dr. Love
        Deuce
        War Machine
        Love Gun
        Parasite

You could easily do a 10 pack of great KISS tunes. I know they seem to get a lot of hate because they keep touring with imposters (I know I can’t stomach seeing them live anymore) but there’s no denying they’ve made some great music over the years that inspired an entire generation of Rockers back in the day.

  35. With their massive catalog and complicated guitarwork (and basslines!), Iron Maiden definitely has my vote. Holding out hope for Paschendale, Dance of Death, and El Dorado for the newer crowd.

    1. I was actually considering adding them under my picks. Man on The Moon, Orange Crush, Stand, It’s the End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine), Drive, Radio Free Europe, etc. 😛

          1. Lot’s of good songs
            like Hallowed Be Thy Name
that was number 2 on top ten list
and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
but I would like to see 2112
            and uprising

  36. I really want another offspring pack! But I also wish there would be some packs for bands that don’t even have one yet… Bad religion or five finger death punch please!

    1. sadly, according to the info on the most requested acts, they have been asked and the only possible deduction for there still being no pack is they have said no for some reason or another, or have impossible demands to allow their songs used – for now.

      1. Paul Cross reply about RHCP pack (before the end the year) – nope. ‘Fraid not. We’ll keep badgering them… 🙁

  37. From your list: green day! Followed by the clash. However clash would be most needed; we’re serious lacking some reggae influences to learn. Both bandswould be amazing!

  38. I’d really suspect another Muse or Avenged Sevenfold pack, as they seem to be the two biggest modern rock bands who have guitar playing fans.

  39. What about list of band with 1 or 2 downloadable songs but needs a pack, like: Pixies, David Bowie, The Vines.
I would like to read that.

  40. The Rush 3-pack I kept hoping for for Rock Band was Bastille Day, Driven, and Freewill. I know Bastille Day’s kind of a pipe dream, but I do dig the hell out of it 😀

    1. Bastille Day is absolutely incredible… I also love Lakeside Park, and would love to see it, but that too, is a pipedream.
